  3. Bowey what a player, shame about the holding the ball, not a concern tho. He's a player.

  4. A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since the last time we played a game. Victoria went back into lockdown, Jack Viney had his brain fade, the Olympics came to an end and there have been upsets galore among many of the fancied AFL teams. Melbourne knows full well the heartache of defeat at this point of the season to teams placed below them on the ladder as much as it does the value of victory tonight in the West. Bring your pressure game, attack with ferocity and know that top spot is there for the taking!!!

  5. Nah I've got zero time for this attitude. An unprecedented 30 minute break when we have the game entirely under control, in hostile territory, forcing West Coast to change their entire attitude, after a week in quarantine, off the back of a day last weekend on a plane. This is a win to savour, not to complain about.

  6. G'day Rab, thanks for the hello, I assume from the likes to your post, more than one was interested so will reply here and not on PM. I work as the Operations head for the UN World Food Programme (https://www.wfp.org/countries/sudan) , which basically means professional garbage sweeper. Whenever there are dramas with our operation (generally vibrations between our Programme and Logistics units or Government interference) I gather the folks together and we either sing Kumbayah or crack heads together, whatever folks choose. Have worked in lots of countries (East Timor/Kenya/Somalia/PNG/Italy/USA/Sierra Leone/Ghana/Uganda/Ethiopia/Sweden/Germany+++) I did a trip to Meroe and it was very cool, sunset, a full moon and sunrise with the pyramids amongst the sand dunes was way cool, felt like i was on a starwars set. there are also temple ruins not too far away that are ultra impressive for detail. Glad you ask about the railway, quite proud of that, we (WFP) are fixing it, we did Port Sudan to Kosti (so freight can go now from Port Sudan to Kosti then by Barge to south Sudan. Now the old régime (Bashir) is on the outer, we don't have a bunch of @#$^$%& generals forcing us to use their trucks for transport and we can support the rehabilitation of rail, good for so many reasons, including environmental. We now have a 80 million dollar project to fix connections to Gedaref, the Darfurs and eventually South Sudan. Re Wadi Halfa the train is not regular but will be getting better. The first operation for WFP (#001) was actually feeding people dislocated by the Aswan dam and relocated to Wadi Halfa. will stop there as this is a mighty derail (sorry) of the thread, replies for more detail please PM. Re what's it like, the people are brilliant, a level of hospitality and honesty that has to be seen to be believed, if you only watched CNN you'd never understand how brilliant people usually are. It is also hot and dusty and often tragic. The alcohol ban is mega annoying, but I specialize in logistics. I enjoy my job which helps, recently working on the Tigrayans displaced from the civil war in Ethiopia, setting up food supply and distribution to some remote spots.

  8. Thanks for the heart attack. Every minute of that break and what happened after was stressful to the max. Likelihood of me sleeping properly now: zero. Hell yes though. Back on top and now can’t get knocked out of the 4. Very happy.

  9. Rubbish. Name another team thats put up with the garbage we’ve had to over the last 8 days. Be proud of the work they put in.

  10. Anyone who thinks that was an even playing field in respect to the umpiring is deluded.
    15 points
  11. Honestly, that will never happen again in football history. All that happened was the Eagles got a free hit. Up until then we absolutely controlled the game. I couldn’t be prouder of our club. We’ve had a horrible 9 days and responded with 2 wins. The boys should feel so good about what they’ve achieved. We kept at it, and just grinded. That’s what good teams do.

  13. Dudes. I was at Optus tonight. Every single moment was amazing. We totally outplayed them bar some moments in the 2nd quarter. That third quarter and the start of the last was total domination. By the point we came off the game was over regardless. I am on top of the world right now. Go you mighty Dees. We came here to do a job and we did it. Dees!!!!

  15. A golden opportunity for revenge after the Prelim humiliation. Let’s show the world how far we’ve come since then and why 2021 is different to 2018. We need to start off strongly to shut their dumb booing fans out. A Monday night, rain and poor form hopefully means a less than full house.

