Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Ricciuto on Lever

I always thought May was bought in to compete with the Franklin/Kennedy/Lynch types to replace what Chip gave. I don't think he's had enough, but by the end of this season we'll see. His age is perfect for that position, you need a heavy weight.

Lever, I don't get the wailing, after Round 2 2018 Lever was in our best almost every week until a knee injury. Showed exactly what he can do, he has another likely 6 years. Able to become part of a flexible back 6. Totally worth the investment. The fact that he has improved his time trial is nothing but a positive.

Goodwin on Lever today

But, also, the fact that we actually love Jake. We want him at our footy club. We would probably pay him whatever we want to pay him.

Adelaide director Mark Ricciuto has been slammed for his comments on the recent departure of several of the club's stars

Goodwin said he and Lever had broached the issue before training and had enjoyed a good laugh.

"I think it's unfair for Jake to have that thrown out there first and foremost. I just don't think it's right. It doesn't happen in the industry much where you get there and talk about specifics of players' deals," he said.

"I think it's really unfair on the player. Jake and I had a good laugh about it this morning once I got the information that it had taken place. just reassured him that we love what he brings to the footy club. He is a class act, Jake, and he will just get on with it, get on playing footy."

Ricciuto said the Crows were "very comfortable" that Lever had been "let go" on a deal he claimed was worth up to $850,000 a season, claiming Lever "was probably a $500,000 player".

Lever has battled injury since joining the Demons, managing 21 matches in more than two seasons, but is seen as a key part of their plans to re-emerge as a force.

"We want him [Lever] at our footy club. He has been really fantastic for us and he is only going to get better and better. There were some things in that discussion that were put out there that just weren't right," Goodwin said, adding he would contact Ricciuto.

Lever's departure remains a sore point with the Crows. Former skipper Taylor Walker had left a "pretty honest" and "blunt" message on Lever's phone when the latter confirmed after the losing grand final that he was leaving.

Ahead of Sunday's clash against Essendon at the MCG, Goodwin confirmed Kysaiah Pickett had won a recall, having been suspended along with teammate Charlie Spargo last weekend for breaching the AFL's COVID-19 protocols. Spargo was given a two-week ban, while Pickett was given only one week for visiting an unauthorised house for a non-essential gathering.

Ricciuto has no right to discuss the value of any trades their club has made and reveal dollar amounts of contracts, whether true or not. He should keep his mouth shut and worry about his own team which has a myriad of problems, most of which seem to have occurred while he has been at the helm. Loose lips sink ships, Mr Director.

They are injury prone players though. That probably won't change unfortunately. May also only has a couple of good years left.

I think there are definitely players on our list that we should be worried about, but i don't think Jake Lever is one of them.

Kid is a gun and the more continuity he gets in his game, the better he is going to get.

Lever, Pick 37 and Pick 47.

FOR

Pick 10 (2017), pick 19 (2018) and Pick 59 (2018)

So, it ended up being...

Jack Lever, Harrison Petty and Matthew Parker (StKilda)

FOR

Lochie O'brien (Carlton), Liam Stocker (Carlton) and Brett Bewley (Fremantle).

Looks fine to me.

They are not necessarily who we would have picked.  Or we may have traded one.?

It's interesting to note that the 2017 draft really dropped away after the first eight or so picks, with just a scattered pattern of talent after that.  By the time you're out of the single-digit pics, the top talents are Kelly (24) Ryan (26) and Fritsch (31) and Worpel (45)

Similar story in 2018 - From Liam Stocker on there is a serious drought of games played so far.  The next four in the draft are yet to debut and the next 50 combined have played about that many games in total, with the exception of a little run from pick 54 to 56, which includes our very own Marty Hore.

It is possible that Jason Taylor is a genius who simply noted 'actually, that pick isn't worth a whole lot' and put it on the table!

James Taylor a genius, probably.

But,  What IF we traded Pick 10 (2017) to another club for another mature player.?

And pick 19 (2018) as well,  to a different club for another mature player,  Or other picks.?

The problem I see,  isn't  Lever,  or trading the picks away, but IS that we traded both the picks for the one player..  who had a history of ACL.

I'm beginning to agree with Ricciuto on one point, we are paying too much to Lever.

Really,  he should be paying us for the opportunity to NOT play for Adelaide.

Then again, it would appear that Ricciuto himself is right this moment paying a whole lot of people to not play for Adelaide up at Metricon.

Roo is going to regret putting his head up last week after the game against GC. Media is going to hunt him now, Adelaide is the equivalent of chum 5 miles off shore from Port Lincoln...

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
