  1. It was a great night. Was one of my uncles last happy moments. So glad he got to see this before he passed away. I guess it must have been fate

  3. An anecdote from the finals. A mate of mine who is a lifelong Cats supporter rang me after the PF to say, it doesn't matter who wins the other final or how much they win by, there is no way you will not win, you are that good.. Wish I was that confident, I was but not like that.

  4. Walked past the AFL Store and saw this "Deemolition" t-shirt in the window and couldn't resist buying it! Here is an image of what the t-shirt looks like: I love the 1990's retro Demons mascot image. It brings back a lot of fond memories growing up. I used to have the exact same 1990's retro Demons mascot image on a jumper/sweater that I wore as a kid. 😁 GO DEMONS!!!

  5. I was. Was telling a bloke at work after the Prelim that I had never seen a more complete game from a Melbourne side .... Ever. He reckoned we might've played our Grand Final a week too early. "They won't play that well again." he declared. "They won't have to." I told him. Many said it'll be a close game as the Dogs had also easily won their Prelim. Yeah they did, but they didn't do it like we did. Also told any-one that come near me that we Melbourne supporters would be celebrating by 3/4 time. Drinking in the last quarter. Whenever I thought of the game in the 2 weeks lead up all I could see was Gawn, Oliver, Petracca and Jackson dominating the midfield blasting from the centre as they do. Couldn't see Naughton and Weightman kicking more than a couple goals each amongst our AA backline. And the dogs defence wouldn't stop our forward line fed by the mids. Our side had no holes .... None. Right down to the last player. Hats off to the dogs for their 2nd quarter tho'. They played well. That wasn't in the plan at all and if I said I wasn't spooked I'd be lying but in the end that just made the comeback and destruction that followed even more glorious than I thought it'd be. There is nothing better than watching your champions do exactly what you know they can do on the biggest stage of all. I waited a long time for that Premiership but won't have to wait long for the next one. Abit less than 11mths by my reckoning. Go the Mighty Demons.

  6. You know at the start of every season how Ch7/Fox do promo footage of each captain in a TV studio holding the cup, looking at the cup, ect? I'd always think "Why bother doing it with the Dees, it will never happen, waste of time"..... well, they better schedule Gawny to be first up next year before any other captains get their grubby mitts on OUR cup. It's the little things that make a premiership so great!!!

  7. A thought occurred to me when watching Fritter's two goals that started our revival. Thank heavens we didn't adhere to that silly habit of taking players off after they kick a goal! He was fired up after the first one , nearly took a speccy then recovered like lightning to get another, and we were on our way! Very inspiring !! Is there a lesson to be learnt here?

  11. No surprise to see that Ed and ANB were our top runners in 2021. Loved watching ANB running off after his GF goal. He was running so strongly and looking like he was just starting the game.. Also looking pretty pleased with himself and his mates. ( And so he should.) He and Langers certainly are super fit boys. Christian Salem surprised a bit. He seems to cover territory inconspicuously. It was great too to see that our baby Jake Bowey has a tank at the tender age of 19. Augers well for his future and ours.

  14. Wanted to report back to DL the outcome. I received my shipped order today with all the items that had the messages highlighted above included 🙃🙂🙃. While I haven't heard back from the club to clarify the messages, my conclusion is that if I wanted to add some to my original order they are no longer available to re-order. Don't hold me to that but it makes sense of the messages. Very happy.

  15. One thing I've enjoyed noticing more of on re-watching the GF are the signs, photos, etc., in the crowd, thanking people for tickets or showing the name of the person/family they're representing. Love it!

  16. Rn I’m watching the second half of the prelim again coz… why not? I was just thinking about how the word ‘legend’ gets bandied around a lot. So much so that it’s kind of lost its potency. But… Maxy Gawn. I mean seriously, from the winner after the siren in Rd 23 through the prelim with his five goal haul and on to captain the Mighty Dees to an historic Premiership victory. This is the stuff of folklore. MINSTRELS WILL WRITE SONGS ABOUT HIM! 🏆❤️💙😁❤️💙🏆

  18. I thought this game; 27 May 2018, Alice Springs where we handed the previous year’s grand finalists a good spanking would have got a mention. “Melbourne were rampant in the 91-point hiding, racking up their fifth consecutive win with the 23.8 (146) to 8.7 (55) victory over last season's beaten grand finalists. It was the first time Melbourne have won back-to-back games by more than 90 points in the club's history, the first time since 1993 that the Demons have won two games in the same season by more than 90 points and also their third victory in a row by more than 10 goals.”

  19. Beer guy. He did get to sit down - just. LOL. Then, soooo quickly: "Not Max again! Are you kidding?!" Sorry to shanghai the GF post game with PF stuff. But it's all part of the beautiful 9/21.

