  1. Let me just say a big congratulations to Adelaide, who were really well coached tonight. I thought they put in massive amount of pressure and it resulted in simple little turnovers that proved costly. 2nd point, stop blaming the umpires. They did not cost us the game at all. The fact we were in a position late in the game that we needed to rely on a deliberate rule is imo is very concerning. We 16 points up with 3 minutes to go. We lost because we put ourselves in that position to lose. I'm putting the absolute heat on our senior players tonight. Some of the efforts and performance from so called senior heads and leadership was simply unacceptable. Steven May - possibly the worst games he's played for us. Played lazy football and gave no respect to a rookie in Thilthorp. Just wanted to play zone football all night. One thing also, stop spraying other blokes when you get beaten in a one on one contest. It is simply on you. Fritsch - My god is there a more softer footballer going around? Lazy and insipid. 0 defensive efforts. If we are fair dinkum as a club then he surely is under the microscope this week. Melksham - Simply bizarre he was playing in the first place. How the [censored] did he get selected on the back of being a medical sub? What does that say to the likes of Tom Sparrow who's busted his [censored] at AFL level with 2 games in a row of being BOG with an average of 30 disposals? What exactly does that send to not only Sparrow but the rest of the blokes doing the hard yards? Not only does Melksham do SFA, he's another who insipid with 0 defensive pressure. Harmes - One trick pony who dead set thinks his dusty. Honestly don't know what to make of him Jetta - Yeah look, commented pre game that I was concerned with this inclusion. Might as well just have played a witches hat. Adds legit nothing to our side anymore. Great servant but hopefully that's the last time we see him in red and blue. Stay at Casey and help develope our kids. Weideman - So disappointed. Running out of patience. If there was a time to really stake a claim and grab a game by the scruff of the neck then today would have been it. Gawn - Had good moments then had poor moments where I just face palmed. Maybe can the whole podcast for a few weeks and #positvelingers stuff and just focus on getting your form back, because he has simply been poor of late. I'm starting to notice signs of tiredness with Pickett, Rivers and Jordon. How we manage that Is up to the club. The positves for me were Petracca and Oliver. I thought while Lever was under immense pressure he was our best defender. Ed Langdon is proving what an absolute brilliant pick up he's been. Lesson for young kids who want to see what work rate is all about, grab yourself a few Langdon highlights and watch him work his [censored] off. I also thought Brayshaw on the other wing was good as well. The 3 keys players we missed today were Salem, Ben Brown and Jack Viney. I said this a few weeks ago, but the impact Brown has is huge for our forwards. He draws 2 defenders and.its no coincidence that when Brown was playing McDonald and Fritsch had career best games. Viney is the general around our stoppages and directs our set ups and stoppage clearences.Him being out has left a significant hole and it's been telling the last few weeks. Enough said by Salem. He is our barometer and just sets us up so well from half back. Please be back next week. Funny enough I wasn't angry about this loss because I think Adelaide played really well and I thought we'd win this comfortable. But what this shows is that there is no easy teams this year. Every win is so significant and I feel like this is exactly the lost we needed.

  2. That loss has been a few weeks in the making IMHO. Its almost a relief to get it out of the way. I will be happy to split the next 2 games 50/50 and reset at the bye. Not the end of the world.

  3. Great game [censored] up in the end by disgraceful umpiring!

  6. We’re not a flat track bully team. System, process, structure. I expect a similar outcome to last week. Adelaide will challenge us but we’ll keep them at arm’s length and win by a comfortable, regulation 5 goals. I’d like to see Trac have a big game. He’s not quite been at his best lately. Build his confidence before the big tests v the Dogs and Lions. We need him firing to give us the best chance to win those games Hoping the Weid can clunk a few marks and slot 3-4 goals Another game for Petty to build his confidence. Reckon he’ll take Thilthorpe, decent young KPF. To all the Demonlanders over there for the game I hope you have a thoroughly enjoyable day. Go Dees

  7. Face it, relying on a free kick in the last seconds to beat a bottom side is not good enough.

  10. A fabulous win for Adelaide and their umpires

  11. When you fumble all game and bomb it long into your forward line every time, you deserve to lose. Forget the umpiring, as they are not tough guys and they were simply scared of being hurt in Adelaide, if they payed the last holding the ball and deliberate. Also whatever stops we were wearing, well someone made a big mistake. We constantly fell over and it cost us badly.

