Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

How long does syndesmosis take to heal? Syndesmosis injuries generally involve a period of immobilisation for 4-6 weeks depending on severity. (Yes that means a moon boot!) Following this we allow a further 6-12 weeks for a full recovery.20 Apr 2021

Not Good if true!!!!!😢

That’s only if surgery is required

As much as I love Max I think this in an opportunity. It was alluded to by someone from the Sydney camp before the game last week that they were setting their midfield up to shark Gawns taps. In effect assuming they would lose the tap and instead just clamp down on our mids, this seemed to play out at times with the limited room and space we had at stoppages. Add an extra around the ball which the oppo has done of late and it adds up the handball merry go round leading to a turnover we’ve been doing a lot of lately.

Perhaps now our mids can be the hunters rather than hunted and we can freshen up our approach to stoppages.

I am really looking forward to the upside surprise I think we will all get from Jackson having 80% ruck time

Not sure why the 'yeah nah' then in response to me saying 'don't change the game plan'?

Nev, Jimmy is a former “high grade player” so apparently his insights are more valuable.

Needs to change the name to “Jimmy - high grade player” so we all give him the appropriate respect.

McInerney (204 cm 110kg, 47.8% hit out win and 8.2% to advantage)) is a decent ruck and Fort (204 cm 98kg 45.3% hit out win and 4.5% to advantage)not a bad back up.  Will be a massive test for Jackson (199cm 100kg 32.6% hit out win rate  2.1% to advantage).  I've not liked what I've seen from Jackson in ruck contests this season.  He needs to halve this if we are to have any chance.

Jacko has the leap and 2nd effort to compete well

Can he go for % time to be first ruck?

And what happens when he has a break???

With this injury to Max plus the 3 consecutive losses and the stupid public scuffle between may and Melksham it is all come together to form a perfect mid-season storm over our bye weekend. For me, while I do not enjoy the situation, it will give us a clear insight into the quality of our coaching panel and the depth of our player leadership group.

Goodwin, Williams and Yze etc. have had a very good ride in the first half of the season on the back of the team not setting the world on fire but winning 10 in a row. Now is the time they have to earn their stripes. This will require a massive re-set of the playing group, afterall the next game is against Brisbane who I believe are a very strong contender for the flag this year. After the last 4 or so weeks it is a hard task to win that game.

Player leadership group will need to come up with a player response to the situation as well. No Gawn on the ground over the next two weeks and we will need the midfield leaders in particular to stand up and give direction to the team structures.

One area where we need leadership from both the players and coaches is in the forward 50. in the last few weeks we have had no structure in this area of the ground.

Hope the club uses the bye week well and come up with some answers.

Tigers couldn't win without Rance.

Crows can't win without Modra.

Bulldogs can't win without Murphy.

O wait...

It is a lot harder for us, but not impossible. We are struggling, but not beaten yet.

Time to see how what we're made of.

Big job for Luke Jackson as he is now our number 1 ruckman. Could this be the making of him?

Does this mean Sam Weideman becomes the 2nd ruck? Majak Daw hasn't exactly had consistency of games in the VFL.

Would that also mean we have to play both M Brown and Weid...lord no!!

I'm not suggesting a game plan change, not sure how many times I need to say it.

Jimbob... the FD tinker every week... it's not an absolute... yet the punters on Demonland deal in absolutes...mostly.

What sort of tinkering are you suggesting, that perhaps the FD aren't putting into place?

*postscript... were you concerned in the first 10 rounds?

I know you're not new to footy, so I'm sure I don't need to run you through why changing game plans halfway through a season is a bad idea, even more so purely because you have one injury that might impact for as little as 4 games.

We don't need to devise a different way to play, we need to stick to what we know and be better at it.

"Just be us". Remember that? Got us a flag last year, which you have been banging on about for ages and then forget after 3 weeks and go back to ranting.

Different personel need to be shuffled around to cover injuries and form. For the last 3 games we have lost in exactly the same fashion

The Game Plan needs a re jig, for the run home

Or does it??!

Maybe the coach has a reason not to panic, like the majority of his snow loving, fair weathered supporters?

Different personnel doesn't mean new game plan, in fact, I would argue it means quite the opposite.

Clearly we haven't executed the game plan well for most of the year, but it's safe to assume we haven't changed much about it since last year. So what parts of our premiership winning game plan do you suggest we change?

I don't think there is any other option than the weed in for Max. For those calling on Majak have a serious think about the consequences. He is not in any way up to AFL standard.

Do you KNOW that or is it just what you want to think?  Others who watch VFL have other opinions.

Every team should have the same bye length

this is really poor

The fixture is just a total shambles but i am sure the AFL couldn’t give a stuff

The bye is a shambles and just to reinforce it Gil wants as his parting gesture to give us an odd number of teams, necessitating byes, just to make us appreciate how good it is now as compared to how it will be. 😡

I live not far from casey and have regularly attended vfl footy and have watched Majak play " live " quite a few times. I will firmly hold to my opinions.

I am not panicking. But to lose 3 times in a row the exact same way tells me the system is not working with the available personel

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
