Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Great reporting guys.

I'd like to hear thoughts on Kobi Farmer. Is he a possible chance for a spot on the list just by watching his training standards?

Good question   and what height is he and guess at the weight compared to perhaps Spargo Kossie and Bedford and even the 2 new guys Laurie and Bowie     have I got that correct ?

I disagree - I think he offers something with his field kicking ability and speed that many of our mids don't.  He's obviously also very capable in the air and in one-on-one situations.  Given he's a left footer, could he be a genuine option as the other winger to Langdon?

I know people have said that Baker, Hunt and even the new kid should play this role but I think he offers more than Baker and Hunt at least IF he has the tank and has the desire - last two years he has looked like a player that's only willing to play on his own terms.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was sure Melky was a natural right foot kick but very handy on his left as well.

Deffo a right footer.

Good on his left as well, but the right is his natural leg.

Seemed to struggle in the repeat running routine. I think he still has some work to do on his fitness base, but that's without any real study, just a casual observation. Too soon to judge him.

Thanks Pit.

What about when the footys are out? How does he go in that aspect.

A big thank you to our intrepid reporters. They may have noticed a fellow with camera and tripod in their vicinity. He is a demon tragic whom I often catch up with at training (in the past at least) and at Casey games. With his permission I will share some of his photos and a few comments from him and myself.

Young Farmer may not be as tiny as some have suggested.

Must be quite funny for Wiz and Yze to be back together at the club and seeing us at Casey fields. All those years of training at Junction oval in season and then Sandy in the off-season.

A reminder just how slow and bad the club has been at getting us a proper base of operations.

Kobe’s height doesn’t look terrible but he is very slight and skinny. Definitely not expecting much from him this year (should he get the nod).

yeah I'm not really sure how Melksham fits up forward anymore. he seems to lose a lot more 1v1 contests than he used to, and to my eye he looks too slow for it these days as he doesn't have the leg speed to pressure and tackle, or to even get around an opponent with ball in hand anymore. instead he usually just tries to kick around corners in general play most of the time which has seen his disposal efficiency go well down over the last few years (Jones also has this same problem, but i am heartened by the reports of Williams trying to eradicate it at pre season training which will also hopefully carry through to team selection as well).

i also think Melksham doesn't really work hard enough to be a mid either, we already have too many like that as it is, and as a 'run with' player i'd prefer Harmes in that role anyway if we were going down that path.

i find it hard to find a spot for him in the best 22 to be honest, as he's been on the downward slide for a while now.

This bolded is the key.

Hello dworship, I could tell he was a demonlander tragic like myself. I'm pictured here with the red cap by jeff's elbow. Hopefully i'll get to know some of you die hard supporters like myself in the future.

Kobe wasn't noticeably different to Kossie and Spargo he's definitely 170+ when I saw them all standing next to each other. I have to say though... as much as I love the fairytale of a Farmer dominating our forward line. I just can't see it in Kobe. He just doesn't have elite attributes for a player his size. He was very tentative at training. If he has any chance at landing a spot on our list he needs to give it all his got.

Patience ... working into a higher level of the game takes time for most youthful exponents. He is likely to turn a corner or two at a moment's notice once the 'settlers' have calmed him in training routines. He must have something other than lineage that makes him worth the effort. I'd reckon at this stage it is 'footy smarts', for starters.

I too have heard this similar description about Kobe.

It would be easy for a player like Hunt to be pretty disgruntled, every year they seem to find a new role for him and then lose patience immediately when it doesn't work.

Particularly when someone like Melksham gets games on zero output.

True to an extent however not sure how many other clubs would pick him up if we delisted him.

Absolutely, you would think his management have been asking the question over the past 2 years.

If there was interest, he would have gone.

I'll just add, this is all an opinion based on how I think things would have played out, rather than any facts.

Melksham played 5 or 6 bad games in a year where our delivery of the footy in to the forwards was horrible and he had to uproot his young family to live on the road for 4 months, next thing he's the whipping boy of the entire list ?

Don't be so fickle. Back our people, especially our leaders to bounce back. He's a class act.

He's defensive efforts were poor all year as was his appetite for the contest. That he captained the club for a game was frankly insulting to members, players, the jumper etc.

He does have talent, especially his ability to hit up a target inside 50, but if he can't do the basics then he's not a leader.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
