Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Now that I have stopped laughing ... I am getting a little cross

He gets a bite that punctures his skin ... surrounded by medicos and he doesn't think to have it cleaned/looked at.

He is a professional athlete ... we are entitled to better

Really? He probably just thought it was a trivial thing he could manage himself and didn’t need to waste the doc’s time with it. I probably wouldn’t have either. Maybe he did get it looked at at the earliest opportunity.

Is it not possible for us to just be able to say “s*** happens” and not get outraged or feel the need to blame someone?

Any aminal bite should be treated by a doctor. So easy to get infections, and I'm sure the club would want to know everything. Considering they have to report any tiny niggle at training.

I would suggest that the story has leaked, which is out of the clubs control.  When a player goes into hospital for surgery, there’s too many people involved for it to remain quiet.

Someone would have had to have leaked it

media would contact hospitals media manager

media manager asks patient if they consent to some information (ie they were admitted )

if no consent media manager says not much at all, certainly does not confirm

if yes, some info confirmed

depends on pt consent

it would be very serious if a hospital staff member leaked it and punishable by hospital

of course someone else in the know might have leaked it

And what sort of surgery is needed for an infected finger?

Surely just a dose of antibiotics would be enough...

Dog bites can turn out to be a lot more serious than lay folk think.  Often need debridement (cleaning out surgically) especially if they involve a joint.

Frankly, anyone with half a brain, if they were bitten by a dog, would immediately wash the wound and apply basic antiseptic, at the very least!  To miss a game due to this kinda dumbness beggars belief!!

Barrie.  Maybe he did.  Can be very deceptive.  Hope he has had a tetanus shot updates.

PS FMD!!!

could this be more fallout from the cancelled camp?

Nah.  This is entirely Jack's doing.  Had JW still been here he would have stopped the dog from biting CP#5.  How can any sane person doubt this?

Is this a serious question ?

I assume not, but in case it is, the curse is the greatest bit of BS I've ever heard.

But if you're a mentally fragile lightweight believe away.

Nasher...

he is a highly paid professional athlete who relies heavily on his hands.

They report their diet and just about everything else during the season

No excuse for not having it treated early.

If he did have it treated I would have hoped the club would have expanded in that regard.

Standard GP treatment for a dog bite asap after a bite

-dress the wound

-antibiotic injection

-often a splint

-no exercise for one week

Unless properly treated the infection can infect the finger bone. Worse case scenario tge finger requires amputation. So potentially serious.  There is no way he should have played against Richmond.

The player should have seen a GP or club doctor. If the club doc was consulted and did nothing, it would be a very basic omission that would be hard to explain.

I don’t believe he would not have reported it. They showed it on the news tonight and it was very noticeable. The doctor or trainer or whoever would have noticed it, even if Trac said nothing.

Maybe it was treated and was fine, but then he played and it got sweaty and dirty and therefore infected.

It’s pure bad luck. Stock standard MFC stuff really.

If it was treated... fine ... say so... otherwise the football public and the media is  just left looking at another unprofessional example of a struggling football club.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
