Im not sure having an affair should lead to having to step down. Young women or old, as long as the both parties have consented to it play on.  Whats it got to do with the AFL. Its a matter for home. I hope the lady stepped down aswell.

Well, with Lethlean leaving we might, just might, get some respite from influencing the MRP that he has done in the past. We may also get some stability with the umpires but I feel that his fiddling with interpretations is so entrenched we won't see a change until next season. Will not comment on why he is leaving as I'm sure others will comment better than I could.

" Inappropriate relationships with younger women that work in the AFL industry."

Inappropriate full stop if you are married, regardless the age of the women.

Im not quite getting the " younger women."

It's about power discrepancy

Was going to say the same, but that is actually only an issue if the power was used in some way. Nothing wrong with boss banging the receptionist, as long as both know where they stand and that it wont affect job prospects etc.

Power imbalance.

Edit:- Or do you mean that you are not getting the younger women.

Could be two things, firstly alluding to misuse of power, or alluding to 'these blokes have still got it!' (based on the boys club mentality of the AFL and the immaturity of those in head office I would be going with the boyish second option.)

When you're a senior manager in a high profile organisation, you're expected not to conduct yourself in a manner that puts your organisation in to the news. It's part of the job, and what you accept when you take on the $300+ salary.

No, like any misdemeanour, it's okay until you get caught (or your conscience swallows you whole - betting it's the former in these cases though).

Did the woman step down too or did she get a free pass?

She's not a senior exec. Before you suggest anything sexist, it would be the same outcome if it was a senior female executive with a young male.

Part of their roles are to manage the pr of the afl positively.  Simon in particular couldn't continue.

No wonder the Oliver investigation never seemed to be a priority. That and the fact their was nothing in it

In both cases, all parties should step down.

Having worked in professional environments where senior men have had affairs with younger subordinates, it ends badly 99% of the time. And the power imbalance that might very been an attractant at first is usually the undoing.

But underlying all of this is the AFL trying to manage optics

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
