I must say, Cats were hands on knees in the 3rd qtr. That's when I started thinking we might run over them. It was a longshot thought, so glad it was right. That free against Bullen for Htb and Brayshaw's oob put me over the edge tonight. Just proves umpires don't understand the game.

But the perfect fifty m penalty.

That was my best football moment since the last home & away game, Western Oval, 1987.

Oliver: I hope Max doesn’t hook it.

Danger: Um um, if he kicks it the coaches award is yours and you’re probably taking Charlie home too.

What an incredible win, the boys look absolutely pumped. So many games this we've faced adversity and come out on top, let's go the whole [censored] way!

At halftime I just kept thinking of the Lions game. Same issue, getting smashed around the clearances. We didn't make much headway in the 3rd but the final two goals that quarter were crucial. Then put the foot down in the last and dominated out of the centre in a blistering display. That is premiership footy. Plus we get an added bonus of having the second quarter to review and work on our deficiencies while still getting the win and the minor premiership 😍

Absolute proof positive that we live in some sort of scripted matrix.

We took the red pill.

And the blue one.

Dear lord.

What was that.

Let's be clear: we were the better side for all bar 20 minutes. Geelong played 20 perfect minutes of football and I thought we were going to lose top spot because of just 20 minutes.

But the better team won.

I'm sure there will be some on here who will say we over-reacted to that win but IMO it may well be the greatest H&A win we've ever had (surely top 5), secured top spot after a tough year, gets us control over our finals destiny, and beat Geelong in the process. The reaction IMO shows the unity of our side and how much we want to win, and want to be successful and relevant.

Oliver should have just sewn up the AFLCA award and may have grabbed a Brownlow too. That was an elite performance.

It's no coincidence that our A-graders were the ones who were down in the second quarter (Gawn got belted, Lever/May owned, Oliver/Petracca nowhere to be seen), but simultaneously where the ones who dragged us back into it. Gawn got back on top, Lever and May in the second half rectified all their poor form, and Petracca lifted.

This could be a watershed moment for this club.

I'm so proud, but mindful that we have to reset now because a minor premiership isn't the real thing.

I stopped off at the Bottle shop on the way home from work, only to find the bastards had closed 30 mins before the advertised time.

Lucky for me i am a nurse with a decent supply of alcohol swabs to suck on while watching the replay.

GO DEES!!!

Ho hum, yet another regulation win.  :D

First time in our long history that we've won a game with a kick after the siren and some form of poetic justice served given how Max missed a similar match-winning chance against Geelong a couple of years ago.

We were , jumping up and down, shouting , crying, you name it!

That was one of the the best Captains  performances I’ve ever seen by Maxy.

That last quarter was gargantuan.

When you go back and watch the replay. If you listen closely as Max takes the mark, you will hear Matty Richardson go "oh f**K" under his breath, hillarious

Shed a tear at the end. One of the greatest victories I've seen for this club.

For our belief coming into the finals, we had to respond after half time. What great momentum we have going in now.

Posted in the game day thread how would our supporters have gone if they were Blues supporters in 70 granny. Low and behold same margin 44 points. Would suggest a few non believers have a good look at their posts. One word embarassing. This team is the real deal with so much upside. They have given so much enjoyment to long suffering Dees supporters. Whatever happens from here I love the team for what they have delivered.

Still recovering. I can not believe what I witnessed. We were gone in the second half. I thought it was over. What a fight back. It’s so often the other way (us giving up leads and losing). This will be a game we’ll be talking about for years.

Redemption for Max Gawn after 2018. Minor premiers for the first time since 1964. The first time in my and all my brother’s lifetimes.

So proud of this club ❤️

Watching the second half again now, but this time in a verrrrry different mood.

With five minutes to go in the third quarter, Melbourne are about to kick 43 more points. Geelong are about to kick 2 points.

The GREATEST win I’ve seen from the club. As happy and proud  as I’ve ever felt as a supporter. I’m sure the Brisbane boys just gulped hard .

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
