Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Adelaide

I'm seeing lots of takes that we'll win this by 5-10 goals.

I get it, we have been going fairly well - but we are playing the Crows at home, and they are under fire with a poor start to atone for. Regardless of whether they have been poor, those games don't matter. This game is what matters. They have played us very well recently and I'm not that bullish. Sure, we CAN win by those margins - but so could they. Against us - a few injury clouds, a 5 day break, hostile crowd - these aren't nothings.

I'm not saying we won't win, or that we can't win by those margins, I'm just kind of in awe of the confidence shown by others. I'll be happy for us to grind out a gutsy, team-effort win against a decent oppositioin at their home.

Dees by 10 points, holding them off late.

The 5 day break is a furphy . Adelaide had a 6 day break and had to travel back late on the Friday night. We don't have to travel as we are already in Adelaide.

Fitness won't be a problem for us.

At the airport and can’t wait for this weekend. First time to the Adelaide Oval for me so looking forward to seeing what the fuss is all about.

The only downside is I have been roped into attending the Pies match on Sunday with my husband. I told him I cannot promise I will not be hurling abuse at he who shall not be mentioned. Will definitely be hoping the Hawks get up.

Go Dees

I dislike them with rare  intensity go Hawks.

Well there was absolutely no need to give us a 5 day break. We did not need to play Port on Saturday night or open Gather Round on the following Thursday. It's just the AFL screwing the clubs they don't care about.

Given the idiotic round 0 fixture as well, it would have been very easy to give us a proper break in between games this early in the season, not to mention skip the back to back interstate games.

The AFL does whatever it wants. Always has.

Every club gets a 5 day break at least once in the year. Maybe the club decided this would be a good place to put it, and actually requested this. It does allow the squad to stay in SA the two weeks while still minimising the whole length of the overall trip for the club and families. I haven't heard Goodwin or anyone else from the Melbourne side complaining about this situation.

I agree. However your last sentence doesn't add weight to that position. When do you ever hear Goodwin or anyone else complain publically liek soem clubs do?   (I just hope they do it behind closed doors when appropriate.)

I think we definitely do.... which is probably why we finally get a home game v Geelong at the G and no travel down to Kardinia! Think they've requested this for 20 years straight....

Was this done via public complaining? No

We asked for it privately for 20 years and my understanding is that we finally got it, but were screwed in other ways such as being one of the unlucky ones to play an SA team in gather round, and travel to Perth twice.

Have a look at Carlton’s fixture and tell me the AFL isn’t frothing at giving them a flag this year.

Oh yeah we definitely get screwed compared to Blues and Pies.... just depends how screwed.

My teenage son. And boy, is he letting me know about it. I get up every morning at daybreak to let them outside except for the odd occasion such as today and he’s messaging me with, “geez they sch!tt a lot!” I would SO put him up for adoption only who’s gonna adopt an 18yo who eats the equivalent of an entire village, livestock included, on a daily basis.

‘Feeding the chooks’ is also a euphemism for what teenage boys when they are left home alone….

On the flip side if we win the prize is big: 4 points and two away trips killed in one 😄

Geelong also have a 5 day break and they have to travel, and played in ridiculous weather with a delay. We are not that hard done by.

If it takes as much as 20 years to get something done privately, perhaps a bit of public whinging would not go amiss.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
