It really was an awful look for Dixon to be standing over jetts and screaming in his face. Ugly. Deserved every boo he got. And by the by i have never heard a player get booed all day for yelling at someone before.

And it was actually a really dangerous tackle as both players were going flat out. Jetts was lucky not to be seriously hurt

I'm currently in an area with very spasmodic internet access, so (sadly for me), I haven't been able to read much of this thread.  I'm sure that there will be lots of enjoyable reading when I finally get back to civilisation (Hobart on Saturday ........yippee!!).  However there's one small point I want to make about Saturday's win  while I have an opportunity.  That is that the first half was far and away the best footy we have played at the G this year.  Like some others around here, I'd been a bit concerned that we hadn't been able to produce our best at our home ground so far this year, but that concern has now well and truly been put to bed.

Sorry if this point has already been made above.

Was right in front of us.  Jetta was focused on the exit, not on milking a free.  What a fat arse loser that #22 is.  There was NO DUCK, no trying to milk a free.

Correct, he did not duck. He took the ball going full speed and did not duck.

That was a careless tackle by a guy so was frustrated he was being repeatedly beaten at contests by a bloke who is 22cms shorter and 25kgs lighter. Dixon lashed out in frustration because he is a sook and a proven loser. Amazing to think he is nearly 27 years old already and still can't string it together. Loser.

Jetta on the other hand busts his ass with hard work and has become one of the best defenders in the league over the past few years. He's All Australian standard. And a winner.

How many contests did O-Mac lose for the rest of the game? Needs to fix where he lands his spoil (please not central) but rarely beaten in the air recently. Big challenge for him against Brown or Waite next week but a lot better than given credit.

Look boys and girls, I understand that my views surrounding Oscar aren't overly popular on this forum. The fact that I made a comment rebutting a poster (Jaded), who suggested "Oscar is ridiculously improved" after his game against Port has caused a ruckus it seems.

The individual highlight I gave was a clear example of what is still glaringly apparent. Nobody can actually argue that, because the evidence is [censored] everywhere. I can give you plenty of other examples from throughout the day. 

The term 'significant improvement' gets thrown around so often and with such nonchalance, people become numb when hearing it. For the second-half of the season, Oscar has committed less unacceptable errors at this level and has therefore been more solid in games. Making spoils, marking, hitting kicks and handballs, making correct decisions, showing awareness and football smarts at a level that in my view is acceptable at AFL and is expected. Nothing more.  

For some, it seems he has 'improved out of sight'. But I argue that he is simply making less errors now than he was earlier in the season. However, they're still there. 

Oscar actually doesn't provide anything other than a big body to stand a key forward at present. He doesn't possess any weapons or obvious strengths as I've argued for so long. He is simply a young tall key position player who is still trying to find his feet at this level. 

For anyone telling me otherwise, please share the moments in Saturday's game that were obvious points of difference moments. Passages or acts that were anything more than expected at this level. I can most certainly mount a case arguing that he committed far more errors than acts that were better than what I'd term acceptable. Example: Making an elementary spoil when needed or hitting a target without pressure.

His tally yesterday:  0 goals, 0 points!!!  He did play on the ball for some of the game.  But him going scoreless was huge for us. 

He is Port's danger player and the difference between winning and losing.

Our defence, especially Jetta and Hibberd did a superb job of keeping him on a leash when he was down there. 

Gray started on Jetta and quickly realised he ain't getting near the ball as long as he stayed on him. 

The irony is that Jetta giving him a bath meant he was pushed into the midfield, where he almost turned the game for them.

Be less good Jetta, I say.

I defy anybody to ever suggest that Jetta isn't one of the toughest guys in the league, and the thought he would ever duck or look for a free is actually laughable.

A less calm player, say I dunno Vince, would have turned around and belted that loser one and got himself suspended. Not Jetta, he just kept playing and beating that hack. What a champ!

As posters are quick to point out....this is a forum where you can express your views & rightly so...... so therefore totally disagree with the above.....Oscar is a work in process & when his body finally develops ( he's 21 !!!!) I think we will have a beauty.... he's constantly against bigger more experienced bodies & as part of the whole defensive group of players .....more than holds his own.   Not quite sure what you expect? Understand the criticism if he was a 100 game player but as Goodwin constantly points out " our team is a "work in progress"  with enormous upside & Oscar fits into that category...

Best aspect of that high tackle on Jets is it inspired the team, who proceeded to move the ball in a wave of hard footy to hit Hogan (I think) for the goal. 

With several players running to Jetta to acknowledge his courage.

Very important win.
Could see from the first couple of minutes we were there to play.
The one thing that really stood out for me was when ANB had the ball and could have kicked a banana or left foot snap for goal and may have missed completely but chose to pass it off to Petracca.

IN the same passage of play he beat Robbie Gray in a one on one and then took on Dixon.

I like a lot of your posts but i don't know exactly what it is you are trying to get at, in respect to Oscar? He makes mistakes, that's a given, he is still learning, that's a given too, but he is playing much better now than he was last year and earlier this year, that's a given as well.

All our players make mistakes, they play a high risk, take the game on style and that will lead to turnovers and lost possessions. I've seen Oscar's game improve and his confidence grow over the last two years and that's because he is playing his role in the team and following the coach's instructions, he must be otherwise he'd be out of the side  

I watched some of our more experienced players turn the ball over both by hand and foot, not just punch the ball to the wrong spot, but direct turnovers in Saturday's game, but only Oscar and Dom get singled out.  I've seen comments on here about this player and that player being not up to it and then the following year being praised as best 22, they play a role and we don't always know what that role is.

If Goodie thinks he's not doing the team thing, he'll drop him, as he has other players and if not we will see how he sits in the next 12 months

Looks like he got grabbed around the neck and if you look closely his legs go forward and his head goes back. Momentum and restraint, then the big idiot loses his balance.  He didn't expect Nev to go on, I think he expected Nev to run it out and he starts to slow down, then he realises he was wring and reacts clumsily. 

He yelled because he'd been made a fool of.

His arm was raised after Dixon's arm collected him. He was running full tilt trying to stay inside the boundary.
