I think Melksham might get off with a fine. It was low impact and the GWS player didn't flinch and continued on as if nothing happened.

Has anyone seen video footage?

I don't remember a kick from Nathan jones that didn't go straight to a giants player. Was just really dumb footy by us today

Jones does that every time he plays.

On the replay it looked worse than what it is. May even have missed or just a scraping blow. No reaction from the GWS player.

Having not seen the incident, I'll accept that Melksham will be suspended, otherwise he would have stayed.

We have too many that torch the ball and too many inside mids and not enough outside run.

Hannan and Stretch both need to come in to address that and potentially Brayshaw as well.  I can't see a place in the 22 for Pedo with the way he played yesterday.  Watts and Tyson must be on thin ice.  Harmes, ANB and Maynard on the fringe.

He got him pretty good ADC, if it was Rance he`d have been stretchered off!

It was unintentional, but he got him in the head and chose to bump. Add in the fact that he is a Demon = 1 week minimum.

ANB is now firmly among the best. His pressure acts are elite and he doesn't go missing like Garlett does, who is either "on" or can't get a kick.

Bite the bullet and bring Gus back in. Get the games into him, plus he'll provide class and grunt.

Just what we need at this stage. Another slow inside mid fighting his teammates for the ball. Won't give any more than Maynard has given in his first game.

I just can't believe people want to drop Watts. Yes he is out of form but there are plenty of others that are. He is one of our best players and at least showed some signs of getting some form in the second half. When watts plays well very often we will win and when he is poor well thats the opposite. He has never been a rugged or tough player so we have to accept that. Give him a freaking break.

If you have been reading the Casey reports (doubt you have) then you will notice he's been playing more of a half back/outside role. He's classy with ball in hands and an all round talented player. Showed that in his first year. Get him in and leave him in the side to develop.

It has nothing to do with form. It is to do with having some minimum level of expected effort and application. Watts was fumbly in his first game back but his work ethic was good. Last week he was still lacking touch but his effort was not great. Watts first half this week was well below any acceptable level of intensity that an example must be made regardless of whether he gained some touch when he finally got his first disposal in the third quarter. He does not need to be rugged or tough he does need to work hard without the ball and when they have the ball.

I'm just going to throw a wild guess as I have no idea whether milkshake will be suspended or not...but as a rule we make very few changes, and I'm going to presume Salem will get up and be 'right' to play, otherwise Maynard should hold his spot in the side

OUT: Melksham (susp.), Harmes, Maynard, Watts
IN: Hannan, Brayshaw, Stretch, Weideman

B: Jetta - Frost - Hibberd
HB: Hunt - O Mac - Lewis
C: Salem - Jones - Tyson
HF: Hannan - T Mac - ANB
F: Pedersen - Weideman - Garlett
Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney
I/C: Petracca - Brayshaw - Stretch - Vince
Emerg: Maynard - JKH - Harmes

In....... Some guts and determination.

Out....A decent chance of playing finals after an eon long absence.

While I agree he'd be handy I think they're keen to let him build his confidence back up, on form he should be in the side though

Cant speak for Gus, but his numbers and his massive last quarter where he willed Casey over the line suggest his confidence is going ok.

I think if he tells the coaches hes ready, he will play vs the Saints.

He is in great form and hes about 10 levels above VFL. Hes an upgrade on at least half a dozen players currently in the Demons side.  On talent and determination, hes top 5.

And whoever said he was slow, thats not true. In fact he has some pretty nice pace.

I suspect as dazzle is saying he is playing more of an outside role so he can build up his confidence going for the contested balls

Out Watts

In Ben Kennedy

Kennedy would be the hungriest bastard on our list and will fight tooth and nail.. Would at the worst give effort and Probly enjoy kicking goals!

Agree Kennedy deserves a spot. Get Brayshaw in if he's ready.

Watts will come good. Hasn't been very easy for forwards lately?

Like the idea of going small in the forward line. Start applying some forward pressure. It worked for gws yesterday. Has worked for the tigers this year as well. Something like:

Hannon Petracca ANB

Garlett Watts Brayshaw

Not exactly a change per se, but today's result sets the tone for this match. Winner stays in touch with the 8 (or goes back in if other results suit), the loser perishes. No pressure!

Saw the Saints beat WCE today. They are a seriously skilled, well drilled, enthusiastic and quick team. We will need to improve markedly to beat this unit.

In Stretch Brayshaw

Out  Melksham  ANB

Bring in the Weid for Pedo or Watts.

Bring in - Brayshaw, Stretch and Hannan.

Don't care who comes out. Those that really stank (other than Watts and Pedo), are unlikely to come out

Our game plan isn't holding up and we haven't found a way around it.

I reckon Salem's gone under the radar in terms of omissions.

He was p weak in one on one ground and marking contests yesterday and that was before he got injured.

Hasnt been good since his return to injury.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
