Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Southport should be in the AFL instead of the Suns. Actual club with history, established supporter base and jumper that doesn't induce nausea.

1000%

They have more members than most AFL clubs and certainly more than GC ever will.
AND they can financially support themselves.

I just can't see Weid at AFL level, if Grundy is recruited to the club no chance.

I can, I believe that he now should be persisted with as a direct replacement for Luke Jackson. Weeds was OUTSTANDING all day in the ruck !! He was immense today and I would scour the country for a Key Forward to work in tandem with JVR, and BBB,

I reckon T.MAC is cooked!

What a gruelling, gutsy hard fought win that was.

Credit to all the boys who appeared to give it everything they had from the first bounce.

Sharks are the real deal.  Some real tough nutz and genuine footballers in the mix.  Impressive switching and transition play in the first half.  Really took the game on.  A bit wayward at goal.  Clarke, Woodcock & Kwaby stand outs in that first half.  Kwaby in particular looked very dangerous at times but faded a little in the second half.

So proud of the boys today.  No doubt some sore bods after all that crash/bashing.  Felt really sorry for Rosman missing this one.

Stand outs for mine for Casey...

Turner, Joel Smith (particularly the last quarter), Tomo, Dunstan, Melk, Munro, Bedford, Brown, Chandler (fantastic courage & second efforts all day)  Baker, Woe & Laurie.

Baker may have saved one of his best for last.  He was very solid today in shizen conditions.  Over ran the ball a few times but who didnt.  Then straight back into it.  His pressure / chasing without the ball was superb.

Melk's goal from 50 & Mitch's goal in the teaming rain from about 40-45 near the boundary in the last quarter were  crackers and sliced the Shark's fin for good.

Mitch was also hitting packs hard as was JVR.  JVR shows no mercy and i wouldn't want to be playing in front of him once he's put on an extra 5kg to 8kgs or so.  His leap off a few steps is a tad Nic Natesqe.

Melk's goal from the kick out of the scrum at HF also a highlight.  His stint in the AFL appeared to result in him being in tip top shape for this hit out.  He was running on top of the ground from the get go, albeit his opponent Kwaby was also finding a little too much time / space for my liking in that first quarter and a bit, offering plenty of rebounds for them.

White a deserved Goss medalist.  This bloke is everywhere at times and appears to have a huge tank.  He's the epitome of the old school classic utility and a superb one at that.  Reckon he would have fitted in beautifully into many good AFL teams in the 80s!  He's at AFL level now IMV ... just not sure where you would play him though.

Congrats to all the Casey boys on an amazing year.

Great to see the Demon Army out in force behind the goals.  Sat with them in the first quarter but the netting behind the goals was too much for this old timer to bare.

Big thanks to KC, Werridee, NS and plenty of others on here for their coverage throughout the year 💪🏼🏼

Like so many here, I am pleased that JVR, Turner, Bedford, Chandler and Woewoden all showed their wares and won a VFL flag. My hope is that all of them push for a senior spot next season. Bedford should be putting pressure on Spargo and has some serious wheels. JKVR is the forward you build a team around and Turner is slight but reads the play so well.

I liked Weideman's game and still has time to become a ruckman forward. Wooewoden is so balanced and must have a huge tank as he was everywhere. Chandler was also everywhere and I just hope he can cement a spot in the firsts.

Southport's heavier bodies applied plenty of pressure in appalling conditions making that a meritorious win and well-deserved flag.

I'm going off his whole season of VFL footy. Averaged 18 touches and nearly 2 goals a game. Always played with intent and the pressure we need. Should have been rewarded more often.

Sorry replied to wrong post Layzie....was meant for this post lol.  Agree re Chandler.  Him and Bedford shouldve been in for Spargo or ANB on a few occasions i reckon.

Yes everyone will scream 'role players' but sometimes you need to manage those role players and try and slot others in just to see what they can bring and also to give them a few decent blocks of games to find their mojo.  Also handy 'ins' if one or both of the others end up injured (depth!)

Haha no problem. Yeah would be harsh to judge Howes on today. Can't wait to see a full pre season and an injury free run for him.

Not for mine. Tommo could though, think we sometimes forget how good he was in 2021 before injury.

Disco is a fave of mine, but I wouldn't have him in Petty's role along with Lever and May. I think you need 2 gorillas and 1 intercept player for that big 3, and I think of Disco more as the intercept type, maybe even more like a tall half back type, rather than a key back. I wouldn't be totally against having a crack at a back 7 of May, Lever, Tommo, Disco, Bowey, Salem and Rivers though (pending Petty forward).

Lots of great young talented kids coming through.

JVR, Turner, wait and see for the first year kids. Hard to see anyone else who will play 50 AFL games out there today, not when they’re stuck getting 8 touches a game

Adam Tomlinson is finished Lord Nev. I don’t know what Casey games you’ve been watching, but he is very far off the pace

The entire first quarter was played on the opposite wing to his. Not sure why you’d leave a player stuck on one wing but that’s Melbourne/Casey.

Second quarter he had some contests that provided chances to get involved and didn’t win them. Nothing awful, seemed to make good position just didn’t get the ball.

At some stage after half time he seemed to shift forward and got a few touches.

He might have to shift to half back similar to Rosman to learn the game. Or go to half forward which was his juniors position before going on to the wing. He’ll be better with more continuity as well, was a good effort to play some handy games after a 3 month break

Merely said Tomlinson "could" get back into the lineup to free up Petty forward, didn't say he would. Was fantastic in early 21, and looked like he had found his niche. You never know what can happen, and we don't need a gun player in that role anyway.

What a win congrats Casey well deserved.

Loved Weid's game. I think he's found his spot. Hard to see him get in front of Grundy but he's there if Gawn or Grundy go down then he's good insurance.

Loved Joel.Smith game. Think he will make a difference in our back half. Can play tall and small which is a rare attribute with any player, more deserving of a spot in the team than Rivers.

Loved Chandler's game too good not to be at AFL level should take the underperforming Spargo's role.

Woewodin I think he's our next wingman in line. I think he's just got it would be surprised if he didn't play senior level next year, not sold on Laurie or Howes need to get a bit more of the ball to be up for senior selection.

Love Turner his 2 smothers were brilliant. Great cover if a backman goes down or they play Petty forward.

Fantastic to see 2 great stalwarts in White a deserved winner of the Norm Goss medal and Munro get rewarded with a premiership.

Interested to try to get some more vision on Kwaby Boakye from the Southport Sharks.  He looked to be a strong running half back. Strong build and excellent left foot disposal , even in the wet.  Maybe a sneaky late draft pick imv with the ability to step straight in.

I was just about to post that I wouldn't mind if we gave him a rookie spot

Went along with the family; loved showing my 18 year old what going to the fotty in the old days was like.  We wound up on the Northern wing in front of the old members stand.  The 1sts were ensconced in the back of the stand and got pretty vocal as the game wore on.

AFL Stand outs for me were

Chandler - worked hard all day

Weid - Tireless against a significantly bigger body

Woey - A real surprise packet. Excellent field position and game awareness

Melky - Too good for this level

Disco - Blue collar solid

AVR - Battled hard on a day designed specifially to NOT showcase his skills

My son who stood out in the rain for the duration while faint hearts saught shelter - a true next generation Demon diehard

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
