Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Given Petty's form today, Van Rooyen's continuing improvement, Fritsch to come back, and and Joel Smith also competing for a spot, what does Ben Brown do now? He is contracted for next season, surely won't find another AFL club and may be content just to spend a leisurely year with Casey. Or then again he might just retire with a well-deserved premiership medal to his credit.  I hope it's the latter.

I reckon it was 2021 when we beat the Tigers that we started to believe that the team was different. Round 6 or thereabouts?

And again it is against the Tigers today, at least for me, that there is belief that we can put up a serious challenge for the flag this year. The pieces are starting to come together, big names starting to stand up, and some we have not been used to, which is a very important part of it all.

We still have guns to return and look fit, running out games against seriously desperate sides needing wins to make the 8.

We’re headed in the right direction and firing at the right time with A LOT of potential not yet tapped into. These guys can only get better playing together.

So good

What an enjoyable game. Reminded me of the 70's, with the boots being on the other foot. Used to be us having to win against a contender to give us a chance for the finals. They stayed with us, until we ran over them in the last. Well done fitness coaches.

The umpires helped us with a goal from a free and a 50 in the second, that led us to another. Undisciplined Richmond. The next one in the last with the head high free in the goal square that pushed the score well away from the Tigers.

Max just gets better, what a great last quarter.

Our tackling killed them, didn't think I would see Tigers hear so many footsteps and panic.

Great structures around the field. Backline stopped them when they were rushed. Tigers still play the corridor well. Our wings continued to hold their width and give us some outlets. Forwards gave us options.

Makes for a happy week.

12.5 to 4.1 after we got out to a 20 point lead the 1st time.
I was so [censored] off at the umpires today but I don't expect anything different, started with 50 metre penalties then went to [censored] holding the ball free kicks. To the [censored] commentators on top I had to turn the sound off and stew in my own vomit.
AFL can get ****ed.

And if he gets it he will move into rarified air at the top of the seven-club based on consecutive seasons, and behind only Gablett, Danger, Franklin, R. Harvey and Roo.

We made the sub first because our backline was far too slow and was getting exploited.

All the Tommo truthers might deny it but he has a stinker. Coughed up easy possession in the middle of the ground consistently. 5 clangers from 7 touches.

Was an excellent move by Goodwin to make a brave early call. Smith had at least one classic Smith moment with the Balta goal but otherwise gave us much needed defensive speed.

I suspect Hibbo takes the 2nd tall role unless they gamble on Smith full time.

I wouldn't be so hasty, everyone has bad games and he has been very good in recent weeks.

I enjoyed that game

In Binman I trust

I can see what the coaches are doing. But even they must be surprised by how well the fwd line worked today

PS  I spent yesterday at a party with John Beckwith in the room. Not that he would have known I was there. I was too shy to give him a well done and a high five. He looked great. Ninety years and many more to come. Five winning grad finals, wow!!!

Go Dees and thankyou to the podcast team. You help us understand what is going on

Great win

This is what I've been thinking for a while now... we have learnt from last years mistakes and are fresh and hungry at the right time of year...

I would also rest Max for Grundy and Viney for Dunstan this week ?

They are so important to keep fresh for finals

We tackled very well without any reward from the umpires. I kept on seeing we had two free kicks paid to us, for much of the game. Made up a few in the last. More likely the umps swallowed the whistle, and the undisciplined Tigers gave us the break, with that 50.

So have we cured our forward line woes in one game?  Looks like it to me especially with Fritsch to come back to add to the 4 or 5 standout contributors today

And so accurate as well!

The Tigers were under seige and when they did rebound, they couldn't get past their 50 metre arc with any sort of system

Our 3 or 4 lines of defence kicked in from half way through the 3rd quarter and they (Richmond) had no answers

And now we've got the good problem of not necessarily being able to fit Grundy in ... let the media get into a tiss about that as we go quietly about our business

No idea why people don't love Browny. Great person and champion footy player, in his Twilight years but shouldn't have his own teams fans wishing him into retirement

McVee looked completely out of his depth in the first half. He was fumbly, losing his feet in contest and seemed to just lose his composure.

His ability to fight back in the 2nd half and change his game around was very impressive.

Won some huge one on one contests and was able to compose himself much better and compose himself a lot better.

He plays like a mature player, hard to find in a 20 year old kid.

Here in Finland this week, (Kenya was last week) playing K2K with a new Sherrin and loving the game. Both going mental in the last quarter.

We won in the wet and used the ball well, mark of a side with excellent skills, primed for September. Also let me get this in here, our defence is Premiership standard, put under mad pressure today, but I thought Richmond got lucky bounces for a few and didn't see any major breakdown of structure. Salem/Rivers/Lever/McVee(mancrush) rebounding is so good. Great link play by Langdon and Hunter clearly putting his body on line with contact today. Also what ever was wrong with May last week clearly addressed.

Shout to the umps for paying HTB in the last. Obvious Richmond tactic to slow the game up and with a parochial crowd they didn't melt and swallow the whistle. Speaking of which, mad love for Melks effort, but he can do 200 penalty push ups for the stupid 50s he gives away each week, just because he's in the fwd line is not good enough.

Richmond fans whining that Taranto>Viney... Hahhahah only thing I noticed was Taranto sooking. We are running our second string midfield and it is holding up, Gus and my personal jesus (Viney) holding up without Oliver and Trac. Gawn has had 3 games this year where he has been phenomenal and clearly the games best ruck. I feel like those 3 games have put him back in AA frame, they are that good.

I was for delisting Smith and Melksham, clearly I was wrong, while Melks has had his chances over the years, he has changed his attitude somehow and is getting to the ball 1st allowing himself a chance to score. Smith I am so happy for, gives every contest his all and did great work on Dusty, I love these redemption stories, he looked so nearly and now he looks just looks dangerous.

Feeling smug about Petty, but the most 21 thing about the fwd line for me was the goal assists are back, am sure there are more lay-offs to a better position. Makes me feel the team is in the best headspace. (kudos to Brown last week leading the way). And seriously ANB was great today, serious fwd half tackle pressure, did alot of work under heavy pressure, the turnovers only tell the story to the simple minds.

Our 4th quarter fitness is still there, our whole team provided huge pressure on the Richmond ball carrier, magnificent premiership standard effort.

Jordan and Harmes 21 and 22, felt Dunstan was stiff not getting a run today has done the work. Woey stays I like his run.

I thought the umps were really poor in the first three quarters but finally decided to reward some tackles in the last and yea, didn't they hate it.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
