Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

By the time the 2019 season is over this thread will be longer than the one Jesse Hogan had

Just for reference.

The 2018 Injury thread was 24 pages and 584 posts.

The 2019 Injury thread (up to pre-Round 14) is 41 pages and 1010 posts.

The Jesse Hogan (Proposed Trade/Farewell) Thread was 471 pages and 11,774 posts.

These numbers include deleted posts.

I don't know why they don't give Lever and Hibbert the rest of the year off.Why push it, the seasons shot. Break a collarbone and play the next week, what a joke. These are human beings with flesh and bone, no different than you and me.Levers had a hit out, unfortunately had a whack on his knee, pulled up sore, don't risk it, it's not a grand final.

I suspect that after tomorrow’s game the Jesse thread may be resurrected, however he plays and whatever the result.

Either should have kept him if he plays well (even though he was desperate to head west and would have been a reluctant player had we insisted) ; or we don’t miss him in the unlikely event that he plays poorly and  we win.

It wasn't "next week", it was 3 weeks.

Ok so he missed 2 weeks which makes 3 weeks of healing of a broken bone.Obviously it wasn't enough because he's injured it again.

Now they are going to try to fix it and reckon he will be back next week.

I say what's the point. Let it heal and come back next year fully fit and strong.

Remember John Meesen?

In October 2007 Meesen was traded to the Melbourne Football Club for the 37th selection in the 2007 AFL Draft. He made his debut for Melbourne in Round 3, 2009.

Meesen was delisted at the end of the 2009 season along with Michael Newton; both were re-drafted as mature age rookies.[1] After failing to play a senior match in 2010 due to injury, Meesen was delisted at season's end.[2]Melbourne subsequently appointed Meesen to the role of part-time development coach.

Recently, Meesen returned to his home grown club, Modewarre, where he took the opportunity to co-coach a young and talented team alongside veteran, Josh Finch. Meesen immediately attained the respect from his teammates and committee and begun a very successful 2018 season in Geelong's Bellarine Football League (BFL). Modewarre begun the season with just one win through the first four matches, however, turned the season around winning 9 of the next 11 games to ultimately gain a spot in the BFL Grand Final against the red hot favourites, Barwon Heads. Meesen was a dominant force in the ruck which reflected in his teams performances and brought Modewarre's first Premiership to the club since entering the BFL competition. Meesen was awarded best on ground for his grand final performance to complete his successful season. Meesen also finished runner up in the BFL League Les Ash Medal vote count.

Melksham 4-6 that means gone for the season.

Wonder if Joel will seek a clearance, or be happy with the new staff coming in to the club.

Pity young Swallow also 4-6, meaning also probably gone for the season.

Joel Smith out for the season.  As is Jeffy.

New injuries in AFL:  Keiltly 3-4 weeks (Ankle)  Stretch (Foot) 2-3 weeks.  No info as to whether it is the foot Stretch hurt late last year.

Difficult situation for them as all are out of contract at EOS.

As Lord Nev mentioned KK had another head knock.  Hope he is ok.  Happening far too often.

So the actual list is:
Chandler - test
Hibberd - test
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lever 1-2
Jetta  2-3
Stretch 2-3-season
Keilty  - 3-4
Sparrow 4-6
Melksham  4-6
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KK - season (seriously)
Vanders - season (let's be honest)
Garlett - career
J. Smith - season
Walker - season
Neitschke - season

Wouldn't be a bad idea of new Burgo caught up with some or all of Vanders, J Smith, Walker and Fred to have a chat with them and see if they are still alive. Surely that would be nice content for fans and might even be good for them as well.

Lever out for 1 or 2 more weeks. Given his injury will be a mile of fitness a wise. So comes back and plays another scratchy game that he struggles to run out and struggles with his touch.

Given he actually only played 2-3 decent games last year before his injury we won't have got much from him for close to two full seasons.

To be clear I'm not down on him, injuries happen. More a lament on our luck.

(I am down however about the pathetic comms from our club about his latest injury. Injured against the pies and fans are only told he is in doubt for the freo game 3 days before the game, some 10 odds since the injury. And when we are told they say one week, but maybe 3 or 4. I mean seriously what a joke).

Here's hoping he has a great pre season And a massive 2020.

If I was Joel I'd either sue the club or seek a trade..

Just disgusting how that he now misses a year because we decided to leave him on the ground of a meaningless practise game due to no rotations.

Yet none of Goodwin or Mission have taken no responsible at all when quizzed about this.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
