Go and get Gaff!

You were making some sense until the last paragraph. Last time I checked, tackling was an instrument of the game and punching was not.

Could be something in that he was lifted off the ground, or was he in the air beforehand?

See who cares. You waste all this energy talking about an on field incident that should be red carded and dealt with immediately. The game is more important than this garbage that people spew about Gaff and his king hit. The weak tribunal encourages this kind of behaviour. Just get rid of it.

The way some of you are carrying on indicates you’ve never played a game of footy in your life. If you think Gaff aimed for Brayshaws head with that punch then you’re mistaken. I’m not condoning the action at all but I can understand how these things can happen in an instant. Gaff was clearly mortified by what he did and again I’m not condoning it - he deserves to go for weeks but I strongly believe the blow was not an intentional one directed to Brayshaws head.

Gaff isn’t a thug in my opinion but today he committed a very poorly timed hit that resulted in a terrible outcome of injuries for young Brayshaw.

I still want him at the MFC next year because he’s a great player of very good character.

What happened today was a combination of a brain fade and unfortunate timings.

He's looking straight at him before he does it.

Spare me.

No, 1 week. Next time they play it will be sorted. That is the rugby code and is the difference between soccer and rugby. AFL needs to move away from this soft Tribunal malarckey.

He sure is.

He didn’t aim for his Gut area

He connected

Gut punches and open palm hits should be stamped out, hand out 1 week suspensions for the most mild impact and the hitting motion will cease. FWIW i dont think Gaff, Bugg or Houli meant to hit their opponents in the face but that the line blurs between body hits and head hits. Get rid of the action.

Pretty hard to be red carded when the umps didn't see it.

The umps can be notified by the video umpire and the card issued as soon as it is alerted to the field umpire's earpiece.

I must admit my first thought was that it was a body shot gone totally wrong.

There is no rationale to these tribunal decisions. They are totally inconsistent. There needs to be one set penalty and if it is policed it will stamp out poor behaviour on field.

Well after looking at many posts on this I have two things to say

1 Those who would look at trading or retiring Nathan Jones to GCS Should hang there heads in shame, Similar to Norm Smith and Junior Mc Donald these legends deserve Respect and our most humble gratitude for their Roles within MFC. Norm Smith was absolutely thrown under a Rocket, treatment  of Junior less , but not by much!, pray it doesn't happen to chunk! Captain Courageous and Heart and Soul of MFC!

2 Gaff.. regardless of whether he is MFC bound, he has made a HUGE error and needs to go for 6-10. No ifs or butts! If Bugg can go for 6 then so to Gaff! Could have caused him extremely serious injury worse than what he suffered. There can be no excuse for thuggery on or of the field!

These comments are predicated on the assumption it's ok to smash people anywhere.

Why the need for a massive wind up punch to the guts? Or the arm? Or the c0ck? It's just irrelevant.

Disgusting.

Should not play again this season, regardless of finals results.

I can’t bear the ‘good bloke’ or ‘not a thug’ excuses.  This act cancels out any of that instantly.

Will we hear the cry again from the powers that be, on Pay TV and FTA, about how this type of incident (Bugg's hit) will, and must be stamped out? Well low and behold, up it rears its ugly head again, oracles. So much for what your bloody ideas bring to the table. Just pathetic!!! This time, Media and AFL you are properly stuffed..............fix it or feck off......

That amount of force could have done serious damage even to the chest. Only two weeks ago some wanted Hawkins done for pushing down on Fritta’s sternum. I don’t care where Gaff was aiming nor does Brayshaw right now.

Did either of us say that?

In no way am I letting the guy off I’m simply commenting on the method of the strike. I am not defending him, nor do I think he’ll get less than 7 weeks.

Gaff will get 8 weeks if the AFL is fair dinkum...! That’s considering Gaffs good record. 10 weeks should be considered.

Serious and traumatic facial injury to Brayshaw and his season is dusted!

Bugg gets 6 weeks and Mills plays the week after.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
