I’ll be brutally honest I don’t like the pretty consistent invoking of binmans name around here when we lose. I see multiple posters doing what you just did or saying something along the lines of ‘gee can’t wait for binman to comment on this’. The guy gives his opinions from what I’ve seen malice free unless provoked, is reasonable in his analysis in that he offers evidence and reasoning to his thoughts (which A LOT of posters on here are incapable of doing) and devotes his time free of charge to doing the podcast. If you disagree that’s fine. But if you or any other poster wants to say something about Binman, say something straight to Binman and don’t do it surreptitiously by just dropping his name. It’s petty and conveys cowardice.21 points

It's very rare for teams to stay right at the top for 4 seasons...3 happens pretty regularly but getting to 4 is hard. Naturally fringe players look for opportunities elsewhere and the depth just isn't there. Ultimately we didn't cash in on our 3 year window. 2022 was always going to be tough as Geelong were humming...but to choke away decent leads in finals at your home ground against fairly ordinary interstate teams raised real red flags about the competitiveness of our players. And the less said about last year the better...choking in front of goal 2 weeks in a row and watching probably the most ordinary premiership side of a generation take the cake was embarrassing. In the first quarter of our final vs. Coll our intensity levels looked like it was a pre season game...just bizarre and emblematic of a playing group that has just struggled to maintain the physicality required. Glad we snuck one in '21 and gave this generation of fans one to hang on to. But the club, mostly the players, talked the talk but didn't walk the walk and we squandered a golden opportunity to return the club to former glory.14 points

Let's unpack it. Well all know it's been an issue all year, well everyone one except particular person on here who thinks it's a non issue. Currently watching Freo completely smash us around the ground and open us up on the inside. It's like watching the WC game again. We've literally had the same consistent midfield line up since 2021 and have had zero injection of talent rolling through there. We've lost James Jordon, James Harmes, Angus Brayshae and Luke Dunstan even as depth and have replaced them with no one except ANB and Pickett who have been rolling through there of recent and yet they're not even midfield first players. There is little to no depth in thr cupboard now. It's bland, boring and there's been little innovation in there other then the same suspects such as Viney who's been poor this year and will be 31 next year, Oliver is certainly not himself but he's also a turnover merchant and Petracca who's probably been the only one who's had least been consistent this year. The current set up certainly isn't premiership or even finals material the way it's going. Watching Freo spread with such speed on the outside by smashing us on the inside has been the story of our year. This needs to be addressed big time over the off season.13 points

Statistically diabolical performance. Probably a season killing game. Just win next week, I don’t really care about the season beyond that.13 points

Sick of all this Maynard rubbish, it derailed our finals last year & mid 2024 we’re still taking about it, get over it!!!!! Maybe a bit of focus about getting our season back on track12 points

There is something seriously wrong at the club when you get a performance like that. This isn't a squad deplete of talent like the Bailey/Neeld era, to lose by almost triple figures to a mid-table side after being made to look foolish only 2 weeks ago by a bottom 4 side is alarming. I thought the club had turned the corner in 2021 (not just winning the flag but the competitive nature of the team) but it's back to mediocrity which is an utter shame because the supporters deserve more.11 points

This was a shameful betrayal of our supporters and the jumper. Gutless, lazy and incompetent. Petty, McAdam and Hunter would have to be the laziest players in the competition11 points

Revenge is like throwing sand at your enemy upwind, it comes back to hurt you. Winning the game is all that counts.11 points

and then got slaughtered by the press for it. The media united around the collingwood/ Maynard cause… it still makes me sick.10 points

I don’t see any Demon doing anything to Maynard. We won’t want suspensions and nothing less than a suspension worthy act is worth doing anyway. Pushing and shoving is meaningless and just wastes energy and is distracting from the game. The best thing we can do is win by a landslide and then a marking attempt which accidentally knocks Maynard out is the best quinella.10 points

Why has the senior side become a rehab facility? One of the issues for me is that we are carrying to many underdone players. Carrying Clarry and Petty is one thing, carrying players who aren’t proven best 22 players and who can’t run out a game or kick more than 30m (see for example Hunter with his busted calf getting a starting role ahead of Woey yet again), is not helping us. It just increases the load on other players.9 points

