Great to see the first player suspended under the Maynard Protocol is a Dee. Thanks AFL.

Wasn’t 2 Metre Peter’s hit, the first?

How did the Pendelbury love tap get graded low impact and this is medium impact? Oh I know, Michael [censored] Christiansen is how.

That should be our only argument needed to be put forth. Christian is an absolute joke of an MRO. Displays zero consistencies in his ‘rulings’.

Yes, but unlike where you actually knock out a bloke early in a final and end his career and get off, this light impact will see potential to injure invoked and he will cop a week.

Kozzie is not a Pies player.

As I said.

Potential to injure is invoked.

It is a meaningless phrase, used when needed by the AFL, to prove a case.

You weren’t speeding driver, but you were driving a car and had the potential to speed and I am therefore charging you with speeding. It’s a nonsense.

Did Pendles not hurt Neale, yet no potential to injure argument used to put him out.

I don’t mind being dealt with for what you did, but not for what you actually didn’t.

BTW, Soligo said today there was nothing in it.

Just give Kozzie a week for what he did and don’t confuse it with bs about what he didn’t, but could have.

Contact grading is wrong, in slow motion it’s even easier to see Koz jumping vertically/away from Soligo (in the direction of the disposal, which gives him the best chance to impact it i.e. the smother was his full intention)

Zero concerns or issues from any Crom players at the time, no remonstration afterwards, no medical checks (that I’m aware of) and Soligo played out the game at the same level before and after the incident, glancing blow.

it’s a free kick for sure, or a fine at best, but as always Koz is an easy target. I’ll be disappointed if we don’t argue low contact ant the tribunal and even more disappointed if we hire Anderson

I agree… but I’m  not sure with your user name we want you commenting on this thread lol

Getting sick of kozzie doing this. We missed him in round 0 & now we will miss him in another important game.

Start acting like a team player. We need you

All true. But are you arguing the club shouldn’t appeal on level of impact to punish him? Surely not.

FFS it’s graded medium under the potential to cause injury factor.

Once you leave the ground this is what you leave yourself open to

Complain all you want but it’s the new rules rewritten after Maynard successfully challenged the ban he was given last season

I'm not condoning what Kozzie has done.

 It's a week for me.

But the amount of noise in the media about him is crazy.

Where were all these pundits now crying for Kozzies head when Gus was knocked out of his career?

Because then it was a big club in a final, and in that case nothing else, including common since, matters.

Tribunal. Have to.

Agreed, not just to get Kozzie off, but to hang out on a Tuesday night with 100+ Demonlanders following the live blog.

Agreed, that punch that decked Neale was far from low.

Kozzi has to be graded low. As usual, MRO/AFL protects themselves from litigation for head high hits

Don’t disagree PSD, however the medium impact finding is based on the potential to inflict a higher level of injury than that actually sustained. For last years Bailey Smith bump, and Maynards hit on Brayshaw, these were more likely occurrences to inflict higher levels of damage due to the two trajectories of the two players involved. I don’t think this example could have incurred a higher level of injury to the Adelaide player. But yes, I’m arguing a nuance when we want to eradicate the action, so he’ll go.

Disappointing but not surprising.

Also, much to the dismay of many on here, this isn’t a conspiracy, this isn’t corruption. It’s the completely predictable AFL response to head high contact in 2024.

It sucks, and there’s probably an argument to be made that we could convince a Tribunal that it was low impact, but I consider that unlikely. This is what was always going to happen to whoever was first to clumsily contact someone in the head like this.

Kozzi sprints around all game putting fear into the opposition and manic pressure on every time. He will occasionally slip high while attempting a spoil etc.

He is THE ultimate team player.

He’s been suspended three times in his last 26 games for pretty much the same thing. We love him, but it’s time to get some discipline.

It’s the ‘double standards’ (eg. the Pendles vs Koz comparison re potential to cause injury) that really (censored) me off.  I think we should take it to the MRO, just to see what weasel words are used to justify the decision.

He has changed his play. The head first flying dive stuff doesn’t happen anymore. This latest action is not the same thing and is forgivable imo

If that’s not low impact you might as well remove that as a category

Probably, i was just wallowing in self pity and playing the Dees victim card.

The hit was such low impact that it wouldn't have broken tissue paper.

There have been multiple cases this year where there has been insufficient force to justify a charge and this is another.

What about Pendlebury? No bias or "corruption" there?

If we don’t appeal this it just compounds my belief we play good cop far too often

get him off then sanction internally

he has to stop this nonsense

I remember Sicily successfully appealed medium contact that got downgraded to low contact this season for his kick. I think we have to attempt to take it to the tribunal

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
