Grundy out jvr in, all the talk will be about a "failed" experiment. I'm still glad we have Grundy at the club and he still might be best 22 by end of the year. I'm glad the footy department are having a look at different combinations. I look forward to seeing what BBB and JVR look like together.

I get you and aGrundy despite his marking is a good player. But by good player, I mean he's a good ruck but around the ground hasn't been fantastic. I guess if you throw in Max having an average season, it's fair to say that to some degree that it has failed. If the objective was to bolster our fwd line than it has most definitely.

Yep, it's the experiment we all wanted to see!

I'm not a great fan of Smith as a sub though.

As big Kev would say...Im excited.

And I.

As for Smith he does make sense as a sub. More so than most of the ones we've had this year at least.

Does Bbb play ff?

So clearly not a fatigue issue based on Richo’s comments.

Just wondering why isn’t Schache getting a look in? He’s probably in better form and is a better ruck option than JVR.

Because Schache is a very ordinary AFL player and JVR is going to be a very good one.

Yes - lets hope he's not bitter

Yes, my thought too. My memory has him reportedly being quite miffed that he was cut to accommodate the risky young Hayes (??)

Sadly due to the cr@p competition known as VFL Casey have another bye so the Brundy getting to learn forward craft in VFL will have to wait another week.

So I guess he gets a good rest then.

How many chances will Kozzie get?

Harmes, Chandler,  Grundy, van Roo have all paid the price.

He is literally the only forward we have left who can turn a game in a matter of seconds. Now is not the time to make our forwardline less potent

Out of interest, what is your understanding of what the 'loading period' included? From a numbers perspective? There are so many question I would love to ask Selwyn.

E.g. in an average week player X does 60 mins at zone 2 + 20 mins in zone 4 (excluding game time). Therefore the loading period increased the running minutes for player X by? P.s. these numbers are totally made up. If we could find out the additional minutes or kms the player ran (even very roughly), there is plenty of normalised data you can use to predict an increase in aerobic performance.

Did Selwyn speak about what the loading involved? Assuming it's purely low heart rate base running (zone 2).

This may have been answered already but last year I believe they were talking 35km’s a week as the norm and then upped it from there.

They may go up between 5-10% but that’s probably higher end

RUBBISH SELECTIONS

Goodwin and Selectors have lost the plot, totally .... so you drop a guy that got very good contested possesions last week for a kid that was Shizzen last week at Casey and is second Ruck???? GOOOD LUCK SIMON.And while we are at it Schache kicked 4 last week and was super impressive , yet no cigar??

Watch this explode in our face tomorrow night

NO IDEA🤮

No doubt the FD failed to look at the VFL draw on the fridge in the staff kitchen before making the decision?

Brodie is on 193 games. I hope he plays his 200th this year. 🥹

Hibbo and Max are on 194. Barring anything unforeseen Max will play his 200th vs Hawthorn in round 23, our home game at the ‘G, which is also our BCNA Field of Woman match. Hibbo… who knows?

Langers plays his 149th game tomorrow night. His 150th will be next Sunday vs the Crows in our home game at the ‘G. That is, barring injury or being rested, managed, omitted, dropped, dumped, 86d, jettisoned, kicked to the kerb or in any other way not there. 😁

There is acknowledgment of a milestone on tomorrow’s banner, but it’s not a player. It’s the 500th game of John Stanaway (father of Clint) who is a trainer and has been with the MFC since the 1990’s. This probs explains why Clint is a diehard Dees fan. He’s a cheer squad favourite and was actually in the cheer squad growing up.

Oh and lil Spargypants is on 95 games. Nibs is on 144. It’ll be great to see them celebrate their milestones in five and six weeks (respectively) for the obvious reasons but also to annoy the “fans” who bag them week in and week out. Cheers Big Ears 🥳 🍻 😂

God I hope Brodie comes back in and plays an absolutely blinding finals series.

I’d like nothing more for him to show what a good player he is. Far too many being smug about a guy whose best makes him a top 20 in the comp player.

I think it's probably a mixed bag. There are probably a few haters but to be fair he hasn't kicked many goals or taken many marks. He's certainly a good at his designated craft of ruck but we already have one in Max. I think we all expected the player not in the ruck to drop back or present up forward. Grundy hasn't really dominated in that role...perhaps a few times in defence he's been good but since Max is having an average season by his standards, the combo hasn't really kicked on. Would love to see it working like it did pre season, so there's still hope. But given we lose a tall fwd option in having them both and our fwd line is struggling, it will be very interesting to see how we go this round. Let's face it, Grundy will kill it at Casey if he plays there so I imagine it would be hard to keep him out.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
