Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lions vs Tigers will be fun to see how far Tiger players go in goading Zorka into a brain fade.  Cameras will follow his every move.

Reckon they'll push him to the limit!!  Then S-N-A-P?

Cats v Demons , I reckon for the big dance.

been that way since July

the others not quite as strong

go Dees

This post is going to age really well by 7:30pm Saturday if both sides salute in week 1.

Would take a catastrophe for either side to not make the GF if they both win this week.

Thanks Binman.

My family and I moved to North Wollongong about 10 years ago.

My daughter is in Melb this week and wants to know of a pub where there will be plenty of Dees fans watching the game on Friday.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

She's in Hawthorn but happy to go into the cbd.

Many tx.

I stopped drinking at the beginning of COVID to lose some weight. And haven't picked it back up again, so i'm a bit out of the loop on bars (i've discovered they are not as much fun sober).

But i'd recommended the Duke of Wellington on the corner of Flinders and Russell.

Back in the day it was owned by Brian 'Whale' Roberts the ex tigers player, and was a classic old school footy pub.

It has been completely done up, and now looks super trendy - and seems to be packed all the time. To be honest, I've not been there since its make over, but i've heard it's a pretty cool (youngish) vibe, the food is good and lots of TVs with sport on them.

Great spot, particularly if you are coming into the city before gong to the footy. Twenty minute stroll to the ground post drinks.

Napier Hotel in Fitzroy / or the Standard, not a super big Dees crowd, but relaxed non feral crowd, good banter and no agro makes for a fun atmosphere and lots of good grub and fine beers to try.

Tussle of the big cats

Media narrative: Tigers are a top 4 team wearing the cloak of a bottom-half-of-the-8 team. Lions hAVe nO heARt.

My prediction: close game, Lions will come out on top because they are a better team, playing on their home deck and probably have a more calculated fitness base for this stage of the year. Zorko to tell Lynch he smells funny but it's ok as long as he is being himself. Brissy by 9 pts.

Canberra cup

Media narrative: Syd-nay an amazing unit, playing two years in front of itself, well drilled and led by a tactically brilliant coach. The Dees are a quiet juggernaut, seemingly ramping up towards the sort of finals form that made the entire competition wet itself in fear 12 months ago. However Sydney can win because they beat us by two goals 3 months ago.

My prediction: Sydney to show up and a very hard fought game for the first 4 minutes. Dees to put on 5-8 goals in each of the first two quarters and keep Sydney to 56 pts over the match. MFC by 48 points.

The backyard battle twix bird and beast

Media narrative: GFC are the greatest institution to ever exist, Chris Scott is some sort of demi-God wielding a troop of the greatest warriors to ever walk the earth. How can we be so blessed to witness such greatness? Pies the young, up and coming list full of verve and audacity, both of which they have acquired through heavy gumption training sessions.

My prediction: Geelong are bloody good and I reckon they will smash Cwood, but also largely cos the pies are like us in 2018. They will run out of legs. That being said, they are a way more experienced team than the narrative around them and there is a chance they can take their run one game further. Honestly, if this game wasn't being played at the G, my favoured result would be the entire stadium collapsing in a giant sink hole at half time. It kind of makes me sick to think about these two teams at the same time. Puddy-tats by 37 pts, AFL to order a pyramid be built next to Science Works, dedicated to Chris Scott and a raft of tissue injuries for Geelong.

The 'why can we not send them further west?' Trophy (aka the Docklands derby)

Media narrative: 🦗

My prediction: At some stage on Sunday evening we will remember that this game happened, check the scores and find that Freo have dismantled the dogs. This is because Freo are a very good footy team and will make their way to a prelim, if not a GF. Also, on the other hand, the Dogs suck. Purple monsters by 25 pts

  • IN Darcy Wilmot, Deven Robertson
  • OUT Cam Rayner (Suspension),Jarryd Lyons (Injured),Noah Answerth (Suspension)
  • In Dustin Martin
  • OUT Jason Castagna (Medi-Sub),Shane Edwards (Omitted)

Mitch Robinson is stiff!  and Lyons is a big out

Whateley just said we drew 90K plus to our home finals in 2018.

I was at both of them and my recollection is different.

Anyone got the facts?

My recollection is the G was rocking both nights. And the house was pretty full each night as well iirc

Can't get the exact breakdown but we had 241k over the three finals games. Perth held around 50k IIRC so that makes 95k approx for the 2 Melbourne games

PS Found them

v Geelong 92k

v Hawthorn 90k

v WCE 60k

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
