Post Match Discussion - Round 11

In my opinion this is the best and most important win we’ve had in the last 6 weeks. Yes it was ugly but to grind out a win was very important. I wanted to see how we would perform when challenged and when things were going against us. Well today was that day and coming off a 5 day break with a man down, 2 more carrying injuries, bad umpiring and getting smashed in clearances and we won by 50 points. Gees you would take that any day, but especially given the circumstances. This win tells me more about where we are as a club than the last 5 wins have.

I am scarily excited.

Sorry, should have punctuated or emoji or something.

in all seriousness, a good grinding win when we weren’t at our best. 6 in a row baby!

Brayshaw's disposal was shocking unfortunately.

Definitely not up to his usual standard but really glad he is out on the ground consistently now.

Good win in the sense we found something else to hang our hat on once we were beaten in the clearances. Our running forward at the expense of not being exposed on the defensive end was top rate. Plus the Hogan and McDonald combo really gives oppositions moments for pause. They ain't lumbering clods like tall forwards of bygone years. They are the equivalent of having two Riewoldt style players up there (though they haven't got his record yet).

Gawny was bloody magnificent. There was not a centre bounce I saw him lose or not at least break even on.

Today there was an area for improvement and that was our clearances. Hopefully, that will be cleaned up by QB.

Even though it was a sloppy game we didn’t look like we got out of third gear which was pleasing.

We lost tha clearances last I heard we were down 37-20. Something to work on.

Jones in the post game interview made a point of the heat in Alice. That, coupled with the interstate travel last week and the doggies having 2 extra days rest and no travel, leads me to believe our second half was immense. Loved Jetta, 3 votes, super effort.

Gees I’d be concerned if I was Bevo. No firepower at all. With a very lop sided free kick count too (26-18).

Might have been good to have Pedo on the bench - Milkshake was injured and off the ground for about 20 minutes and the whole team paused for a short while making adjustments. Goal scoring dropped a little, too. Pedo might have been a back-up for Lever, too as a spoiler when their ball was coming in. Just a thought by the audience on the game.

As good as any of the 5 before it. Challenged early and had key players go down or pick up knocks. 9 day break and a bye to hopefully get Lever up.

Sure, in hindsight.  But had neither Lever or Milkshake gone down, not sure how the great Ped would fit into rotations quite frankly.

God I hate Etihad but very happy to have been at the game. Thank God we don’t have to play there again this season.

To the loud mouthed, obese, bad tempered Bulldog supporter sitting next to me who invaded my personal space for four quarters - hope it’s an uncomfortable trip home. Your team are rubbish.

Well said and I'm excited too, next week will be epic.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