I'm not normally one to jump on here right after a loss, but jeez, that really sucks the air out of the room. The way we completely switched off after 4 mins and let them control the rest of the game was embarrassing. Amongst other things, we were badly out-coached. StKilda were completely disinterested, so Im not taking much from that. I dont think we've been competitive or impressive since the Blues game. As for the players today: That's the second game in 3 weeks where May has been completely outplayed. I thought Viney, Petracca and Oliver weren't as influential as previous seasons. Again. Granted, Oliver didn't have a pre-season, but we looked slow and our lack of polish was really on display. Something needs to change. Swallow is like a mini Viney, with less polish. I'm not sure how you can improve the situation. Nibbler had his worst game for the season, has he been found out? Salem was solid, if not spectacular. Windsor looks like he needs a rest, but probably wont get one. Im not sure if Billings is a better option than a tired Caleb. Kozzie completely faded out of the game, as did many. It's like they had given up on the red and blueprint. Our forward line was putrid today, again. We are lucky to have TMac in the side to go forward. I think Disco will get there given time. JVR will help. Petty is just awful. I dont know why everyone picks on McAdam, he's 27 and has played 50 AFL games - he's not that good and never will be. I thought Chandler & Rivers tried. Fritsch improved when moved down back. The backline should get some sort of book of vouchers or a box of chocolates for the number of times it came down there. You'd think McVee should spend more time in the middle if our skills and smarts are letting us down. In all, some tried, others were unsighted. It's like they all just disappeared. Did they give up? What does that say about their mindset, preparation and commitment? Max's shoulders must be bloody sore from carrying this team. Other teams are kicking it about, rather than pushing through contests, which is exposing our lack of skill or ability to adapt. They are drawing out our intercept defenders, opening up the ground and delivering to their forwards. Our inability to get the ball forward was frightening. Are Freo that good, are we that bad? It doesn't seem like a one-off. Im going out for some oxygen. Take care of yourselves.9 points

I think we lost today because Venus is in retrograde and we didn’t sacrifice enough animals on the alter of Satan. Or it’s the globalists or something. I think the AFL has also been microchipping Dees players to make them underperform. I also think some players were hugged too much as children. It’s difficult to write a nonsense post on par with some of the things being written in this thread but it’s tougher than I thought.9 points

A seriously confused playing group headed by a coach who has made a mistake implementing a game style that doesn’t suit the list. I remember watching us kick the first 2 goals of the game against Hawthorn in 2015 to then get belted by 100pts. This was pretty much the same thing. No team that has won their premiership has lost by >90 pts this century I’d say so please let’s not have any, “oh we can still win it bs” A performance like this warrants an apology from the club.9 points

Who is willing to take a 10 week ban for knocking out Maynard? You’re in son.9 points

What are you on about? Bloke's had us in top 4 for 3.5 years. You obviously weren't around for the bad years. Judd, Kerr and Cousins also only got one flag, were they also wasted careers? Entitled Melbourne supporters will get us back to dark ages, not Simon Goodwin9 points

The drafting of McAdam is a bust. He has no penetration in his kicking and cannot hit up a target from 20m away. Lachie Hunter mkll.9 points

We gave up. Petracca reflects the player’s feelings…he was so frustrated by a failing game plan. Waving his arms around every time it came unstuck. We absolutely stunk it up and another sold game destroys our season9 points

I took a leisurely drive to the game in Alice last year. What a shock and [censored] show that turned out to be! This year, I am firmly ensconced at The Manor for what I expect to be a tough and close struggle. Max will simply have to be more superhuman than ever as he is facing a two on one against a couple of serious players. As a team, a slow start must be avoided and we will need to take all our chances inside 50. Fritta is always reliable but we will need contributions from McAdam and Petty. Our defence will be the difference. Dees by 13 points.9 points

I'm sick of all this doom and gloom - anyone would think we got belted by 15 goals.8 points

That was pathetic. constantly missing targets under no pressure. Terrible decision making, butter fingers… all in dry, sunny and cool conditions. A shameful performance8 points

Reality check. Goodwin has to come under extreme pressure now. This has been building since the Brisbane game. Tim Lamb needs to also come under serious scrutiny, he's butchered the list since the grand final.8 points

