Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Thoughts on Sydney?

Sitting on 11 wins and play ESS (A) COLL (H) MELB (A) GWS(A) HAW (H)

I think their run is tough and they're a risk of falling out of 8

Oh hell. Oh hell. My brain just broke.

I looked across some more fixtures and have to say it -  There is a real possibility that at the end of the season there could be 6 teams on 14 wins, stretching from 3rd to 8th. A slim chance, but a chance.

It is conceivable, just barely conceivable, than in round 23, the Demons and Giants will be playing for a top-4 spot for the winner and 9th for the loser.

Now that it has been shown possible, I feel it is inevitable.

so like I know the crows are in form etc and at their shithole but like we did kinda beat them by 2934823984 points about 8 weeks ago. Like surely we are a chance guys - I think we will win Adelaide / GC and one of the other games not sure which hopefully Sydney but its all still doable - I rate the Adelaide game a better chance than SYD / GWS / WC for sure

Lets have a friendly wager. Winner chooses loser's avatar until the eve of round one next year.

Good bet for you given your confidence

haha deal. i'll cyber shake to that binman :)

i obviously hope i'm wrong but i'm quite confident. just like i was with watts saying that pick 31 would be better and watts will be dropped mid season. could a person be any more correct on a given issue? lol

Haha, excellent wager!

As for trying to predict the run home, I reckon anyone who started predicting this just two weeks ago has already been blown out of the water.

@Little Goffy Your brain will break further if you ponder on the fact that if we go into that game 2/4 and GWS are 4/4, then they will probably be locked in 4th and will undoubtedly rest/play bruise free footy and we'll probably finish 6th or so with a win. I kind of think that is a safer option than battling for top 4 and missing out on finals if we lose which is absurd.

There's been a push for whoever's the higher finisher to have 'earnt' a home final.

Amazingly accurate, just calculated the same result : WC 108pts, MELB 70pts.

My crystal ball then enabled me to analyse the number of queries raised on the umpiring errors. No. of Queries: Nil.

Next week, probably early.

AFL website are guessing we've got the Saturday arvo timeslot.

But given we're coming back from Perth, surely the league would give us Sunday to enjoy the extra day's break??

We will beat suns and maybe swans, lose the rest. No finals.

The Swans are likely to beat ess...also a good show to take care of the pies...esp if pies have a hard game against toiges

It's kinda the butterfly effect...they'll be on a roll looking to cement a top 4 possie...when they meet.....us.

The Swans I sense is our most 'dangerous ' game after the Crows. If we sink in the pea soup tomorrow I'm not game to look too far ahead anymore.

Assuming neither GWS nor Melbourne bomb out in the next few weeks, surely GWS V Melbourne will be the final game of the home and away season. It could completely reshape the final 8 and would have the fans of as many as five or six clubs all watching riveted.

I know it’s probably an obvious thing to say but I really feel like we are one big win away from this team kicking into the next gear. And I don’t mean big win in terms of margin against a lower team I mean getting a win against a contender that will give the players the confidence in themselves and each other.

I’ve still become pragmatic about this season (I guess it’s MFCSS) but it does still keep that little spark in my heart alive!

Agreed. But it will take a huge effort to win THAT game

Do they have strength to do it this year???

I actually think they’ve got that and more inside them, it’s all mental barriers now. Whether they can break through those barriers this year remains to be seen. I think they are haunted by past demons (no pun intended) dating back to times they weren’t even alive. Because they shoulder the hopes and dreams of a club thats been struggling in the wilderness for so long and laughed at by the competition (and continues to be laughed at) they have to overcome those issues as well as their own.

But Richmond did it last year, and I honestly feel like we can do it this year (though not to their achievements).

Agree and there’s a few of those coming up, WCE, SYD and GWS.

I'd love to win tonight to both strengthen our chances, and also significantly dent a "resurging" Adelaide's chances. Sydney is absolutely gifting us a home final, if we'd beaten St Kilda and Geelong like we should have we'd be a lock for at least 6th.

The problem with Adelaide, Sydney and WC is their tall forwards. I'd much rather be playing Richmond, Collingwood and Port again in these final 5 weeks because we match up better with them with both Hibberd and Lever out, and I'd fancy our chances more against them than the aforementioned. Given our outs, we are coming up against the worst possible teams. Just our luck.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
