No respect for a defender who thought he was a star forward* Roos knew he was only a defender. Howe and Buckley thought otherwise. Took Buckley 10 minutes to realise Roos was right.12 points

Ouch! No respect for the club that gave him a chance at his childhood dream.10 points

Howe is up there with Chip Frawley as someone who is not all there in the upstairs department. You couldn't find two true simpletons then these guys. Meanwhile I saw that Lynden Dunn was given another year on Collingwood list. Really happy for the guy, soft spot for him and played his heart out for us. Roosy got that one wrong unfortunately.9 points

He's great and a long-term prospect Why play him round 1 against Nic Nat/Hickey and on OS? He would get crushed by both I'm afraid He's a talent no doubt but bring him in when he's ready and when the team has won a few games and there is more team confidence. Would hate to see him debut, we get pumped by the Eagles and he loses some confidence in himself.6 points

Might be a good idea for someone at AFL house to do up that draw for a 17 game season. Equality in the draw at last5 points

All these problems started when the interchange numbers went through the roof. Players could run all day. Kevin Bartlett and Channel 7 effected a raft of rule changes over a 10yr period to speed up the game create more breaks for TV ads etc. That plan has morphed into the scrum we have today The solution is staring them in the face4 points

Tom Hanks! Don’t believe it. Didn’t he spend four years isolated on a desert island?4 points

Removing players from the field is the only logical solution to congestion and should have happened 10-15 years ago AFL grounds remain the same size as 120 years ago yet players are exponentially fitter not to mention the constant rotations Removing players from the field will break up defensive zones because the area each defender will need to cover between opponents will be too large and so will force teams into man on man game plans There will always be "loose defenders" but removing players from the field will limit their impact as there will be greater space for players to move into which they will not be able to cover It will have a dramatic impact on the flow of the game without changing any fundamental rules relating to how the game is actually played. 16 a side is the minimum, I would consider taking it down to 15 or 14 or perhaps even further. I would still keep the wings but remove one midfielder, one forward and one defender to start with (5-5-5) fewer midfielders at centre bounces will make it easier to clear the ball Or we can refuse to change this, keep implementing rules that alter the fundamental nature of the game which have unintended consequences and don't address the issues they were brought in for and watch the game continue to devolve into an unentertaining rolling scrum of players with little room for individual brilliance and skill4 points

Clarkson a mastermind of the defensive zone, and now all of a sudden lacks the offensive firepower of their dominant years and wants to change the rules? AFL will probably bow to his every demand.4 points
-
My idea to fix this is to bring in a bonus point every time a team scores over 100. Coaches will then have an incentive to have an attacking gameplan.4 points
-
Great idea. Just what we need are some half rrrrrrrsd new rules to manipulate/ increase scoring. To increase scoring, just simply remove all defenders from the game. It will open up the game and enable more advertising to take place, something we all desperately want. My favourite ads relate to the myriad ways I can invest and win money on the game.4 points

The Victorian Government obviously didn't get this memo re: the Grand Prix.4 points

Why wait? Why can’t they just do it now, have empty stadiums and get on top of it now instead of waiting for it to get to a certain point before they do, better to be safe than sorry4 points

That is ok with the comments you came out with Jeremy. The thing is that the Melbourne boys are competitive as all the clubs are. they do not forget certain comment at the club. The problem is that they won't forget it and will use it for motivation. It will be just what we need. It could cost the wobbles a spot in the eight in the end of things. I wouldn't be too disappointed if you injured yourself somehow. You played 100 games for us and became an automatic MCC member for the achievement. You don't get that from a feral football club as the one you are playing for.4 points

No respect for him either on these cyber boards. I recall many here thinking he was absolutely dispensable. Jeremy Howe is a bone-fide All Australian key back. They don't grow on trees. We give it, but can't take it at all. Quick to highlight a negative prediction from a journo, but won't apologise when the journo is inevitably correct. I wonder if Demonland will give Jeremy a warning point for inciting negativity and rage.4 points

Cheap shot from a [censored] poor excuse for a bloke. Not surprising.4 points

Discussing it at work today one coworker reckons this is the perfect opportunity to go to a 17 round season; delay season start til Anzac Day Eve etc I personally don’t mind if we kick off the season with a blockbuster against the reigning premier3 points

well ernie, if nobody went about their business we'd really be in a fine pickle3 points

Pretty much spot on I reckon. His other traits are great - he's a fierce tackler for a tall bloke, is good below his knees, hurts people, and he's a great kick. You can see he works his [censored] off - he does a lot right, but doesn't have a lot to show for it stats-wise. If it clicks, we'll have an absolute weapon on our hands. No doubt contested marking is a hard thing to drastically improve, but it's worth remembering that Gawn couldn't take a grab to save himself for the first 6 years of his career. Hawkins pretty much the same. I hold hope.3 points

You can already see Max’s style as captain. Loves to pump up his boys.3 points

How many rucks/ tall forwards can you name that have dominated in their first season? The rare ones that look good from day 1 are man-children (Hogan, Darling). Barring injury, Jackson will play senior footy this year, but he's at least 2 years away from being an above-average AFL player (assuming he makes it). Weideman was one of the biggest disappointments of 2019 (and that's saying something). But he's well ahead of Jackson at this stage and deserves first crack.3 points

Jeremy Howe when leaving Melbourne to go to Collingwood. " Nathan has a defined role for me in the Collingwood forward line.3 points

Just drastically reduce rotations off the bench that will fix all these little problems. because that’s when all these problems started3 points

I recommend that the AFL suspends the first two rounds. Of course, it’s a co-incidence that we’re drawn to play two of the premiership favourites in those rounds.3 points

So telling people to "go to work" if they have Corona virus is excellent advice right? And appointing a politician instead of a medical scientist to lead the response team is the best way to go? And not committing to making the cure affordable for all American's until forced to by public sentiment is good stuff in your eyes? Should I keep going? Orange man is bad. You're absolutely right.3 points

Yes, full scale prevention methods should be enacted immediately. Why wait? Who cares about sport being cancelled for a few months anyway. We'll find other ways to keep ourselves amused. And I'm a sports nut and would never class myself as an alarmist.3 points

If you are not with us, you are against us. Im sure it was Jest, but i love my club and if you are taking swipes at it i will get my backup regardless if its a joke or not.3 points

Howe was given every chance when at MFC. He was and still is a selfish player who would rather play where he wants to rather than be a fully fledged input at a Club.... I have no time for him or his sadistic comments.3 points

I’m all for it. Just a bit of cheeky banter. I prefer it to dull, “everybody’s great”, p.c bollocks.3 points

Bit of a joke actually. But i hope the comment is put up in the players rooms as a little reminder Winning is always the key to these digs3 points

Bonafide AA key back you've gotta be having a laugh. Unaccountable, lazy and prone to turnovers. Refused to listen to instruction and play to team rules even under Roos and was sent packing.3 points
