Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Gee, all this stuff from posters that we are going to get tough and hurt players because Maynard got off is laughable. Who in the hell from our team other than Viney will show any aggression. Fritta maybe ? Your joking. He doesn't even spoil Quaynor or block a player in the goal line when a goal was imminent. We haven't a hard nosed player in this team other than Viney and even he can't come up against the likes of Maynard. Maybe we can turn to Langdon, Chandler, Laurie, Spargo, BBB and the likes. Wouldn't worry me and I'm 70 odd.

Let's all just get back to reality and hope in hell we can bring our A game on Friday and live another day. Just maybe a win then another against the Lions and get the Pies in the GF and the just play the ball and win. Wouldn't that be nice!. Firstly we have the Blues to get over.

There were about 6 players who were more concerned about helping their knocked out mate, then flying the flag. They had their priorities right.

Viney, May, Oliver, Petracca, Pickett, Sparrow, are all hard nuts

It actually won't at all 'Earl', if anything it makes matters worse for them.

Any legal action will make the point that the AFL rules weren't strong enough to protect the ball player.

This decision will come back and bite hard.

I don't think they have any option but to appeal.

Agreed.

They had their opportunity to stand up for their club and their mate and with the exception of Viney were meek as pussycats.

100%.  Bar Viney the response was shizen.  There's no other enforcers unfortunately

Clearly you forgot about Steven May.
I can name as many Pies players as you listed Melbourne players who wouldn’t go the man either. Or do you think Will Hoskin Elliot is a tough guy? 😂

Plenty of guys in our side who could hurt an opponent. But wouldn’t because they are focused on playing the ball not the man. Shame the same can’t be said for pieces of scum like Maynard, Cox and De Goey

When we played Collingwood on QB we physically bullied them all over the ground. No doubt their first quarter in the QF was a statement and we got caught out. We need to focus one week at a time and then smash GWS in the GF.  How good was it to see Gus running laps today?

Another 48 hours will make no difference.
We were a man down, 1 minute into a Final and it’s all Angus’ fault

It’s “on”

Ok cool.

The next Collingwood elbow that lands on a Melbourne player’s chin, it’s cool because it’s ‘ON’ yes?

JVR did it so it’s now open slather.

Love the zero logic and complete lack of awareness that’s going on.

Remember, my point is based upon Jaded wishing Howe injury.

So, if Collingwood fans were to wish JVR or any other Melbourne player injury based upon what JVR did, then it’s all fair yes? Because it’s ‘on’?

Has anyone on here read the findings. This line.

Brayshaw could’ve executed his kick in a different direction or in a different manner, landed in a different manner or in a slightly different location.

Y'know if Brayshaw just called in sick on Thursday this whole sorry mess could've been avoided.

They'll close the loophole now ... even if a player was able to reproduce Maynard's planned assault, the next player up will almost certainly cop a suspension

The punters would then point at the Maynard incident but because the AFL are a law unto themselves, they'll put some spin on it and Bob's your Uncle

Yes that is also true but would depend on the club/player in question.

Regardless no one knows who will be favoured and who wouldn’t so again, the act is now legal in the eyes of the AFL.

Actually that's an interesting observation. It got me wondering and thankfully it didn't come to this but if Gus had died because of this incident would Maynard be charged with manslaughter? Never mind class actions, scum like Maynard might need to look at what the ultimate ramifications could be.

The next time we play the pies and some Collingwood player ‘tests’ out JVR’s jaw with their elbow, then I trust you’ll be all there saying whatever injury that happens is fair retribution and supporting Collingwood supporters pointing to his suspension is as why he deserves it.

I don’t agree with this call, I don’t like that Cox did that to Maxy, but maintain a bit of dignity and be better than dog Collingwood supporters?

Jadeds post was wishing (its implicit in the statement ‘test out that mangled arm’) Howe physical harm, that’s not on.

Nah stuff that, it's fair game. It's always been fair game.

If we play the Pies in the GF I want to see Viney's elbow in Sidebottom's jaw at the first bounce. Collingwood are cowards, only fight when they have strength of numbers - see Maynard/Sidebottom on Langdon last year, Maxwell et al on Watts in 2008. They've always been like that, it's their culture. Their supporters are no different, they act like hoons because they have numbers, one on one they are just another nuffie.

Gotta brace for the fact the Collingwood Army is worth 3 goals and the club is 2 wins from the flag.

Never underestimate the power of the Colliwobbles.

If we don't get through, Brisbane will maul them. Already done it twice this year.

When Sean Abbott unfortunately bowled that delivery that hit Phillip Hughes it was just seen as an unfortunate freak accident

Gee how disappointing is that. He absolutely deserved weeks.

There’s no point throwing the toys out of the cot as a club.

The players role is to play 4 quarters Friday, our role as fans is to turn up and be louder than we’ve ever been. Control what we can control.

Any updates from @KC from Casey on the Maynard's legacy eg. names removed from honour boards and the like or resignation from Maynard Snr GM role at Casey?

Would never expect him or any Maynard back at Casey ever after this 💩 storm.

On that day I was 15 metres from where it happened and I was ready to run onto the ground. I thought he could be paralysed.

I met Long years later at a horse sale and was introduced to him.

I told him I liked him as a player but that it was the worst act I had ever seen on a footy field and he agreed.

@Redleg I'd be super interested in your impressions of remorse or otherwise, and any other details you'd care to share either here or DM, the veneration of Long has always rung hollow to me and am interested in genuine interactions. I am passionately pro-reconciliation but don't want Long near the process because I see him as tainted. The act that day was shocking and have burnt about it.

It is but it isn't ... do you trust anything coming out of AFL HQ?  I don't and tonight's my final lesson in thinking that the right thing will be done in a consistent manner

I've long felt that to get the same sort of favouritism that the big clubs get we need to become one of those big clubs.  You can't fight City hall

The same thing happens in big sport all around the world.  The big clubs have got the clout

But it's a long haul for us because we lost generations of possible supporters because we were down for so long

But hey, we've got a good team now that should get better (we're good recruiters now) and we've now got 70k members.  So we're not far off.  In 2017 I believe we only had 40k members

Another 5-7 years of constant finals and our membership will sky-rocket

We just need to keep contending and the flags will come

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
