Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

DRAFT DAY 2017

Can't understand why I'm excited about it.

I'll be sitting on the edge of my couch when our picks come around, heart rate climbing, maybe a bit of sweat on the brow, in nervous anticipation of picking up 4 blokes I have never heard of, and know nothing about.

The whole draft system is now characterised by enormous speculation, anxiety on the selections left available and the final return as the draft itself continues and ends. The end-products as far as the clubs are concerned have few guarantees, if any, as we all attempt to get the best value/s in potential players based upon the system's in-built redundancies - the hierarchy of selection order. As far as the MFC is concerned, I'd say that we have had good opportunity and success in our recent experiences over the past few years and that these players, with considerable preparation in senior games experiences are now ready to 'burn' for the red and blue onfield. This may not be a great selection year due to our selection sequence but past successes can be more telling in our rush to the finals in 2018. Therefore, we should not lose hope, at all, whatever our outcomes at the end of this day. 'Carna Dees!

Seems ridiculously open.

The only reason he’ll slide that far will be because of his recent health condition that clubs are now aware of.

Based on his talent alone, I can’t see how he’d last to our first pick and if he did, we’d have to take him.

My ideal draft scenario sees us landing Zac Bailey,  Sam Hayes, Toby Wooller and Gyran Miers.

On talent alone he would be a top 5 pick.

A club will pull the trigger on him early and take the chance.

I think the Saints with 2 picks will have a go at him.

I can't wait to form an opinion on each of the draftees based on their 3 minute highlight clips and then stubbornly refuse to change it for the rest of their careers.

It's even more fun if you do that before they're even drafted!

Just cant get excited.

Every club will talk up their selections for marketing reasons.

It will all be idle speculation until one or more of our draftees get on the park, and, in particular, are selected for their first game of AFL footy.  We have seen plenty of our past draftees play out the season at Casey and not make it beyond.

I have no doubt that our people will make the right decisions at the time of draft selection but we have a long time to wait to see if the selections bear fruit.

The most important thing is that our young boys from 2017 go the next step and develop into great players in 2018.

Some posters will even have a glowing opinion written already, with only the 4 new names to be inserted.

I know nothing of the players this year but know we need outside speed and class. I will be more excited by type and back in that Taylor has picked the best of that type. If I see two speculative talls and two inside mids I will be deflated.

Can't recall what his source was but Peter Bell mentioned on ABC Perth this morning that the Eagles would swoop at 13 if still available as he's rated top 3 prospect by them.

Guess we'll see.

I haven't been following the U18s this year as I spent the majority of the season thinking we'd most likely not have a first or second round pick.  Excited to see who we pick up tonight and will enjoy the theatre and hyperbole of it all.

The openness of the draft beyond about pick ten works to our advantage in my opinion. It's no compensation for a first rounder but to have three second round picks could still land us some good player particularly now that we're much better at developing them than we were 5 to 10 years ago.

The excitement I get with late picks like these is hoping blokes we want to slide actually slide. Gets quite nerve-racking when it's very close to our pick and the player you want is still available!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