  12. All credit to the Crows. They were fantastic this evening. They showed an awful lot of heart. No fear. Took the game on. I think we need to acknowledge that this win was just as much about them as it was us. We were off. It happens. We just needed one other to give Clarry a dig out. Our defence have gotten us out of some holes this season but today the defence wasn’t there. May not his usual self. Lever off. Hunt struggling. Hibbo uncharacteristically poor. Losing Salem had a huge impact. His calm and poise were badly missed Fumbles everywhere. The midfield is where our real problems lie. Trac not quite at it, Harmes quiet, Maxy out of form. No cohesion at the moment Dogga I thought played well. His ruck work is very good It’s all about the response now. I expect to see a full blooded effort against the Dogs next week. Let’s re-group and go again. Go Dees

  13. We had a lot of chances going forward and didn't take them, so we shouldn't have given the opportunity for those late decisions to matter. We played badly and they played well. Sometimes that happens. We missed Salem's presence behind the ball quite a lot.

  14. Still remain the hunted, as we are the real thing, though the bookies have the Dogs the favourite in our next game and others would believe the Lions are better than us. Crows would love to knock us over, I expect some fire from them. Time to execute our game plan with some dominance, in preparation for teams that will challenge our best footy. I want to see goal accuracy, effort, some strut, skills, high disposal efficiency and for them to change gears into the top one. Enough of getting through not playing the best footy. I expect we will still be building, and our best will be next week. Our game hasn't been bad, not too many mistakes, we give an effort for the 4 quarters, we have ability to vary our styles to beat the opponents and our pressure game is elite. MFC is a strong and balanced team that has consistency, confidence and joy, but time to get our act together and play some great footy. Gawn to show some excellent ruck craft and field marking. May to kick a barrel from the kick in and to control the structure of our defence. The backline to keep on keeping on, to continue to block attacks and slingshot the ball through the corridors. Jackson to get 2 or 3 goals and dominate around the stoppages. Pettraca to star. Oliver can't be stopped. Langdon has been so consistent as has Salem. We will win the clearances this week. We have such a flexible forward line that must worry the opposition. If one avenue or style is blocked we can go to another and another, and another. Hoping that is also our capacity with the general play. Step it up to our A grade game. Go Dees.

  15. The old man said to me earlier today. "At my funeral, I want the Melbourne Football Club players to lower my coffin into the grave, so they can let me down one last time" Not up to it today. At least it was a team effort (apart from Clarry) Interested in seeing what comes of The Great Reset!

  16. We lost because too many went against exactly what we've brought all year - selflessness and sacrificing your game for the good of the team. Too many trying to be the hero. Too many trying to get the easy kick. Fritta's non-goal just summed up a [censored] day at the office.

  17. It was a great game. Feel we were robbed but at the same time Crows earned it.

  18. Obviously, you don't want to be relying on those free kicks to win a game, but the holding the ball before Walker's goal and the deliberate out of bounds at the end were very poor.

  19. To blame anyone but ourselves for that loss is to wallpaper over the obvious cracks that have been there since we beat Richmond. I hope this is the loss we had to have because boy did we play poorly for large chunks of that game. Oliver kept us in it, but beyond that we had a really embarrassing amount of players who played like selfish millionaires. In footy you get out what you put in. We put in no effort for an hour. We’ve been getting away with it, but eventually your luck runs out. Salem is also basically our most important player. Our backline was exceptionally poor without him. He covers for the mediocrity of Hunt and Hibberd.

  21. First and foremost respect the opposition. Being our intensity from the start, I’d like to see us start a match well for a change. I want to see Petracca at his best today, he’s having a good year but I still feel like we haven’t seen him hit his peak. I want a match that puts the competition on notice. I also want to see us get our clearance numbers back up, we have one of the best ruckman in the comp and we have plenty of capable ball winners. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be seeing dominance in that area. Finally I also want to see Weid have a good game, multiple goals and strong marking. Mark your territory Sam, demand that Brown have to put in a damn good performance at Casey to take back the spot.

