Excellent. He's the head coach, his job isn't to wallow in self-pity. The supporters have that covered.

(Though as the Jones post pointed out, the responsibility lies fairly and squarely with the players.)

Who said anything about self-pity? Your post is complete nonsense. You are saying the coach has no responsibilty for what has transpired.

This is our club. The coach is an employee. He has presided over a failed season. I think we are owed an explanation and an outline of what he plans to do to fix it. It's a disgrace that he hasn't been heard from.

Well I was pretty sure we were debating when the finals booking info should have been sent out. By the way at 5.00pm Saturday we still didn't know if we were in the finals or not.

If we had won the game we were in. Fairly simple. Emails are recieved instantaneously.

If we lose (which is what actually happened) you wait for the Meth Coast result.

It's not hard

If you line up for queue tickets before 6.30 am at a Ticketek agency to book your placed in the queue it may well be hard to make those arrangements at such notice if you only receive the notice the night before.

All that Goodwin owes anyone is to get on with his job and act like a professional. Which, thank god, he's doing.

It's not his job to go crawling up to sooky supporters.

Don't know about that.

We have over 42000 members most of whom would be angry at the result and some of whom may be reluctant to be members again in 2018.

It would not be unprofessional of him to address those supporters on the club website and explain what happened and give them some hope and encouragement for next year.

After all, they often do media for the most stupid BS reasons.

I think the members would have been appreciative.

Amen to that Mr. Leg whatever the reasons for silence might be it last looks very poor.

I am sure you know the old one about justice being seen to be done.

All covered by Jones' post/response, and to a lesser extent, his own post-game Press Conference. To the extent that it needs to be.

And people complain that the players are soft.

I'd rather he was busy getting his head around what went wrong, how it can be fixed and reviewing the list rather than trying to placate supporters who won't accept anything he has to say anyway.

If he hasn't got his head around what went wrong then we definitely have the wrong coach.

Pathetic and churlish response. If I was an investor in a company that was responsible for such a performance I would expect, and it would be a given, that the company responded to an appalling result.

Jones response was his personal social media account and is akin to the Sales Manager fronting investors rather than management.

The club looks weak and disinterested in speaking to it major stakeholders.

Not sure what you mean.

I was answering a post about the Coach not being seen since the loss and that that was professional.

I was saying it wouldn't be unprofessional for him to have spoken to the members on the club web site, after missing out on the finals after a pathetic effort by the players in the first quarter.

Don't know if you mean I am soft because I answered the post.

I am not saying he had to speak to the members, only that it wouldn't make him unprofessional if he had.

So it's been over a week now and I'm still so [censored] off, finals start this week and I couldn't care less won't be watching a second of it, which is strange as I usually watch anything footy related, congrats MFC 11 years of crap has finally broken me

Understand exactly how you feel Brendan. It was just such a sh-thouse way to end our season.

Yep it feels like it could be the straw that broke the camels back for a lot of us supporters, at this point in time I couldn't care less who we recruit or who wins the b&f which is sad to say as I do like trade week and all that hopefully I come around soon and get back to normal, the club owes us big time now and finals next year are non negotiable, if we don't play finals next year I can see a lot of people myself included just giving up

Still better than sending out a booklet via snail mail when

A. We didn't make Finals and

B. The Ticket Window had already past....

Like others, I find it incredible that the only person to front the media is poor old Nate. He takes a battering for his club on and off the field.

No communication at all from the coach or president. Nothing. Not even an explanation why there is nothing. Even if they have a reason, tell us what the reason is.

Most supporters are hurting. I don't care what they say. Just say something to show supporters that you care.  Show some empathy. Even if there is going to be a "bells and whistles" explanation or commentary down the track, the club has lost the opportunity to show that it damn well cares for supporters and understands how we are feeling.

The time to do it was in the immediate aftermath of the weekend. Oh ok Jonessy did it. But where the hell was the President and Coach.

A massive fail by these two guys and an insult to members, many of whom are wondering whether they should bother giving a damn next season and invest any more emotional energy in the club.

I attend the B&F every year and really enjoy the occasion, even during the 'Neeld years'.

Like the vast majority of DL'ers I'm still hurting, and can't say I'm looking forward to forking out a fair bit of coin to re-live the season that could have been (for those not aware highlights of each of our games are played prior to the votes being read).

I'm assuming Goodwin will address the 'issue', maybe even going as far as explaining how he plans to address our problems.

Yes, he will and he should.  But there are two drawbacks of that:

1.  It will be about 6 weeks after we unceremoniously surrendered our position in the 8.  The b&f will be too formal, too little, and far too late.

2.  Not many of the 42,000 members go to the b&f and fewer will look at the website, especially if still angry/hurting.  Even fewer will watch the speeches.

I wonder where is their plan to connect with and shore up the support of members the club desperately needs again next year?   How many of the 8,000 additional members in 2016/2017 will be having second thoughts?

It all smacks of the club taking members for granted.

Your spot on with the club reconnecting with members!   Not a word from anyone but Jones about the putrid finish to the season.  Many many members I've spoken with are just too fatigued with this club at the moment.  Jackson and others need better engagement with those who part with their hard earned to keep this club going.  It feels like the club just takes it for granted paying members will just throw their money at the club every year.  Very sour taste at this time.

Maybe it was the injuries to Hogan and Gawn but we got slaughtered time and again in contested marking in 2017. Interesting to see what moves the FD make or try and make in the off season. Pace and skill I agree with, seems those we have who do have pace are prone to turnovers or not the most skilled by foot, we need a player with that combo.

In particular from the kick outs.

I would like to see weed tried there. He can mark but looks lost in traffic in the forward line. ?neitz mk2

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
