Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Can mitch cleary get suspended for a week for that aggegious misuse of the hyphen in "one-match"?

Possibly should be, but we may have to send you before the panel as well, for using a ‘fake word’ in place of ‘egregious’ 🤣.

No coincidence that Warner’s piece came out today - the Hun would’ve had this story, fact checked it with the club and allowed the club to release the statement before running with it.

Pathetic behaviour on all accounts, regardless of alcohol being involved or not. These guys need to grow up.

Doesn’t seem as though all is as together as we might wish: hopefully not the case.

Not sure I've ever seen the Herald Sun and fact checking in the same sentence before. It's not the way that particular newspaper (for want of a better word) usually operates.

Ugh.

I hope I'm wrong, but it's starting to look a lot like all the talk of being hungrier than ever for another premiership is just talk. Crap like this, some lazy performances (yes I know we won 10 straight, usually off the back of a quarter of decent footy, sometimes even less - and as is now quite apparent, we had not yet played any of the real threats this year), and some of the guys who look completely off the boil (where did our intensity go? Our tackling? Our selflessness?).

Anyway, I appreciate that's a bit broad for the May incident (intensely stupid, and disappointing from someone who is such a leader on the ground, and has come such a long way from his start at the club - and correctly punished even though it hurts, as there's no other punishment that makes any sense/protects the culture we have worked so hard to create).

Hopefully this doesn't cost us the game against the Pies. It shouldn't, as we are a great side, even without May, but geez we haven't looked it for a while), and we really need the win to go into the bye with a much needed boost. We need to take stock, remember what we came here to do, and get it done.

The "scuffle" consisted of "flicked gravy" and "May tipped over Melksham's chips"... 🤪

I know it's a parody account, but it would be nice to think that Melksham would fire up when the chips are down.

Very disappointing actions from former captain Jake Melksham. He should receive a lifetime ban

He doesn’t need it after recent “performances”

There is a four lettered word that contains the word “log” that sums up May right now.

Seriously one dumb individual.

And another 4 letter word, also containing f Seruoudly, this is a pivotal moment in OUR club’s season.
May is our most important player in the backline, and we have lost two perhaps largely due to his absence for 7 quarters - now, looking for him to return and add stability and leadership, and 💥

Win (if this fires up the remaining players a hell of a lot we may yet do it) or lose, he owes his teammates and us supporters big time for the rest of the year.

Anyone know the specifics of the incident?

Without knowing specifics, Jake Melksham was a highly rated boxer as a junior. In my experience, boxers dont really prefer to use their words in a disagreement and do like to "take it outside". I dont know May orJake, but neither would avoid escalation when the boxer wants to butter up.

Not saying thats what happened but Melksham is known for his boxing ability.

The Melbourne Football Club is aware of an altercation that occurred in Prahran on Sunday evening between Steven May and Jake Melksham.

“Following a dinner on Sunday evening, Jake and Steven informed us of a scuffle that took place after a lighthearted disagreement between the pair escalated.

“Both Jake and Steven had been drinking at dinner and are incredibly remorseful that things played out the way they did.

“Given Steven is still under the AFL concussion protocols from Round 11, he was aware that under club guidelines he should not have been drinking.

“The leadership group has recommended to impose a one-match ban on Steven, a decision which has been endorsed by the club’s broader leadership. This will make him unavailable for both AFL and VFL selection.

Not Friggen Good enough, One match Bah, two minimum and massive fine for both. Just Rubbish!!

Other players should be "Livid" I hope Goody went to town on this, given the team is now close to under siege it was all we didn't need! 😱

For my entire adult life any bad Melbourne news chilled me because I thought it would stop us from ever winning a flag. Now we have I can't bring myself to get upset about anything short of armed robbery. Good luck to all involved, won't mean a thing by September.

Every player at the dinner had no problem with May drinking until he got caught.

So…. They can’t exactly be emphasising the high standards.

Given 2 of our older players were there I wouldn’t be surprised if many others in the leadership group were too.

Hit the nail on the head Deespencer.

This is close to a whole of club issue if other teamates didn't call the drinking concussion protocol at the time. May and melksham aren't alone in this escapade.

Goody and all fans and support staff would rightly be furious.

Other clubs have 1 rule for stars and harsher rules if you're not a top 22 player. (TIGES for example)

We don't so well done to club and leadership group. The dividend will be down the track.

P.s. I'm furious as well but will give my best support at the G on monday

Devastated. Lets see if the wheels are going to fall of or can the team unite and have a big win against the filth. To lose May and to lose to the filth in 1 week may be too much for me to take.

This guys sums it up best.

Does he? Not sure about that, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if it didn’t occur to the other players present that he shouldn’t be drinking until after the fact, as it wasn’t a standard condition but was specific to his own circumstances.

There is crucial information about what happened missing from the story so far - who else was there, how long had May been drinking for, did anyone have the chance to notice and call it out, how much did he drink, etc

On the face of it, and assuming he was drinking when the club’s rules say he wasn’t allowed to, suspending him is the correct call. Yes it punishes the team. That’s part of why it’s the correct call. If it had been a fringe player, it wouldn’t punish the team and therefore would be easier to stomach, but that means senior players can get away with things.

I am keen to learn the full story before saying anything further though.

I’m super disappointed. I love Steven May. He’s everything that our footy club wasn’t for 50 years. Unrelenting, ruthless, ridiculously competitive and tough as nails. He made a mistake, he’ll pay for it, and I’ll still love him - because you’ve gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette and Steven is the first in line to break em.

I guess I’m saying he was probably being himself, and that’s what makes him an incredible player. While you can be disappointed in the action you have to see it as part of the entirety of the person. He’ll be livid, as he should be, and now he owes his teammates and the club one.

Get behind him.

One report has it they were at 'Entrecote' which isn't exactly the local 'parma and beer' place.  It is a pricey french restaurant in Prahran.

If they were dining in either the bar or the restaurant and the scuffle was on the premises the management and other patrons would not have been impressed.

If they were at 'Entrecote' just as well the players self reported.  The club would have heard about it, pronto!

Looking at the menu you'd need a footy player's pay packet to have lunch there! woooooo

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