  16. Every game this round frees about equal. 28-16 Eagles way. The last 15 minutes 10-2. Well done Dees you beat 21. Great effort Dees, back on top.

  18. Luke Jackson is close to BOG. This is close to the best game I've seen him play at AFL level.

  19. Top spot baby. Forget the last fifteen minute farce (8 frees to 1 btw). We have had a day on a plane, smashed gold coast, jumped on another plane for 3 hours , spent 7 days in quarentine and beat that mob on their home deck. Proud of the boys!!

  23. Good: - Bowey (my goodness he’s already special) - ANB in game 100 - Jackson Rising Star - Brown being the dominant target and holding marks - Melksham playing his role - Team effort overall Bad: - Goal kicking (will cost us a final) - Umpiring - Players not being smart enough to know umpires are hot on them - Lightning - West Coast supporters - Brian Taylor

  26. My bomber supporting neighbour just tried to claim credit for helping the dees get back to top spot and demanded we scratch their back by beating WCE. Always thinking of others, those bombers fans!

  29. I never watch TV games until I know the result, due to the stress. Checked the score, we were miles in front and I thought here we go, nice watch the last 15 minutes of live footy. Won't be doing that again, Jesus Christ.

  30. For those who are a bit jaded by the last 15 minute output. imagine you’re 6 goals up - 15 to go, you’ve cooled down - you’ve essentially sewn up top 4. And Burgess says, don’t go out and injure yourself, play it cool, play it safe…you’ve got another 5 matches to go for the season. do you a) play it safe or b) ensure a greater likelihood of injury after cooling down and go really really hard?

  31. Posted the same in game day thread, but felt it warrants its own post again. Umpires can go EAD.

  32. Actually rate the win very highly, struggling at half time, came out and dominated the 3rd quarter like a good side. 8 free kicks to 1 in the last quarter doesn't lie plus the play on call to Spargo , the free against May for just contesting the mark, good win.

  33. We were mucked about the week before, diverted flights, then quarantine, and a lightning delay with some suss AF umpiring... ...Didn't matter! TOP OF THE LADDER, BABY! (Great game Nibbler!)

  37. From The Age: "The Giants will request their season-defining home game against Richmond in round 22 be played at either Marvel Stadium or GMHBA Stadium rather than at the MCG". Hardwick has complained about going to both stadiums. Karma! Giants win this and they shut Richmond out of the finals. Hope it is GMHBA. Go Giants!!

  38. These were the results Eagle produced in Optus Stadium this year : Rd1 WC vs GCS 83:58 won by 25 Rd3 WC vs PA 108:71 won by 37 Rd5 WC vs Coll 103:76 won by 27 Rd7 WC vs Freo 132:73 won by 59 Rd9 WC vs Adel 106:76 won by 30 Rd11 WC vs Essen 71:87 lost by 16 Rd13 WC vs RICH 85:81 won by 4 Rd15 WC vs WB 43:98 lost by 55 Rd17 WC vs NTH 60:70 lost by 10 Rd19 WC vs STK 94:86 won by 8 Rd21 WC vs Melb ? : ? lost by ? I reckon Demon won't let Eagle kick more than 70 points, Demon itself will kick over 70, therefore you know what the result will be. Go Dees!

  39. To be fair I don’t know how the umpire could call play on before even blowing the whistle on that Spargo mark. He kicks that goal and it’s done. I am just glad we didn’t cop massive injuries in that last 15 minutes. Take the 4 points and bid farewell to WA, their booing halfwit fans, their [censored] premier, and their crap teams.

  40. I'm just laughing now. Seriously forget about that final 15 minutes. We went over to Perth playing to get our top spot back and we did it. Lets get back to Melbourne and beat Adelaide.

  44. Melksham should have been dropped when he was (actually a lot earlier) but even I, one of his most vocal critics could see he was the type of player we needed back in the team. He’s making our forward line look a lot more dangerous.

  46. Say what you like about Melksham (I’ve said a lot) at least he can kick the ball which is something we need. Bowey looks like a 100 game veteran, didn’t see that happening so quickly.
