Kane Cornes' Top 5 Players

Cornes clearly says incorrect and inflammatory nonsense so people react and talk about him.Ā

i’m amazed people fall for it

I enjoy it and it really doesn't matter. It's not a bad top 5. I love that we have so much quality these days we can be shirty about it though.

Ā

I get Cornes is divisive but what's wrong with the list? Hard to argue with the top 4. Dangerfield should be replaced by Clarry.Ā

He’s a bit of a harmless narcissist - revels in Ā the controversial-subjective, knowing it will get under everyone’s skin but also knowing he can’t be wrong.

Not entirely sure that the issue is with this list. His opinion.

People want to be triggered for the sake of being triggered.Ā

Certainly triggered Pies fans. Where's little Nicky they keep saying.

Yawn. Cornes is bandwagon stuff for the short-term memory. He really lacks depth; rather, he looks for sensationalism placing it under wraps in order to look analytical. Within days, his opinions fragment, dissolve, rot - at least that provides him with a chance or two at finding another few bucks from another few 'non-critical' abstractions.Ā

I’m more inclined to agree with Clarko’s assessment that we have 8-10 All Australians at the moment

You lost me at Kane Cornes

Probably lost most ppl.

Though Kozzie says HiĀ Ā

I’ve heard those top three a bit recently. Funny, I remember in a particular game at the end of 2021 when halfway through the third quarter, the commentators were raving about Bontempelli. Oliver went on to him, Bontempelli was hardly seen again, and Melbourne dominated. Doesn’t that say something about the respective quality of the two players? It was, after all, a reasonably important game.Ā

I dont mind his list if you define it as - Which players can produce a burst/ quarter of elite footy to turn or win a game.Ā  You always have to keep them covered.

For the best footballers see coaches votes.

Dangerfield?

Yeah, OK Kane.

I think it's a good list.Ā

Danger might be a reach based on 3 good games though.Ā

You said it.

Talk about clickbait.

Kane's mastered the process and its now pretty easy to identify.Ā

Talk to the hand Kane.

Champion team > Team of championsĀ

System and culture > individual performancesĀ

SEN (read Collingwood's surrogate broadcaster) and it's hosts are a very hard listen now and have been ever since Hutchy took over.

Super cringeworthy especially Radar and, aside from Brenton Sanderson's analysis on a Thurs, generally a very very boring lot that just talk AFL speak & pander to the Collingwood nuffies.

Sando's session is available via the Thurs Whately podcast and is the only piece i bother listening too.

ā€˜Top 5 Players’ makes the criteria very unclear, but if he’s saying the current top performing or in-form players, then the only one I’d strongly disagree with is Dangerfield.

Agree Daz.

I recall the quoteā€ opinions are like a…holes, everyone has one.ā€

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
