Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I feel like the afl have to take a fair bit of blame for this one.

The deal with the players wasn’t finalized, which meant the salary cap and deferment of payments and so on is also up in the air.

Collingwood and the Dogs probably couldn’t get exact details confirmed. But it’s the AFL’s fault for making sure finances aren’t agreed to in trades.

Then if there’s unusual amounts due to this year’s unique circumstances they could be fighting over them now. But 50k max not 200k!

I just don’t know how/why the dogs would’ve done this deal without agreeing with the pies at least very close to what they were expecting them each to pay.

Given how poorly the pies having been doing with these issues I could picture them doing a “it’s fine let’s just get the picks swap done and we can work out the rest in good faith”.

The disgraceful actions of the pies should not go unpunished, they should be barred from trading in players/FA for a year, they’ve got less credibility than Dodoro (and that’s quite an achievement).

Collingwood is a club not to be trusted, promised big money to adam, then regretted it, now promised the dogs to pay so much, now they regret it, looks like they are now  doing a back flip, Eddie  has become so arrogant he thinks he can do anything he likes.

The AFL will mediate.  The article states there was an internal number agreed upon for the deal "$300k" it seems and they signed off on it.

If I were the dogs I would enforce the original agreement, if not they can tell the pies to have him back.  Because it's apparently leading to them having cap issues.

This trade period has been a PR disaster for the pies. They have clearly shown themselves to be untrustworthy and have tried to spin this salary dump as a strategic move when it’s nothing of the sort. Ned Guy’s trainwreck interview will go down as one for the ages.

Trade period shambles, Jungle drums beating for Eddie, Lumumba case, De Joey in court. I think the pies will crash and burn in season 2021.

Here's hoping karma catches up with them, and not a moment too soon.

Their actions are bordering on Trump-esque

I came here to post the exact same comparison.  Here's some snippets from McGuire this morning;

“This is not unusual … Maybe it is unusual, but I was told it’s not that unusual."

“The Dogs will remember those who stood by them when they had no friends and voted for them and looked after equalisation and things like that.”

Wow this is incredible, considering Peter Gordon is a Lawyer

bring on a vicious Dog Fight. The Filth are a disgrace and we all should remind them once Crowds can return to Stadiums.
They sign contracts they have no intention of Honouring.

Classic Eddie - thinking he does good turns for other clubs, and that gets him free solids for ever and a day.

"The Magpies are playing hard-ball on the amount to which they will commit, and are taking the view that this is not their problem.

It is believed the clubs are as far apart as $200,000 a year on at least one season of the five-season deal.”

So this is getting uglier by the minute. Thank god we didn't get involved in this deal. Also can't believe a deal can be signed off without the remuneration side of things sorted out.

Seems bizarre to me that this can happen. Surely you should only be able to lodge a trade when everything else is signed/sorted.

What if they couldn't come to terms? Or if any related picks had been on-traded.

what a messy situation.

I laughed at McGuire being referred to as a “Broady standover merchant”.  He would have been in bed by 7 every night the frightened little rabbit! Even at 18 years of age!

I smell something slightly different here. I think they may have agreed to $300k per year, but as I posted earlier on before the trade, the real figure on the last 3 years could be well over $1m a year and maybe the Dogs weren’t aware of that. If they weren’t, they could suddenly be facing $700k-$900k a year for the last 3 years, even with the Pies contribution.

Something has clearly gone wrong with the deal, or it has been improperly executed and/or misunderstood by a party or parties.

It is great entertainment though for the viewers.

I know with a fair degree of accuracy that the comments about Treloar not being wanted by leadership group players at Collingwood is correct. I don’t know the full details but Pendlebury and Sidebottom are apparently not fans of Treloar and vice versa.

i look forward to watching the Dogs -v- Pies debacle unfold.

I always thought that the dogs had to let Dunkley go to fit  Adam Treloar in,  was this why the deal was done right at the death, Collingwood was always trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes. Collingwood never had any intention if honour Treloar contract, they wanted to trade him just before they resigned him on big money, and they had no intention of honouring their agreement with the dogs, they are dogs.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
