I agree, but temporally in the other direction. The Richmond players you are thinking about should have retired last year.

GC 3 straight wins now. This isn’t the soft  kill  it looked like a few weeks ago… they’ll be primed to rest themselves against one of the best.

Two wins not 3. Both those wins were against putrid slops although they were cheated out of a win by the umps against Freo.

Definitely a game to take very seriously and they should head up early this week not wait till the last bloody minute. ffs

Where does one park when going to a Gold Coast game?  Driving down from Sunshine Coast for this and I can't make heads or tails of the Gold Coast Councils parking rules / durations for 'Traffic Area' in nearby streets.  If anyone has done this before, can you please enlighten me? Right now i feel like I will have to park 30+mins away and walk.

There is a parking area to the south of the Stadium off the Nerang/Broadbeach Rd. Pretty sure you pay as you go into park. It's only $10 I think. Pretty easy to exit after matches end to return same roads you used on the journey there.

Might pay just to look on goldcoastfc.com.au website or ring  them if any doubts.

Danger game this week. Whilst without Miller, Suns are otherwise at full strength and are looking for a big scalp.

I would be putting time into Noah Anderson.  Seriously is close to A grade now imv.

Big Danger game,

Jump them early like we did against NM.  No change unless someone has a niggle.

Give Petty a rest and Spargo a run in the VFL for a week.  they are both in our B22 i think but petty could do with a rest and unfortunately Spargo just has to go and wait his turn now.

Danger players are:

Lukosius - Smooth link up player that can catch defenders off goard with his 60m pin point passes, Tall and athletic too, hard match up - Lever would be the right player but Lukosius does go up the ground a lot which lever wont want to follow him. Maybe Rivers.

Witts - Just a good hard ruck, hopefully our two can outwork him around the ground

Weller - Good running def, think Hibbo is the man for this

Anderson - He is class, maybe get Viney to go head to head with him.  But our Midfield should get the choccies.

Should be a nice drive! Must say I'm jealous.

Everyone seems to want us to play our best 22 (or 23) next week. It’s round 8 into a long season. Last season we came unstuck through fatigue and doing just this, playing what Goodwin thought was our best side every week, whereas Geelong took more of a squad mentality and rested blokes along the way. It’s clear we need to do that, but at what point of the season? Now, or do we want to get to say 8-3 or 9-2 (which we are almost certain to do) and then do it, with the knowledge our fixture in the second half of the season is nowhere near as brutal as last season?

Problem I see with this approach is if a logjam remains at the top of the ladder and there are 5-6 breakaway teams all around the same number of wins (which could well happen), it would be tempting just to revert to last season’s approach.

It doesn’t matter how high we finish after the H&A season if we’re banged up and buggered when the finals start. We should know that from last season.

I think a 3 quarter sub out should be another mechanism we explore rest our best. The weekend game was a good example of resting Hibbo when the game was done.

The game against the Suns might give us another opportunity to this.

Also we have a twilight game, hopefully we can wrap up the game before the sun sets and humidity picks up and the ball gets all dewy.

Goodwin confirmed in the post match presser that Petty would be in on the basis he passes concussion protocols. Petty effectively had a rest not playing in the North game. Goodwin also confirmed Spargs was available for selection, so don't be surprised if he gets the nod as well. Hasn't been dropped since I don't know when.

I did see that, i just think he has been pretty banged up so give him another week.  they will know where he is at.

Apparently Schache had his hand in a brace today at training so there might be a forced change

There’s car parking directly across the road from the stadium (blue car park) and you can buy a ticket through ticketek ($20)

Hope that helps PD

Schache should stay in my book, made a couple of really effective contributions and a goal.

Actually seems to know what to do in the ruck, which is to touch the ball in the direction one wants it to go.

We need young fast players against this mob, able to run out the four..

I wonder when McVee gets a rest? I reckon he's struggled the last two weeks.

They might push him til after the Freo game and then bring Salem straight in for him as head into a difficult month (Carlton, Collingwood, Geelong).

Petty may be an in given that The Shack is looking like an out with a bent paw. Thought he was a bit tentative, bit Weedlike, for a bigger body anyways.....who is to be the sub? Harmes again? Milkshake served up a 5 goal BOG for Casey, which keeps the pressure on, as does Charlie's availability......further spoiled for choice with MacT, BB et al  in the wings....no wonder Nibbler is playing like a Demon possessed....

He is apparently only a couple of weeks away which gives him 2 games at Casey first. That would be about right I would think. They won’t let him waste his time at Casey for any longer unless he’s really in bad touch or struggling with fitness/pain.

There would appear to be other ways of managing players throughout the year, apart from being rested from a game. From the time on ground stats, it would appear that, on Saturday, we started to rest our key players a bit more during the game, which is pleasing from a management perspective. Trac spent 9% more time on the bench than his yearly average to date ( 75% game time against 84.2% game time); while Oliver spent nearly 7% less game time than his yearly average to date ( 79% against average of 85.7%). This equates to over 2 minutes per quarter of additional rest - which must feel significant for both these warriors.

More like, strapping/support, from wrist to just below the elbow.

He didn’t want to use his right, was marking with the left, and doing light training away from the main squad.

With you on this Spirit. Was at the game last year and it was tough going for us. In fact the Suns give us a real run for it in most games up here in Qld. Will be going to the game expecting a win and be happy to just get the 4 points. Suns are improving and have decent players on all lines.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