Clayton has fallen off a cliff, probably the terrible mismanagement of his pre-season has done this. Trac has been given license to get more forward, less impact in the middle. Viney in bad form, maybe slowing down. Sparrow will never break out. ANB is ok depth but shouldn't be attending as many bounces as he is. Kozzy is ok in limited spells, but like Trac he is a forward half impact player, playing him onball takes away from our scoring. Salem, no idea why he has been deemed a midfielder after 8 years playing off half back, just another brain dead decision by the coaching staff. Rivers, actually showed promise late last year, can't move him through there this year though for reasons unknown. Brayshaw retiring really hurt us, club should've done a better job when it came to the decision to retire him. We needed to know before the trade/draft period, this has [censored] us well and truly.8 points

Good lord get him out of the forward line forever. Half way through the last quarter and he's had 2 disposals next to his name. Experiment needs to end immediately and he needs to either be dropped or go back down to the backline.8 points

Absolutely wrong. They are doing as they please under no pressure at all. The year we won the flag our pressure was manic. That was my point. whether I personally have played footy at an elite level or not is completely irrelevant8 points

Petty has one disposal in three quarters of football. Needs to be dropped ASAP.8 points

We had a second AA ruck signed sealed and delivered. They gave it 10 weeks to work then gave up, and crashed out in straight sets for the second year in a row. They traded that ruck to another contender who is now 1st halfway through the year. Meanwhile we sigh McAdam who can't kick 30 metres, ignore trade requests for Petty who average 5 touches a game and no goals, and gave Oliver an ultimatum only for him to turn into a potato. Our best players are all turning/in their 30s, we have zero ruck depth, no forward craft, and a wasted midfield. McRae has demonstrated what good coaching craft does with a solid list. Melbourne has choked so hard post-flag. Today is the eye opening I think many needed.8 points

The flip flopping by Goodwin and our coaching staff on their decision to have a 2nd ruck is laughable, hearing Goodwin say how much he valued Grundy to nothing and backing Gawn as a solo ruck with a young Jvr & petty today…not to mention since Yze had left our mids have gone backwards is it Mcqualter our mids coach? This sums up were we are at & they have managed to destroy a list that should have won another flag7 points

Votes. Votes? Really. 92 point loss. Hard job. It was a horror show. #Freo92 6- McVee 100% efficiency. Held Walters. 8 intercept marks. Zero stupid turnovers. Tried all day 5- Viney. Tried and fumbled and fought and tackled and fumbled and tried and slipped and tried. Tried tried tried. 4- Petracca. Because he cared. Looked frustrated by teammates who guarded grass and no pressure. Kicked nice goal. 3- Gawn. Because he’s a warrior and tried all day. Freo ran him ragged 2- Langdon. Because he kicks the ball. Others just handball to no one. Tried his guts out. 1- Tomlinson. Tried all day under barrage. Kicked well. 90% disposal efficiency negative votes to the forwards Petty Fritsch McAdam Turner Chandler. negative votes to turnovers from Bowey, Salem, Riv, Sparrow who gave up the footy all day.7 points

We have a better list than most of the top 8 sides. We came into this season with the best defense in the league over the last 4 years, and a midfield with like 10 AA jackets, two coaches awards, and a Norm Smith. Our list is certainly a LOT better than to lose by 90+ points to [censored] Fremantle!7 points

My anger towards Maynard is enormous and the only time I have really wanted to see a player get hurt. However this anger pales into insignificance against the anger felt towards the AFL, McGuire and the toady media for their sycophantic coverage and predetermined, manufactured outcome. I truly hope the Frawley family and others pursue law suits against the AFL and the Gus incident is highlighted as an example of dereliction of a duty of care with individuals named.7 points

After a slow start to the year, off an injury interrupted pre-season mind you, Jefferson is starting to hit his straps. Spent a few games back early in the season and when forward was perhaps impeded by our other talls in Brown, Schache, Fullarton, KFW and Verrall resting forward at times. He's now kicked 15 goals in 9 games with 13 of those coming in the last 5 weeks for an average of 2.6 goals a game. I think we're just scratching the surface of his potential with a seemingly solid ground level game coupled with a strong aerial game. He might not get a debut this year but I think he'll get more than a taste next year. Reckon he will pair well with JvR.7 points
