Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Trade Rumours 2023

If as reported we are not trading anybody and potentially have room in our cap to spare, why wouldn’t you take Nick Haynes from GWS who has reportedly 1 year on his contract in exchange for GWS first pick (#6)?

Im not sure if GWS have cap issues but surely it’d be worth it if we have cap to spare for the year and it would be unspent otherwise.

I especially like it when journo's quote each other as 'sources'.  I reckon there would be merit in a blog that scrutinises AFL journo's, kind of like the media watch program.

Yeah the great line they always use is " the player X to club y talk just won't go away" . That's because they are the ones who keep talking about it to fill airtime, after just usually making up the rumour or getting it off a fan forum in the first place.

FWIW, I think both Gawn and May replacements (break the glass options) should be younger players who they can steward into the team. I think the reverse is true for a KPF. Is lynch too much like JVR (a worry if his is still in a boot)? We need a BBB (TMac) replacement big leading forward that frees up the rest of the forward line as threats.

Its a shame JJ is likely to leave, he will do well at Sydney.

I get the concern/interest in planning for life without Gawn and May in 2-3 years time but that has to be a distant second to winning premierships in the next 2-3 years.

Maximise outcomes now, draft sensibly and remain an attractive club for free agents and we can stay in the top third for  a long time just like Geelong, Sydney and others.

The club's trading & drafting strategy has been really clearly communicated over the last 4-5 years. They will assess the chips they have to play with and then work on scenarios that make us better overall than what we were on the first of October.

Draft picks: 4, 15, 23, 34

Players seeking a move (as reported): Grundy, Harmes, Jordan

If the Blues are happy to offload Harry I can see a deal where a pick from Sydney and one of ours facilitates an outcome.

I'd have thought Grundy and a first round pick for a 200cm 25 year old key forward who averages 2 goals a game makes us better?

Rjay join WWSW under that rock. Darren Jolly  was freely given permission to go to the a Swans from none other than The Reverend ND as he believed we didn't need a second ruck to help Jeff White. Worst decision by ND IMOpinion.

That's not my memory and Im happy to be corrected, but Jolly cracked it due to ND playing Jamar in front of him late in the season and looked to leave at season end.

Hindsight is 20:20, but Lobb should have been our choice last year instead of Grundy.  A second pure ruck (who we now all know can't play forward) made no sense for us, and a forward ruck made even less sense for the Bulldogs.  I would have backed us to get far more out of Lobb than the Bullgods did, and even there he still had some good games.  I expect its now 12 months too late for him to be a signifacant recruit for us though.

Yes, hindsight is 20/20.

With 20/20 vision, I have no idea why you would want to take Rory Lobb. He’s horrendously inconsistent, doesn’t work hard enough and isn’t tough enough.

I watched of few doggies games this year. He was dreadful. His attempts at contesting were truly pathetic. If Sam Weideman got on your nerves this guy would make your head explode.

Re. Tom Lynch, I saw him a couple of weeks ago walking VERY gingerly in a moon boot.

This is what Richmond said about him way back in early July;

“However, they confirmed on Thursday night that the 30-year-old would have a further operation on his foot and miss the rest of the campaign….

We have monitored the bone throughout the season, and the healing process has been slow”

Tom Lynch is definitely not recovering as well as expected from his foot issue. Take that to the bank.

Again..... can we avoid foot issues,  especially if well known and documented.

They seldom get 'better' ..  and when do..   somehow the afflicted never seems quite the same..

Computer says NO

We could ask the Richmond foot medico... wait on he's a Richmond player... he'll be fine

Can people please stop bring Lynch into trade discussions please, his tummy is full (2x Premierships) and won't recover from his foot issues.

900k- 1m on a player who will be sitting in the stands like Grundy, please!

All we will be doing is topping up his super.

Not a rumour, just an easy target: jackson hately. Was on trade radio pleading his case and daresay there wouldn’t be many fighting for his signature. Nothing particular flashy about him but with JJ and Dunstan out I think he could be easily sold on playing for Casey as a low contract player. Need to keep shape in the reserves, can’t develop players without some guys taking the hits, and can’t see us drafting an inside mid so would be a good stop gap.

Fritsch isn’t the brute like Mackay, Lynch et al but by hell he’s our most prolific scorer and is quite simply ‘the man’ in our FF line.
We missed him for a chunk due to injury and it clearly impacted the team negatively.

Personally, I can’t see the massive difference a guy like Mackay or Lynch would make on top of another year into JVR and particularly if Petty will remain forward

Unless we haven’t decided that Petty is a permanent forward and will go back.

Wouldn't have thought so.

For us to even contemplate it Oliver would have to showing Hogan-like concerns.

Even then, we would need to get 2 x top 5 picks.

Twomey doesn't make stuff up so the only thing I would take out of this is clubs are asking.

It was actually Riley Beveridge that said it. Twomey was beside him but I was only listening, not watching, so didn't see his reaction.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
