Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Hogan is out of form and his confidence is low. Thanks for letting us know Dermot 'Captain Obvious' Brereton.

After a cracking first 9 or so rounds, the guy has had a few low weeks. I'm sure it's not lost on the FD, they'll be working on it.

Lol to the posters on other threads suggesting we should drop or even trade him!

Get Dermott down to the club NOW to forward coach Hogan.

Pay him a good wage, he knows exactly what Hogan should be doing, as he was the same player 30 years ago

GET Dermott MFC

4-6 goals a game we should be getting with our i50 count

68 last week and Hogan was unsighted!!!!

MADNESS..

Jonathon Brown said he playing like a 'Fish' but should be the 'Shark'.  https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/why-demons-need-star-forward-jesse-hogan-to-return-to-being-a-great-white-shark/news-story/1117606af1d368416a21f9cc0decbaac

Brown suggests, his role as a mid/forward has him chasing possessions and scouting packs(fish) rather than going for pack marks or crashing packs and bring the ball to ground (shark).  It certainly seems that way of late.

For mine, Jesse is another example of the 'flexible players' game plan getting to the point where we have a forward group comprised of uniform players without clearly identified roles.  This is the antithesis of cohesion and predictability in the forward half.

He can’t take big pack marks. So why is anyone suprised when we constantly bomb the footy in he’s not influencing the game. If he’s playing deep kick it accordingly, play to his strengths. Having said that it doesn’t mean he still can’t crash the occasional pack.

Hogan will be fine.  Last week no-one actually kicked him the bloody ball so that wasn't his fault.  Against Port he was poor.

He is an absolute gun and would be third in our BnF imo (behind Gawn and Oliver)

and he LOVES the sainters.  6.0 comin up.

Jesse's best role is as a moving tall target with licence to roam to positions where he can present and distribute.

For him to be a "front and square" crumber is a waste of a huge talent and punishes the team who lose his exquisite skills up the ground.

The only time he should be near the goal square is when he is running.

It will take a combined effort SW.  This is a great test for the club and player to adjust the sails from starboard (crumbing fish role as mentioned) to Port (KPF - shark).  If the FD weren't aware of it they certainly will now ?

Next 3 weeks is a great opportunity to fix.

I think they missed the fact that our delivery was horrid at times.  But at other times it was in his area (as per fox video) and on a couple of occasions on the chest also which he missed.

My understanding is forwards gain confidence with much that they do by scoring goals.  Get him back to doing that and the rest should follow.

P.S. Minor point but might have helped his confidence a little if T-Mac handballed to him in the square on Friday night for the goal.  Bit risky though.

All fugazi

Hogan at his best is everything, covering more kms faster than opponents, being stronger than them, crashing packs, marking and kicking goals.  He is not one ‘type’ he is his own beast.

he is still young, and his form will fluctuate.  He will be back in form and all of those who want him traded or dropped can rejizz on the oldjizz.  Because there was plenty’o’that when he was dominating.

Brereton is a stain, Jesse is an easy target. I would not let Brereton anywhere near him.

Dermott got better in big games....

And that is EXACTLY what the difference is with our so called "stars"

Real stars of the game live for the big moments, whereas most of ours seem to overawed in every big game we play.

If only the entire side were as consistent as Oliver, regardless of opposition,  we would be world beaters.

Hes had a couple of quiet games...  three games ago he had 19 possessions, 10 marks and kicked 5 goals.   The game before that he had 20-11-5.

Give me a break.

Yeah, you're right, everything's fine and it is unreasonable of us to expect him to get a kick in big games against Collingwood and Port.  FFS.

It was interesting to hear Roos talk about us before the port game  last week.

He said one big area for concern was that our forward structure has not settled properly yet.

The bombing wouldn't have helped.

I think Dermott is commenting on the symptoms and Roos knows the cause.

Hope it gets sorted quickly.

How many games did Richmond's "stars" have under their belt before they started to perform in the big moments ?

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
