Trade Rumours 2023

I have no info on the package required other than Carlton are ok for McKay to talk.

Could we give him an additional year for the same total commit? EG TCV doesn’t change.

The big selling point from us is that McKay would be our undisputed #1 target.

Had we kicked straight we could have been premiers. We played both finals without Petty and one without JVR.
Yes we had some other issues but none of them need McKays presence to fix. Carlton would be laughing at us for years if this was to eventuate.

If Carlton are prepared to release McKay from his long and lucrative contract, then alarm bells should be ringing.

Like Grundy, we would be getting a player who is coming off his worst season. But unlike Grundy, we would have to sell the farm to get him, because I don't see the Blues getting rid of McKay as a salary dump.

A big no for mine.

McKay is risky cause we'd need to sell the farm as contracted. But even with his flaws he'd make us better, not sure how people think otherwise.

Lobb, again, even with his flaws, would also make us better, and we'd probably get him for a nothing pick.

I very much doubt that the McKay talk is real. I would rather we trade up as far as we can and get best available. It worked in 2019.

Rip into this draft including trading a future 1st if necessary.

Next year we will see further cap freed up via all or 2 of Brown, TMc and Tomlinson - so we can go for a Free Agent.

Assuming you could get him why wouldnt you play McKay in the ground and have JVR and Petty as the deep forward.

He’d provide a good target on the wing and is an ok field kick. Can he improve F50 connection? Who knows.

I can’t see it being anything but picks 5 and 13 though, which I wouldn’t do. If it was 15 (or 10 or 11) and F1st then maybe

Lobb, McKay….

Surely we’re not that stupid.

McKay, JVR and Lobb forward, Petty back.

It's aggressive, but I like it if true.

Every KPF is linked to us….. sounds like the media is seeing a hole and linking us to anyone and everyone.

Every Bulldog KPF is seen as bait as they have a surplus.

Reid and WC pick 1 is seen as available due to not being a native

I could make this [censored] up. FFS

He's not worth 3 first round picks no Fuggin way, Id be giving them the following of the two, pick 13, future 1st rounder and or what ever we get back for Grundy hopefully pick 11.

Pick 5 should not be included in this deal unless we are getting something back in return, would rather draft a young gun mid with this.

That's a ripping deal for Carlscum and we are taking on his salary for 6 years.

Having said all this i would prefer Naughton over Mckay any day of the week.

He is worth pick 5 plus a future 1st

Lobb has had 2 good seasons in 10. It’s a no!

You just need Lobb to provide reasonable back up ruck work and then an ability better than Gawn or Grundy to play forward and it's a win. He could absolutely nail both roles.

I think if he was in the ground he'd struggle aerially. Not sure on this

In many respects, Lobb is the perfect ruck/forward to add to our list this stage. He's not the guy that's going to take over from Gawn, that'll be a fella by the name of Sean Darcy in 2025 or so ( 😉 ), but he is perfect for the time being.

If I had to swallow it, I’d go with what @Gawndy the Great suggested which was effectively using him as a link player, keeping Petty and JVR deep.

But then how much do you pay for a link player and with Fritsch also fwd I think that throws out our balance.

We also need pace and classy ball users.

Was that not his role at the Dogs?

I honestly think Petty needs to go back to defence.

We might have 1 maybe 2 more seasons of May, then I think Petty takes over.

But this all depends on if we can land a key forward.

    CONSISTENCY by The Oracle

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds. After a slow start in the opening term when they failed to take advantage of the breeze, it appeared that the Demons had decided
