Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Afl article states its their inaugural jumper they'll be playing in and makes no reference to it being a heritage only jumper.

Was this clarified elsewhere?

Just heard on the news that the jumper revealed yesterday is unlikely to be worn for the majority of games

I have no issue with there being 19 teams moving forward as the competition has already been compromised to within an inch of it's life. We now have states being invited to outbid each other for their local teams to get additional home games whilst simultaneously all their competitors have to travel interstate.

I actually love the club colours and logo but would only go with the state jumper during heritage rounds perhaps.

I heard that they had over 25k signed up at $10 each.  Its a sneaky way to get GF tickets

Having a full legitimate Tassie membership would only help if they made the GF wouldn't it?

They don't even enter the comp until 2028.

So are they getting two years of compromised drafts? Where do we see our list during those 2 years being 2026 & 2027?

Luckily we have most of our key players penciled in for the long term. We just need to be smart/cautious with our young guns like Kozzy, JVR, Rivers et al.

I’ve just read they’ll get similar picks to that of GCS & GWS but have to trade them for established players. Why would you? In all seriousness they might nab 1 maybe 2 established guns of the game on excessively massive contracts plus the reported sign on bonus, but look at what North has put together in just 2 drafts, Sheezel, Wardlaw, McKercher & Dursma. Would you rather those 4 kids in 4-5 years or what you traded for from other clubs.

How do you know that one or more of those four players aren't in the Devil's sights for those early pick trades?

McKercher would be, but will he want to leave? In 3-4 years the Roos should up and about playing finals.

We were royally screwed when GWS and GC came into the comp. At the bottom at the wrong time and with an abominable recruiting team

100,000 people have coughed up 10 bucks each apparently.

Report of 120k now, the majority of Tassie address according to articles.   Brings ups the argument of the value of memberships to the club. Are they for additional revenue with current membership packages, it should they be cheaper and then leverage as a marketing list.  By making them cheaper for the majority like a $10 - $50 basic membership , the club gets access to a bigger market to sell to sponsors. Which is worth more than the $ we get from the existing packages.

looks like libs might only get 14-15 seats of the 35, which places them in a very awkward position

final make-up of their parliament won't be known for some time

Hare-Clark system seems better described as  Hare Brained.  Guaranteed to result in a divided compromised government.  Probably appropriate for Tasmania though.

so if lambie's party holds the balance of power after today's state election, and they are fundamentally opposed to a new stadium being built, does that mean they can block it?

i'm mostly here just for the afl having a massive sulk

Was discugusted by listening to Gerard Wheatley carry on the other day on AFL 360 that politicians in this country should 'grow some spine and get behind these new stadium builds' with reference to the Gabba/Olympics and Hobart stadium funding.  Geez Gerard not everyone can be gifted taxpayer gazillions like Geelong to rebuild thier boutique stadium.

While I'm all for appropriate investment in stadiums such has occurred to the MCG over the years, in the current economic climate, I agree that it's not really appropriate.  WA/Perth are rolling in mineral royalties, so thier recient upgrade isn't such an issue.  The Gabba is still a great quality stadium, although possibly 10,000 seats too small at times.  If there is really so much wrong with the Launceston and Hobat stadiums, the AFL should stop Hawthorn and North playing there imeediatley and give back the Tassie govenment all that sponsorship funding.

What I think the new Tassie govenment really needs to do is get some gumshum and go to the AFL CEO bloke who replaced Gillam what's his name and say "Hey AFL we've got 100,000 members signed up her now give us the F@#*ing team we should have had 10 years ago when you poored millions into a team in Western Sydney that still only has 20,000 members.  We'll play games at the existing stadiums in Hobart and Launceston until we're good and ready and maybe you can put in somd cash to upgrade them to persevere the game in a grass roots football state."

Yep to all of that

AFL should fund the stadium. Lnng suffering taxpayers being done by pissant politicians who only see what's in it for them

Go Jackie stick it up them

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
