The issue with Gawn is himself. Constantly tapping to outnumbered areas, to opposition players, gets angry and belts it away where the other team swoops for a fast breakaway, flicks over the back without watching who’s there, it’s a real issue and look completely like he’s getting ahead of himself, or just not smart. He’s getting a lot of hit outs but I’ve been really disappointed in Max so far, he needs to be smarter than this. It could be the difference between winning and losing.

Opposition have been sharking his taps last two weeks, and he has Missed his connection with Viney. Agree he has also seemed a little careless last two weeks, might also be our midfield a little off!

We've kept both ANB and Harmes. Insane.

We cannot keep giving ANB games because he clocks up big running numbers. We cannot keep giving Harmes games because he tackles. Neither of them do anything else and it's costing us.

Good decision to drop Stretch. We don't need to see another game from him to know he isn't good enough.

Will be interesting to see if we play either of Hannan and Fritsch. I would have included one or both of them for ANB/Harmes. Since we're not dropping either of them, it becomes much harder to see where Hannan/Fritsch slot into the side.

Amateur hour at Dees selection!!

ANB keeps his spot because he covers a lot of ground and should in reality do a good job of spreading. Which suits our game style.

Harmes for me is a mystery. Has been ordinary for literally his entire career.

You would expect if named McDonald plays and so does Spargo since they tweeted it out. Suspect the last 2 sports will be Fritsch and Joel Smith. Imo neither Wagner or Garlett should hold there spots

He did lay 9 tackles against Richmond, so not exactly "done nothing".

Yep second to the ball! Park footballer no more no less!

I don’t agree, he tapped it to 3 tigers in the square on Tuesday, it was beyond stupid. Always going to be sharking but he needs to think about what he’s actually doing imo

Keep Garlett especially at Etihad. The Pies small forwards had a picnic so will Jeffy.

Hopefully Wagner goes Joel Smith has done nothing to warrant selection.

The reason ANB and harmes keep their spot is they run and spread and we have no one that can replace them. Even though they are playing poorly

Assiming fristch, Lewis, spargo in for the three outs, who do we bring in to give us run?

I could have sworn Pedersen was coming in but T-Mac makes the world of difference. Can’t see Joel Smith getting the nod. I would say Fritsch in for Kent and maybe Hannan for Trac

So Wagner survives due to no pressure from below. Great...

WHAT A [censored] JOKE!

PEDO NOT EVEN ON THE BENCH. WELL HIS PAPERS ARE STAMPED HE WON'T BE AROUND NEXT YEAR. IF HE CAN'T GET A GAME WITH HIS FORM HE'LL NEVER GET A GAME.

ANB AND HARMES CONTINUE TO GET A GAME. THE SELECTION COMMITTEE ARE A BUNCH OF MORONS.

Congrats to Spargo, I doubt McDonald will play considering he trained at Casey.

Lucky we are playing Essendon we wouldn't be able to beat another side on paper.

POSSIBLE LINE UP

B: J.WAGNER, O.MCDONALD, JETTA

HB: BRAYSHAW, LEVER, HIBBERD

C : HUNT, OLIVER, SALEM

HF: NEAL-BULLEN, HOGAN, MELKSHAM

F: GARLETT, WEIDEMAN, FRITSCH

FOLL: GAWN, TYSON, JONES

IC: SPARGO, LEWIS, VINCE, HARMES

EMERG: HANNAN

5 goals and BOG in a loosing side.  Seriously don't understand why he isn't in the side (or wasn't last game against the Tigs for that matter).  Weid still offers way too little other that a hope that he will one day be great.

Pedo is the Dean Jones of the MFC.

They wouldn’t name him, if he wasn’t going to play.

Not necessarily, if he was definitely going to play he would be named in the 18, not on an extended bench.

No he gets dropped. McDonald to replace him. McDonald to go back until we are in trouble then he goes forward.

Tom has been training as a forward all preseason, has said every time he is asked he will play forward. Think Jesse will spend more time up the ground

We MUST make a statement here ...... an emphatic win, no half hearted efforts.

Anything less will mean curtains for this list and possibly the club, which survived the darkest years mainly due to the name, MELBOURNE

I don’t agree.  After being out for so long, if they thought he needed a VFL game he wouldn’t have been named.

i think he is a certain starter

TMac probably trained with Casey, because Melbourne are only having a light run during the week.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
