Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If Adelaide sacked Pyke and made a long-term offer to lure Goodwin

And they'd certainly not be doing their due diligence if they didn't headhunt Goodwin. And we wouldn't be doing our due financial diligence if we didn't look at it as a potential opportunity of getting out of a contract that we may have to pay out 2 years on (End of 2022) if we're in the same position this time next year.

I look forward to the incoming mockery ?

He was basically offered the job before he took ours...

He turned them down then.

No reason to think he would change his mind now.

The club also committed to a new contract with Goodwin at the start of this season.

Despite how things have panned out I doubt they would have changed their minds on his long term viability no matter what some on Demonland may like to think.

He's ours...like it or not.

One reason might be a change of circumstance in the last 6 months and the potential of being out of a job in 1 years time. I'm not suggesting Goodwin would cut and run either. But suggesting a possible amicable arrangement whereby the club would only release Goodwin and he'd only leave, if Roos is prepared to step in.

Roos has no intention of stepping in.

My opinion, but I think the players were over him by the end.

He was needed to do a job, he did it and he moved on.

He did a great job by the way, no knocking him but I think his time was up.

Those who think Roos would have taken us to a flag if he stayed on are off the mark to my way of thinking.

Roos won't coach us again but it is a nice thaught. If pyke loses his job at Adelaide and I think he will then there might be an opportunity for Lyon or is that too left field.

Shame we can't trade coaches like other sports have in the past (see Doc Rivers NBA Celtics to Clippers for an example of a contracted coach being traded).

Trade Goody to Adelaide for a pick. Given Goody is a young and up and coming coach, I say he would be worth two first rounders (clearly I am kidding here folks, only clarko commands that kind of trade currency)

What makes you think the players were over him exactly? I don't agree with you, but open to hearing what made you think that, and then also what that tells you about the players if so.

Just a feeling based on performance and a few rumours.

Maybe off the mark but I do think his time was up.

I think many on here have have rose coloured glasses and forget the discussion of Roos as a poor match day coach.

Whilst I don't necessarily believe that, he was one dimensional and it wasn't the best brand of footy to play or watch.

...and for all the talk of defence first, we still got our share of beltings.

A big part of his job was to take the heat whilst we yet again attempted a rebuild.

A novice coach wouldn't have been allowed the time we got with Roos at the helm.

I think he came in did his job and time was right for him to move on.

The only reason Adelaide would be interested in Goodwin is if they were absolutely certain the MFC were just a team of dud players.

But here some of you are saying it’s Goodwin who is the dud.

Why would the Crows move on one dud coach only to replace him with another?

Fair enough mate, can totally understand how you'd feel that way.

I guess for me, I see it more as Roos could have potentially changed his game style and match day moves based on the far better personnel Goodwin inherited, but we'll never know. I do think it's important to remember the quality of players he had at his disposal to implement that brand of footy though.

The same things have often been said about Goodwin, and we've had a few beltings under him, with a far better list.

Gary Lyon would be a great get, him Nietz and Ooze would take us to the promised land.

All a bit strange.

There is zero chance of Roos taking a senior coaching position next year- MFC or Carlton.  He may take a consultant role at CFC to top up the super, but nothing more.

Roos wasn’t fired by the MFC; he left.  He didn’t want to be a senior coach anymore due the the overwhelming demands it put on him and his family.

If the club doesn’t want Goodwin, we don’t have to hope that Adelaide will bring him in; the club simply fires him.  With that said, you don’t fire a coach 10 months after a preliminary final.  Next year he may be under pressure, but it’s not there yet.

If the Crows put in a bid for Goodwin they should be drug tested. Roos and Jackson put us on the right path and Goodwin and the board stuffed it again in 12 months.

So which 12 months last year of this year, what position does a Board member play?

Another wrist slashing thread, ho hum

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