  20. BB was an assistant coach for the Roos’ AFLW team, he now joins the Dees coaching group as a talls and ruck specialist. Shows great synergy between the men’s and women’s footy programs operating within a healthy club culture. Kudos Mr. Brown and MFC! https://www.womens.afl/news/75631/demons-aflw-coaching-panel-gets-premiership-boost?fbclid=IwAR1jc1AHBKX4fGLpQ0drf8leoZJbZgo-fv-D_2UKzfNhavbOrEe8jdghT6o

  27. I'm not a huge one for memorabilia either (though I did get the poster and got an xmas present for mum) but I'm happy to throw money at the club so they can make hay while the sun shines especially considering the massive financial hit they've taken in the last two years. Most of the stuff I buy will probably be for the kids but when I next get to the Demon Shop I might buy one of the jumpers/tshirts/hoodies etc if they're in stock. Most annoying thing is the Demon Shop has sold out of a lot of kids sized stuff but the same things are available at the AFL Shop/MCG Shop - would rather go direct so the club gets the money but if I don't have a choice I'll have to go elsewhere. The kids really want the tshirt with the Mark Knight design but they don't have any smaller ones left. I did get them the drink bottle with the same design though, hopefully it comes before xmas.

  32. Will NEVER forget the Rd 14 vs WC 2017 win. We hadn’t won in Perth for 12 years, so there was that. But when Tmac snuck that goal in right at the end… I screamed almost as loud as I screamed when Maxy kicked the winner after the siren in Rd 23 this year. Almost. 🙂

  34. The win over the Lions mid season was the first time I actually thought that we might be a real chance. Coming back the way we did was amazing and I’ll never forget that feeling, even with all the incredible events throughout the rest of the season.

  35. Can add to that list that he has great forwards goal sense and skills set. Always knows where they are, is surprising agile, has good ball handling skills and is quite capable of snagging a sneaky snap or kick out of a pack if the ball hits the deck as well.

  37. Damn you WCW; you've made me do the same. And I really should be getting some sleep. There's more of that electric, one-touch, at-pace footy here, too. Who's gonna step up and do that highlights package? 😋

  38. Rivers middle patch of the forst was really good, he was instrumental in Trac first. Mayse was really annoyed with Lingers on the Dogs first goal as his opponent was unimpeded running into May, causing May some rib discomfort.

  39. Endorse what most others are saying here. Astute observers would of course be cognisant of young Captain Jack’s bravura performance against the dreaded colliwobbles in the AFL’s Covid blockbuster series one. Before injury prematurely ended his 2020 seAson. Grabbed his opportunity by the proverbials last campaign. Stamping his authority with some rousing play making on the biggest stage. Young man on the rise.

  42. He looks so awkward and gangly most of the time, with elbows and knees out of alignment with his arms and legs, a jerky running style, and looks to be out of position. I have to admit that at times, watching him play makes me want to look elsewhere due to the lack of smoothness. But he has 3 traits I just love: He attempts to mark the ball at the highest point of his leap, the one thing defenders find difficult to combat, and even makes it difficult for the third man up trying to spoil. When he is looking awkward and out of position, he gets an arm in here, his body in there, runs across someone ensuring the ball comes to ground: he does something to try and get the ball to ground. He leads in a straight line, demanding the ball. Half the time he has concrete hands, but his leading is a thing of beauty. And stuff me, I can not for the life of me figure out why North were so keen on letting him go. We can build a very powerful forward line around this bloke for the next 3 years.

  43. Would be a hint of irony if Mac Andrew ended up at GWS. The introduction of NGAs to the clubs outside of the Northern academies, among other reasons, was largely seen as a way to even up the unfair advantage GWS and Sydney had over cherry picking the best talent in their area. A flawed idea in itself. Now we have the winding back of clubs priority NGA rights due to the development pathways being Covid affected. GWS, Sydney, Gold Coast and Brisbane still have unfettered access to their academy players I believe. GWS, who had priority rights to access players such as Tom Greene, Harry Perryman, Harry Himmelberg and Jacob Hopper, is now widely speculated to take a Melbourne zoned NGA player without the dees ability to match. Funny how things work out.

  45. That 16.4 happened with 1.5 quarters to go, equivalent to 66.67 points per quarter or 267 points for the match. Let’s not forget this was against the 2nd best team for the year. That’s how hot we were.

  46. Sparrow has a lot of great attributes, and people inside the club (especially Yze) rave about how he trains and prepares. With a big preseason and the confidence he would take from 2021, I reckon he could crack the regular midfield rotation. Keep in mind a that plenty of the games he put up good numbers were off ~60% game time - pretty impressive for a youngster. He's a like a proto-Viney but with a booming right shoe. Here's to more 🤘🤪🤘 celebrations from Sparrow!

  47. I thought he was a real dud, particularly in that game where he kicked into the man on the mark, and handballed into the man on the mark, in separate incidents. He proved me completely wrong in the grand final! I love his build (an absolute brick …house), a fantastic long kick, and a good mark. I think he might have real potential.
