Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No that's not right

They made all the promises to LJ without having the trade currency to trade him in. They have had all year  to get this organised and now they will force us into a crappy deal

I was meaning (at this point in time), Freo can only work with what they have. Doesn't mean we have to like it.

We have made it possible when needed, they have the tools available to do it, they are choosing not to. Simple as that.

I am at the point with their [censored] poor trade deals that I would say to WC fire sale on Jackson. Next years first round pick, plus this years 2nd round. He said he would go to either club, see if that was genuine or a crock of [censored].

Would Jackson care if the Dees receive pick 13 and a future first rounder from Freo for his services. OR would Jackson feel that his value is far less than what it is really is. If West Coast trade their 2nd rounder then they would be out of the trade deal . Perhaps Jackson could put pressure on Freo (via Bell)  by telling them if you want my services you have to ......... Jackson doesn't want to go into the footy trade pool. Perhaps he may consider staying.

Why would Jackson care what his trade collateral is? He knows how Freo value him in the most tangible way possible - the $$ they have promised

He could be traded for a new Laptop and a bag of redskins & I'm betting he'd still be happy with the $$ he's taking away to play footy from home

This idea that he's going to shutter his future earnings just to repay us morally for having drafted & developed him is just nonsense.

Yeah and I don't think Jackson could convince Bell to pony up on the draft capital. He's really got no say in how the trade develops

Looking at the big picture, LJ was a windfall gain when we had a good side but crashed in one year. WA have been screwed over by the eastern states with the AFL set-up which destroyed their native competitions but made them travel across the land in planes to participate in the top tier competition. We were naive putting all our eggs in one basket. The king is dead, long live Brodie Grundy.

You assume in all this that Jackson had made his mind up prior to last year's trade period that he wanted to go home.

How do you know that? He was barely 20 years old last year's trade period. It's not exactly incredulous to think that he might not have known what he wanted to do at that age.

So long as he hadn't told us he had already made his mind up, we were always going to back ourselves in to convince him to stay. Who knows how likely or unlikely it was 12 months ago that he might have committed to a longer contract.

Also a little unreasonable to expect him to tell the club five minutes after having had a premiership medal hung around his neck  to make a decision on his long term future at the club when he's celebrating with his team mates.

People seem to have conveniently forgotten that after we courted Cerra, Freo asked for Jackson in exchange and we knocked them back.

They didn't have to join. We really should go back to the VFL and just poach the best WA talent when they're in their physical primes.

What did we give for langdon? He was ooc and had two consecutive top 5 finishes in their b&f.

If it was unders I'm sure they're bringing it up as a reference point.

Strangely enough we could easily have taken Langdon through the PSD but we gave 22, our 2020 second rounder and 79.

Reasonable for an 11 -15 ranked player

PS: They gave us 26 so it was cheap in retrospect

Wonder who they took with our 2020 second rounder (it would have been around 26 I suspect)

They sent a second back too iirc?

There was some deal that year from us that essentially gave them both young and serong. Let them get two picks in before a henry bid. Serong would've been playing for Carlton otherwise. They should be thanking us.

Nah that isn’t right.  I tell you one way to CHANGE what you have - trade Lobb.  They’ve options, choosing not to progress them.

Lobb at this stage is getting them pick 30. That's essentially their F2. It doesn't open up anything.

Lobb only becomes relevant when dogs trade dunkley.

Freo also gave us pick 26 in the Langdon deal (which we bundled up with our future (2020) first round pick to North - pick 13 in the end)

In exchange we got pick 8 from North which we used on Kossie

n.b. pick 8 eventually became pick 12 after academic & F/S picks

Effectively we got Langdon cheap ... one pick in the low 20's

Freo traded their pick 10 and Adelaide's second (f2?) for pick 8. So at the end of the day they ended up giving us two second round picks and langdon for a two point upgrade.

I wonder if they (Freo) have got the Hogan trade & Langdon trade in the back of their minds right now.  Or front & centre of their thoughts

They lost out both times so they might view offering pick 13 & F1 as being fair trade for Jackson

This episode highlights the danger of letting players run down their contracts. You end up relying on good faith negotiations with the likes of Peter bellend.   We have no leverage. It’ll be 13 and their f1.

So if they don't offer picks, surely player get involved.

Jackson's manager initiated this so he needs to sort it out.

Otherwise Jacko walks or re-signs.

Don't take unders. Make a stand

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
