Daniel Turner to Miss 10 - 12 weeks

You gotta feel for this kid. Just can never get a clean run at it. I get the feeling he’s going to be just another one of a long line of talented players we’ve had that just can’t seem to make it on the park for stretches at a time. Fingers crossed.

Far from it: could I ask you to elaborate, maybe give me a definition of what would be ideal? 🥰😍

Ima take the liberty of answering for Ang13: what would be ideal is Disco NOT suffering an injury that’ll have him on the sidelines for 10-12 weeks. Didn’t think that would need elaborating. 🤷‍♀️

10-12 weeks, realistically, means 2925 for him 😞.

Will be 923 years old by then...

...and they reckon Geelong have an ageing list.

I was trying to be STUPID: no harm meant...When you get to my age - 173 - being stupid is one of the few consolations...

I reckon there are a couple of positives being classified as the ‘living dead’. I find that cars generally now slow down when I try and cross the road. Took a while to get used to this. In my younger days I swear they would speed up.

As an aside, I live walking distance from Casey…..so fingers crossed I don’t get ‘taken out’ tomorrow morning 🤞Go Dees

Wod just to set the record straight, from my experience there is no "walking" to Casey.

There is hot stepping across lilly pads via marshy ponds and sloshing through the boggy everglades before finally arriving at said entrance.

Ok maybe Summer is an exception!

My bad, Monbon. I shouldn’t automatically go so hard on the defensive. Force of habit maybe.

Unfortunate for Turner, but he is another whose body seems to struggle with the rigours of AFL level training.

He hasn’t been overly impressive in his senior games, and with Petty injured and future uncertain our KPP stocks start to look thin (especially factoring May’s eventual retirement).

We really need the likes of Jed Adams and Matthew Jefferson to step up these next 2 years along with Roo as our generation next in our bigs department. Fullarton becoming a mainstay would help too.

I understand your comment that Disco has been a  bit of an injury scare ea ch year. Yes it is frustrating moreover for him and the team as our third tall spot is very much a sort of poisoned chalice with Harry quite rightly being given his opportunity up forward to provide a real marking and physical presence for us in the forward part of the ground.

But I don’t agree with you that Disco’s four games only I think have not been impressive. He was the subject vs Gold Coast to a lot of pressure like our whole 6 defenders that day and given the circumstances they held up manfully to en sag Ute we had a vital win albeit a very close one.

Not sure that you judged his last round vs Swans fairly as that showed what Disco could do on his best performance in the red and blue and I was surprised and disappointed that he was dropped for the QF subsequently. I think Simon has starved him of opportunity to get the pace of AFL and more games last and this year should have him cherry ripe for a strong tussle with a rejuvenated Tommo. As we saw with Harry a succession of games is ideal for young players not chopping and replacing them on the run.

Now his future is uncertain for a half season and we should have had a backmen ready for AFL by now. Yes his injuries have not helped but it’s how you provide the opportunity to young players as Goody  has done for  some others that you have another soldier battle hardened.

I believe previously Jay Lockhart had all the skill and ability to replace Nev Jetta but again was not  handled or shown enough faith in developing his readiness for the battle that’s AFL footy. Some players are not Judd McVee’s and adapt instantly and take a little time to fulfil their undoubted potential.

I still believe Disco will make a spot as the third or fourth backman but we are running out of chances if he continues to get injured or is not shown faith and opportunities to jell.

Fortunately we also have Jed Adams who looks odds on to be Stephies replacement in due course. Disco must grab his opportunity as he is running out of time to show his full talent for our team of the future.

Agree we really need to see some of these young talls to show some improvement and consistency - I’d add Verrall to that list

    CONSISTENCY by The Oracle

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D
