  4. I take it the comments about Sparrow's kicking and 'decision making' are meant to be funny? The 'low percentage long goal' - made with Bulldogs players charging at him - was one of the goals of the year. The second one at the start of the 4th he spotted Brown with a long and penetrating kick. It was superb - and recognised as such by Bartel on the radio commentary. Just as well he didn't pissfart around looking for options spied from the comfort of the lounge chair. Bit different out on the ground.

  5. How obscene (and utterly ugly) is this proposal. There is no respect for the urban design of the city nor the historic MCG precinct that it links to. Its a really big no from me.

  11. Given he doesn’t mind a bit of attention, could be an explosive post career book. Diary entry Sat 24th July 2021:- We got another email from Gil this morning. This time, it simply stated “”tonight dogs to beat Dees. Just get it done””

  13. I would have said yes except for the 2 weeks between the prelim and GF was plenty to recover. In that final 40 mins they also had a total of 13 minutes of recovery time between goals and 6 mins at 3/4 time. They were cooked upstairs but physically they had no excuses.

  14. “This isn’t about putting a few apartment blocks up,” [McGuire] said. Quite right. It's about putting a [censored]-ton of apartment blocks up. “If you do this in a sensitive way, it turns it into the most unbelievable passive recreation and green lung for Melbourne.” Correct. I don't believe it. The only green I'm seeing is the stuff that's already there. Is Mr Nowhere a consultant for this thing?

  15. I saw the 1950's and we were a great team with the greatest MFC coach of all time who asked for discipline team effort both on field and off field. True greatness in a team game is winning multiple premiership while you have great players playing their best football, we are the hunted now so we must never lose our team focus or values to become the greatest MFC team of all time. Only time will tell but provided the list remains healthy we are in for a great ride.

  16. I got the victory pack yesterday from J B Hi Fi, all three finals PLUS seasons highlights DVD $75 bucks. I have an 80 inch 4 k T.V compatible, 4 K Blu Ray and a Yamaha 7.1 System with two sub woofas and Dolby atmos in the roof!! The standard def DVD works VERY well. BUT the BLU RAY version should be something else again🤩

  19. Is KRock the old 3GL? or similar? if so the prelim final call would be like Bounce of the ball, Stanley up high, Dangerfield clearly held, play on, knocked forward, great defensive work by Henderson,........goal to Melbourne Bounce of the ball, Stanley up even higher, Selwood clearly held, play on, knocked forward, great defensive work by Bews,........goal to Melbourne. Special Comments : I think the Dees have shot their bolt. Repeat

  23. Just talking about the prelim for a second, I saw Tom Hawkins on ch9 sport the other night and he mentioned that he sledged Maxy at 1/2 time of our prelim he said to Maxy this is yours to lose & giving it to him. He said he has learnt his lesson and won't sledge again especially with his 3rd quarter dominance. Don't wake the beast Tom. He will react. .

  27. We would take good care of it here in Sydney. I think the club is doing a great job by not being precious about the cup and letting supporters see it given most couldnt get to the game.

  30. I hear you fork! My sons routinely accuse me of loving the Dees more than I love them (which by the way isn’t true… I love them equally 🙃) Anyways my middle son once said to me “if Max Gawn and I were both unconscious in a burning building and you could only save one of us, what would you do?” I says, “well, while piggybacking Maxy out, I’d use my free hand to call 000 for you.” He wasn’t impressed, but nor was he surprised. The whole fam know how passionate I am about my awesome Demons. ❤️💙

  31. True, but they did it to themselves by blowing the last few rounds of home and away. Contrast that to the team who finished on top, became masters of their own destiny and earned themselves little travel and a stable living/training base.

  32. Libba will very soon be a liability for the Dogs to run on the ball. Have a look at how slow he looked in that last 30 seconds of the 3rd when we were taking the ball away from the bounce. He looked like he was trying to run in a walking frame.

  33. I doubt those age gaps made much difference. You are really only talking about Liberatore as a difference. Most experienced players don't decline until after about 30. In fact since the effects of experience and training are cumulative, they should still be getting better. Sides like Geelong are a different story.

