Putting everything that happened in that half out of our mind this is the absolute fact: We have not played well, but we are 7 points down. That’s all we can think about right now.

Quite a few players need to lift. Jones is butchering it in close, Hogan is having a stinker. Seedsman being out for the rest of the game gives me a little comfort, one less slick ball user to worry about. Ruck duel looks pretty even at the moment.

Disposals: (half time)

Smith 2

Fritsch, Jetta 3

Vince 4

Spargo 5

Hogan 6

JKH, Salem, Tyson 7

and the Jones lovers will cream themselves over his 14 - with 4 turnover kicks and 10 x 1m handballs. The captain, absolutely putrid.

How we are only 7 points down is beyond me. Those players above should hang their heads in shame.

Smith has a future. Because he gets there. What is it 9 games in? Preferably lever and hibberd would be in with him filling a less important role. No pressure coming into defense hurts all defenders. Cant see us winning this, crows midfield all over us.

He is one player that has a red hot crack every time he is in which is more than you can say for others but he is just too small and limited which is a shame

he jogs around all game 20m behind his opponent, is extremely soft and can't lay a tackle, I hope the kid makes it but he doesn't deserve another game this year

Everyone's complaining about JKH, Garlett, Spargo, and Smith. I'm over here wondering when Jesse Hogan is going to show up.

Amen. Wouldn’t kill him to stand up and win us a game.

I've noticed that Adelaide's players have tried to put body on us at every contest. Good move by them because they're a mature team with body strength and we consist of Tom McDonald, Max Gawn, about 10 twenty-year old stars, and a bunch of old spuds.

If we manage to stick some tackles on the likes of Mileara we will be in here. Jones has to lift and umpires definitely need to lift, some shockers so far.

Is Hogan scared to kick? Jesus he just ruined that ball move.

You mean the first year player doing more this year than many experienced players on our list?

Seriously NFI

he's done nothing tonight

What I see most is the fumble's its what costing us.  It like the ball is slippery, but the crows look fine with in hand.

We ae slowly getting on top but need to get in front and push further ahead.

He’s laid 5 til half time but don’t let stats get on the way if your story.

As poorly as we've played, there is only a kick in it.

If we can switch on and convert more inside 50s we can win. Story of our season unfortunately

I don’t often come on here during a game and this will be my last post. You guys are pathetic under pressure. Did you expect Adelaide to roll over? They’re a quality side at home, in form for a spot in the eight. It’s going to be tough but I’m confident we’ve got this

The ironic thing is that when we were an awful team, Jones epitomized our absolute best.

Now that we're actually decent, he epitomizes our worst.

If someone askee, "How did Melbourne play in the first half?" you could show them a Jones highlight package from the game so far and that would answer their question.

And JKH hasn’t been as bad as some say. Can see some of Neville Jetta in him. Could be our next small defender.

Only in a non parallel universe.

JKH is a VFL player not even close to Jets.

Smith is fine imo

Hogan is having a shocker; playing from behind is not what any forward should be doing

Jones has been poor thus far, but if he and the likes of Salem can lift, we’re doing okay cos somehow we’re only just over a goal down and we’re playing some TERRIBLE football

Really need to get Melksham involved more in the play - apart from one muffed kick he’s a weapon getting it i50

You could have said the same of Jetta in 2013.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
