Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

josh corbett who took 17 marks and kicked 4.4 in the suns elim final win over BH is on the radar of the lions to replace mcstay and the dockers to replace lobb, wonder if we'd ask the question as a depth option as well given our talls situation

Just saw that Port may enter the race for Brodie Grundy. If that is the case and Jacko leaves, would we potentially look at Sam Hayes from Port to play with Max as a younger ruck option? He dominates at SANFL level and is only 23.

From the little I've seen of Sam Hayes at AFL level, he's purely a tap ruckman rather than a follower. Has no impact around the ground and takes very few contested marks. He's not the type I'd want as a no.2 ruckman.

I still don’t get it

1). The Bulldogs have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to tall forwards - Naughton, Bruce, Sam Darcy, Ugle-Hagen, Schache and English drifts forward too. Yet they are said to be chasing Rory Lobb?

2). Any club would want Jackson but Freos need for him is way less than say West Coast who has a talented but fat, injury prone 32yo, one effort ruck who is desperate for a “Luke Jackson type” to support him. On the other hand Freo have an up and coming dominant ruck in the 23yo Sean Darcy. Jackson would be playing behind him as he does behind Gawn with us. Freo and Jackson don’t seem like a natural fit particularly at a $1m a year cost to Freo

I assume Oliver Henry would be worth a look? Promising key forward, pies struggling with cap space.

Not sure where he was drafted but you'd assume if he choose to leave it wouldn't cost a premium

interesting alright, but the dogs issue all year was quality tall fwds that take marks.  Naughton was triple teamed.  Schache is useless, UH and Darcy are young but look good.  They need another tall to be 2nd ruck with English and take some marks

On number 2, Freo are deperate for talls especially up fwd.  with Lobb goen, Tabener always injured.  I think they will not play Jackson no 1 ruck while Darcy is playing.  Does LJ want to play predominately fwd??  doubt it

Only thing that makes sense to me, is LJ has been enticed by the big $$, and using the “go home” factor as a convenient excuse

LJ has said and done nothing about any proposed move He will consider his position after the season end

I fully expect him, as I have from the start of this BS, TO RE-SIGN WITH THE DEES

There is no compelling reason to do otherwise and many good reason to do so!!

Got serious potential this kid, just turned 23. Surprised Geelong aren't linked to him.

Don’t disagree with you Kent. But the fact that to date he hasn’t signed up to a premiership team who is well placed to go back to back, is more to do with the potential $$ on offer, rather than any desperate need to go home, in my humble opinion.

Was drafted late first round. He's also not a key forward at 189cms and 81kgs. While he's a decent young talent, he's not what were after as we have enough mid and small forwards. We need key forwards.

If true, then go hard! He's shown he could become an elite ruckman as he matures more and like his brother his aerial work and contested marking is very good. He's the right age bracket having just turned 23 years old a few weeks ago, so he'd be perfect as a long term ruck options after Max.
23 years old, 203cms tall, 103kgs, very athletic for his size. I'd be offering him a decent bit of coin and throwing a first rounder at Carlton for him.

Him I would love. Can ruck, mark and play key forward.

Tommo would make their backline better and could be part of a deal.

Get him and we forget about Grundy.

Apart from Bruce at a pinch none of those Dogs talls can second ruck (would be a huge risk using Darcy in that role next year). Darcy is also likely to play down back. They’ll turn their talls from a weakness to a strength by adding multiple pieces. Lobb’s just a piece too, not a huge cost.

Jackson clearly isn’t keen on West Coast. He’s not leaving us in contention for a 2 win side.

Reason 1 for Freo getting Jackson: 2 rucks who can both hold their own forward and play the ruck role differently is a huge advantage. Takes a lot of pressure off the key forwards.

Reason 2: Darcy is a free agent at the end of 2024 and I reckon Freo know he’s either going to cost a fortune and/or head home then. They have the cap space and trade resources now to lock Jackson in and can then make a call on Darcy in 2 years time.

I can’t see Carlton giving up TDK this year. They’ll hope to either play the 2 rucks or give him a chance to win the starting job next year.

If that doesn’t happen he’ll become a target but that only helps us if we don’t go for a big target this year and wait to get him

Any more bio on Josh Corbett? Age. Height? Weight? “Plays like?”

I'd be putting the chips in on De Koning

Would you to make such a compelling and early offer that puts us ahead of 16 other teams and the good likelihood that he stays at Carlton? Plus be willing to wait until 2024.

He’s a big talent but I wouldn’t be that level of chips in. Not when we’ll need useful solutions for next year.

Surely Carlton don't lose De Koning. Is he looking for a big pay rise?

If the opportunity is there we should go for it. A better option then Grundy you would think (and i'm not against brining Grundy in for the right price)

If he's at all gettable I'd be going for him over Grundy that's for sure.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