  34. That looks horrible - the Docklands is already a white elephant of empty apartments/buildings and they want to extend that across the city from Flinders to South Yarra? Yuck

  35. There’s an article by Jon Ralph in today’s Herald Sun Game of Hide & Peak where he discusses the effect of the lack of game time for Victorians as a result of the Covid19 lockdowns over the past two years and the fact that this might have prevented the emergence of late draft bolters like Marcus Bontempelli and Clayton Oliver in past years. One of his examples is Owens:- “St Kilda-linked Sandringham Dragon Mitch Owens played only two NAB League games after round 4 but they were a 109-ranking point, 24- possession performance and a 25-possession, 127-ranking point showing. Would they have been the start of a withering run that would have cemented his place in the top 20 or just a flash in the pan?” At least now with next Monday’s training session, there’s a brief opportunity for another look, albeit nothing like having had 24 or 25 games of football per year over 2 seasons instead of half a dozen or so.

  36. Can't compare the timing his 2 you are referring to are near the end and are clear arm chops The swing of his body and holding after he missed the ball was legit but perhaps the one earlier that quarter ( 3rd) for holding was not BUT the umps have been paying SOFT holding and pushing and interfering frees all year so no different. The Hannan free late in the 3rd also was crap. Overall umpiring had little or no effect on the outcome. I was at the game and was ok with Umps.

  38. Watched the second half again. This time with 3AW commentary. Can't stop myself laughing every time "surely not another one" happens. And for certain goals in the last quarter. I know it was weeks ago, but I think people should try to watch a replay. I strongly recommend it.

  42. My victory pack arrived in the mail today and at a quick glance: The GF is a DVD, not blu ray The GF has the commentary options of Channel 7, Triple M, 3AW, and SEN The season highlights disc runs for 1.5 hours and has someone hosting it, reflecting on the season, and a sit-down with Jack Viney before starting to go in to the highlights from each round Looks like a great package of material in my opinion, exactly what I was after!

  43. I'm sure everyone on here has their own story of the games they went to over the years, the heart breaks, the embarrassments, the disappointments, the great memories too, but for me personally, I have never enjoyed a finals series and post Grand Final more. I'm sure everyone is like me and has a photo or a video of them celebrating. This is me and my 90 year old Dad. We have been to hundreds of games together over the years, and while we couldn't enjoy the game together because of lockdown, my son and I visited him post game. This might be the best moment of my life. Please post your own pic or video so we can continue to enjoy the emotions of that fateful night. Post GF Video.MOV

  44. From memory LH I was sent an email asking what I wanted this year 2022 re the package. This year I knew I would probably not get to any games so I just took the electronic membership, no scarf, card etc. My wife told me at the time you are sure to win it in 2021 you will have nothing from this year not even a winning scarf. How right was she, I should listen more often. 2022 I asked for everything!!!!

  46. Loved the performance. Loved the season. Loved the fact that we’re the premiers and all the associated benefits that come along with it. Disappointing that many us weren’t able to see it, and just hope we’ve got another one in us over the coming 1-5 years.

  47. Yeah well. This club has taught me how to deal with disappointment over the years but when Bontempelli kicked his 3rd ..... I was sliding into a dark tunnel.

  48. A week or so ago I needed to provide answers to questions for online verification. With my oldest daughter and wife peering over my shoulder I finally found a question on the list I liked. Q. What is the best moment of your adult life? "'Easy." A. Melbourne flag. "What !!! .... Not the birth of your children?" exclaimed the 1st born. I explained that I had been practically raised as a child at the MCG watching the Demons and have been hungering for that elusive Premiership my whole life. Marriage, kids, yadda, yadda were never that high on my priority list 😅 It has been a long hard road but now all my tears be washed away. Go the Mighty Demons.

  49. I’ve always tried to imagine what it’d be like to win one and this is a googolplex times better than anything I could envision. But what has caught me unawares more than anything is how LONG this feeling lasts. Fair dinkum, the pure joy and overwhelming feeling of relief and the feeling of pride to almost bursting point has not diminished one iota. In fact, some days I think it’s even stronger! Besides that, the fact that it doesn’t feel as though it’s fully sunk in yet is amazing. It’s still unbelievable! You simply could not put a price on this feeling. Even if Jeff Bezoz and Elon Musk and Richard Branson et al pooled their $$$ it wouldn’t come anywhere near the worth of the MIGHTY DEES winning a PREMIERSHIP!!!!!
