This is flat out embarrassing. Getting destroyed by a lower mid table interstate team on our home deck. Just pathetic.

"Home deck". Please. They can [censored] off back to windy Hill.

Assuming Geelong beats Hawthorn tomorrow, there will be a two game gap between 7th (likely Carlton given its percentage) and 8th (Collingwood).

Five weeks in, we are getting close to the point where the top 8 starts to take shape. There is a reasonable argument the top 7 will be playing finals this year. You'd think the 8th side will be the Dogs, with Collingwood, Richmond, Adelaide, Gold Coast and GWS mid-table sides who will win some good games but not enough.

My hatred ( I know wasted energy) of Essendon knows no limits. What they did to the competition with drugs ( whatever it takes - James Hird) I just cannot get over. And how weak the AFL were. I have missed the last two Melbourne V Essendon games as I cannot cope with their supporters. The only fight in the MCC that I noticed was way back when Salem won us the game. Two Essendon supporters went feral and started jumping seats to punch Melbourne supporters and fair and square hit two women. They were stopped by security and turned out to be sons of an Essendon member. Father lost his rights for quite a while.

Generally will not watch any match with them in it but flicked onto #504 and am enjoying Fremantle's game. BURY THEM FREO.

Rant over.

I too survived several visits to Windy Hill. Hate them more than I hate Carlton

Not sure the Dogs will be the 8th team. Their game plan is very basic and relies on too few to make it work! I really think they are a club with no Plan B if they start to come undone during a game.Even if they are I think we mentally scarred them last year and you will see that play out during the remainder of this year. They are an organisation at war with itself! Maybe Collingwood could surprise a few!

I went a bit early with Carlton in saying they’re a flag chance.

I don’t think it’s a sustainable model to require 7-8 goal leads at half time against poor-average sides only to fall over the line because a McKay or a Weitering took a match saving mark.

St Kilda and Freo look like they have more substance to them and we may have to face of these two sides to get into a GF.

I still think the best teams are Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Carlton and Geelong.

Not convinced about St Kilda and Fremantle just yet.

Not sure how you're convinced about Carlton after their last two weeks. Showing up for the first half and just getting over the line ain't gonna cut it for a whole year of home and away, let alone the insanity that is finals pressure.

I still don’t understand how this guy is so despised, like wtf?!

Don't get me wrong, he is a really really good footballer, but the constant staging for free kicks, throwing his head back, and over celebrating is really grating.

I hated this kind of stuff if my own team mates did it when I played local footy, and I still hate it. It is also what put me off Brian Wilson at first, and even Kozzie was doing it in his first season.

Freo is miles ahead of Carlton because they have a good defensive structure.
Carlton will look like an A plus team and then immediately drop their bundle. They remind me a lot of the Dogs right now, reliant on having a perfect midfield game to dominate games but can’t handle any sort of pressure or defend behind the ball.

Freo are very good.

I’ve said it before but I’d love to see the examples that so anger people.

They still got the 8pts and they'd be happy with that.
Good teams find a way to win the close ones and all that jazz.

He also tends to drop his knees when tackled from behind so the tackler falls on top of him. Does it all the time but some umpires seem now to be aware of this. Watch the GF and see him doing it when Pickett tackles and dispossess him and the ball goes to Bowey to set up the Brayshaw goal. Weightman flops like he’s been knee capped and Pickett falls dead set square on his back. Luckily the umpires ignored this.

Well, I'm not going to put a video package together for you, so feel free to undertake that task if that's the proof you need. Some players irritate me for certain reasons, and they don't you. I'm ok with the difference of opinion.

    CONSISTENCY by The Oracle

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds. After a slow start in the opening term when they failed to take advantage of the breeze, it appeared that the Demons had decided