  22. Taking my son to his first dees game tomorrow. He is 5. We live in Adelaide and the supporters are impossible. Crows supporters I've given up on because they literally have no idea about the game. Hopefully not too much abuse for me and my lad tomorrow. If he lasts a half, I'll consider it a success!

  23. There is no integrity in the AFL. For those umps to not pay those 2 frees near the end really makes you question the professionalism of this competition. If that was a final.. It would be catastrophic. It makes it really hard to unconditionally love our game.

  25. Also just in advance, can we also have a moratorium on being told to ‘lighten up’ or ‘we’re 9-1 you’d think someone died round here’ or any other cool thing that some freedom fighter wants to say? Most of us will see the light eventually but give us 1 hr at least.

  26. Umpires would be proud getting their team over the line. That missed holding the ball call and missed deliberate were disgraceful.

  27. Salem will be a huge loss - so reliable and creative. Arguably leading our best and fairest.

  28. I gotta have a vent about Sparrow. With 8 minutes to go, we're sixteen points up and Melksham is off with a sore foot and his boot off. Why wouldn't you put a fresh player like Sparrow on? Goodwin was right there on the bench. At a bigger picture, everyone is lamenting Viney not being back. Sparrow has been the obvious replacement for him and I don't know why we're not putting games into him. He's been performing really well at VFL level and this week he just sat in his tracky dacks. We had the opportunity to play him for a couple of weeks and with Viney being a load managed 50/50 proposition, I don't know why we haven't played him. It's best to put games into him now in case Vineys foot explodes again on the eve of the finals. It would have been a good ten minutes to have him on the field tonight.

  29. I hate losing by a point but if Goody thinks we will learn I would like to point out 1. We missed 2 set shots from Weid and TMac Adelaide nailed their shots and were very accurate. Again inaccurate kicking hurts us. 2 They got 2 goals from soft frees in front of goal and one from a deliberate out of bounds call. Easy for an umpire to call early in the game but totally gutless when you ignore one in the last minute 3 Fritch tries a dribble goal when he burned Trac who was next to him. Fritch is selfish 4 Early on the quick hands of the crows smalls, McKay and Laird broke open and red;eased the ball. We need to be better than that to lock that down. 5 Nev was not a good choice to replace Salem and sadly he is cooked and the game is too quick for him 6. Fritch is a down hill skier who is a liability if tough games because he will not chase and does not tackle and is selfish ( I may have already said that) 7. We went long and bombed which didn't really work unlike the Crows who played keepings off, applied immense pressure and tackled like there was no tomorrow. They played man on man all night. We can learn from that These are all things that can be corrected and it was what we produce in the next fortnight that will tell how far we have come.

  30. The most disappointing player is Weed always get talked up but does very little. We should settle on Brown. Full stop

  31. It’s simple. They controlled the corridor. They went man on man and disallowed our game. They slaughtered us in uncontested possessions for big parts. We fumbled and dropped easy marks all game. We bombed it long into the f50 most of the night. Jetta was a liability all game. Falls over more than a baby learning to walk. Gawn whilst better still made a lot of mistakes and is still well out of form. When we got 16 points up we tried to save the game and went long down the line, never looking for shorter options or switching. We didn’t try to isolate Tmac or say Fritsch and keep the f50 open. The doggies will love how easily we are giving up the uncontested possessions.

  36. Very untrue. Adelaide are cutting us up through the middle and are transitioning with ease. Our backline has been very very poor and loose. This is the first time it’s happened all year.

  38. From a strategic POV, we could have gone for the rushed point at the end. There were 3 ball ups. A draw would have kept us on top and we are likely never to match the Bulldogs on percentage anyway. A draw on when one game ahead on top is like a win.

  40. In the context of this year's application of deliberate, it is almost impossible to believe that non deliberate happened. The umpire is possibly not a cheat, but he is certainly a world class gutless squibb.

  41. I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed. Although to be honest, I’m not even that disappointed. It was a hot contest, we were below our best, and it was bound to happen sooner or later. Bring on the Dogs.
