So a “Board director at Carlton” has shown you a text from Patrick Cripps phone? This text message was from Clayton Oliver, saying he wanted to go to the Blues and play with Cripps?

You get a screen shot of it per chance?

$300k per year for 5 years.

Paying 1.5mil to have a player NOT play for you.

Incredible.

I doubt the $300k is for 5 years. Would suggest it is only for the remaining term of his  contract with Collingwood not the new Doggies deal. So probably more like 300-600k over 1 - 2 years.

He has 5 years remaining on his Collingwood contract.

Why do clubs release merchandise for the next season before the trade period?

Mind boggling.

Because the marketing department don't talk to the football department.

We solved a similar calendar problem by eliminating them altogether.

Did you see the text message?

No, and I don't have proof. All I have is the word of a very respectable person at Carlton.

Obviously, it is all just hearsay but I guess we will see what eventuates next year with Oliver's contract negotiation.

An extra payment from the Filth ... amid the muck and mire. Couldn't happen to a nicer group of social misfits.

As a coach, I highly rate Buckley. His teams have often played good footy.

As a people-person or people-manager, I can't actually remember anyone as bad as him unless you mention Mark Neeld or Scott Watters. He is woeful. He has to stop thinking of them as footballer entities, and interact with them as people. Add in a CEO who appears has risen to the level of his incompetence, and the Pies are in serious trouble as a club.

Can't wait to hear Eddie's spin in this - could be the best comedy act of 2021.

One thing they all have in common? All assistant coaches to Mick Malthouse. I keep wondering (to be truthful, I believe, although without hard evidence) that Mick Malthouse isn't best known for being a "people-person" either.

Of the four, though, I've always thought Buckley shows more empathy than the other three.

Interesting...

I think outside of football Buckley probably has more empathy.

...but inside the buble of the football club Malthouse has him well covered. He's very highly regarded by his players at WC and C/Wood. Winning premierships doesn't hurt but he was able to get the best out of players Buckley in his wisdom decided to move on.

Malthouse comes across as an arrogant a... hole but I think he knows how to work with different player personalities and get the best from them. It appears, and the record seems to show, that Buckley can't.

Malthouse appeared to alienate a lot of players who left rather than stayed to play under him. Whether it was their choice to leave or whether Malthouse pushed them out, I have no idea. But I agree, once he had the players he wanted and who wanted to be there with him, he got the best from them.

Yeah, dangerous hearsay, just another false rumor.

There’s rumours and there’s rumours. When you hear one and you laugh, then it’s a rumour and probably best not to post it on here as gospel. That being said, I heard Cripps flew home from the States just to show the board member the text message.

Adam Treloar and Jaidyn Stephenson feature in January and October respectively in the 2021 calendar.

...so... Out of the 12 best/most popular players, they trade 2 for peanuts and offer another for trade.
Suppose they can say they’re still paying Trelor?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
