Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

AVB on Overcoming Injury

Finally a worthy 'non-puff piece' update from the club.  Most of the prior ones so far have been complete drivel or cringeworthy.

He would be well in the leadership group or Co. Captain by now had he not had such a wretched run of luck.

Absolutely love the way Vanders goes about his training and game day white line efforts.

No coincidence in his return from about Rnd 15 last year and our back half finish.

Imagine a co captaincy of Big M and AVB or a Captain / Vice Captain combo.  I realise there's too much risk and not enough recent runs on the board for this to happen but, had things been different, i feel we would never have seen the horrid drop off this season, even with the same pre-season / injury issues we had.

May the footy gods be with AVB from here on.  If he gets some decent game time in over the next 5 years he could be the difference between a decent bounce back and making finals on a regular basis.

Looks like more drivel to me. His foot is stuffed. He should retire.

Was watching KK's brother play for Geelong last week, and couldn't help but think how things will turn around for us if we can get KK, Vanders and Joel on the ground regularly for us next year...

In the hands of the footy Gods, I know, but we are due some good fortune with those three.

That's the reality. Same with KK.

If we keep these two I would be reluctant to keep Joel Smith unless the medicos are absolutely certain of his playing ability.

Just too many injury prone players on what is a relatively small list.

And some want us to go for Joe Daniher ?

This is part of the reason I am agnostic or sometimes atheistic.

Those highlights from the Elimination Final go along way to show how much we missed him this season.  Played a key role in both finals wins and in the month leading up as well.

Can't wait to see him fit and back out there.  He'll be like a new recruit in 2020.

Totally agree.

And hopefully he’ll not be the only ‘like a new recruit’ that we’ll see in 2020 from players who’ve been on our list for a while now.

The Burgess factor should likely play a significant role in our bounce next season Ron.

My mail suggesting this area dropped the ball and "some" felt the Burgess handover couldn't come soon enough.  The replacement  probably a year too late in hindsight.

Absolute toss, Misson was regarded as one of the best, the team was fit, every player had done required loads, issue was consistency and cohesion

We needed a top replacement Burgess was available after being sacked by Arsenal, is that a good reference? In hindsight

Yes. Mission should have left, when he decided to leave. His mind had moved on.

It’s only natural

Ah good ol' Saty.  Would he ever say different?  Why i have him on block.

Didn't have time to question the source and there was a reluctance to go further anyway so who knows, Saty could be correct or he might be just sprouting what's said to him publicly.

Either way, Burgess looks to be a significant upgrade.

Agreed on the first part.  If we were talking a runner or physio etc neither here nor there.

The team was not fit physically or mentally last Summer, regardless of what Satyr thinks or says. The results onfield are the proof. We were so far off the competition standards

I've got him on block as well.  No doubt he was yapping about how fit everyone was and yada yada yada.

I think this year is proof enough that we were anything but fit.

Yes our angry friend mentioned fitness wasn't the issue up there WB...again!

Said "cohesion and consistency" were the issues.

I assume he us speaking about the players not having the usual amount of training time together as a unit on the park.

While I have no doubt this would have had a significant effect, there's also no way every player was fit in terms of a full pre-season fit either.  I have heard  of at least two players who were only able to complete half of the required sessions usually expected.  They may well have completed their required loads as angry bird said but this would have been over a massively reduced program.  Two isn't alot but probably weren't alone and they were both top of the tree seniors.

The above two factors no doubt contributed and among so many it was on show from the opening rounds.

Get rid of this bloke he is a troll. Vanders is a gun and will be a welcomed addition to the side when fit.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
