If we somehow managed to land Kelly I don't think I'd know how to handle myself.

Have also loved salems kicking always purposeful and rarely or never a bomb in hope.

I have no trouble handling my self - I'll give you some tips.

Salem has been what we all knew he could be this year, if he only stayed injury free.

Nobody I'd rather have the ball than him. His kicking is sublime and I love that he's taken his contested work and tackling up a notch.

He's deceptively quick too.

This trades always been hotly debated but Roos always spoke of it very simply, it was a win/win for both clubs. Salem is having a very good year (in fact he's flown under the radar with other youngsters playing well) and is finally getting a clean run at it.

As for us getting Kelly, I can't even begin to image how that would be!

Easy to forget he's only 21 - seems to have been around a long time

Some of his tackling has been incredible, hungry for the contest then sublime by foot.

Stop worrying Red And Blue.I am on speaking terms with Christian's dad who owns a restaurant in Brighton.Last Saturday morning Alex drove past as I was walking my dog.He stopped, wound down the window and yelled " Go the Dees".The family go to training and Casey as well.So I am positive Christian will re-sign.( his dad used to barrack for the Bombers!)

Seems like a lovely fella and a real team man. his game on the weekend was great especially the 3rd quarter.

he is tougher than people realise and his awareness and decision making are elite

it might be a breakout seaon but I reckon he has another level to get to with greater fitness and confidence

Seems as though the club has really looked after him too, through injury and thyroid issues. I get the sense he loves the club and loves playing with a bunch of good mates, and that's purely from observing his behaviour on field and at training.

We need him signed up ASAP, he's the only one of the guys that haven't re-signed (as far as I know) that I'm worried will be very heavily targeted by other clubs.

I have come full circle on this over the 12 months. I used to fret for every half decent Melbourne player concerned that he would leave for success with other teams. And I couldn't blame them as for near on a decade we have been a rabble. Why would you stay?

Now we are chock full of talent, we are young with seemingly a window of opportunity about a mile long, the players seem to genuinely like playing for each other, the coaching group look settled, focused and professional. We play at the best ground in the league that also hosts the Grand Final. We have easily the best colours and the best song (last two points may be subjective)

The MFC is an exciting place to be. Why would you leave?

Alot like Swan was deceptively quick while looking like he is running in gumboots.

You've got to love a player with skills but who is also so hard at it. In the past, too many of our players have been either one or the other. Most have a much better balance now, and Salem typifies this.

With Jones potentially out for a couple, Salem would be the obvious candidate to spend more time in the middle.

Nope. The bolded is a cold, hard fact.

Agree on the rest. I now assume that we will keep who we want to keep, and think that we will be a good chance at landing those we really want.

It's an odd feeling, to be sure.

On Salem... I think we have someone better than we possibly realise. To be silky on the outside and hard as a cat's head on the inside is a rare thing. And I also agree with the poster that said they think he has another level. He might even have two.

I think you may be right. One can dream of a Wanganeen or a Burgoyne ... half as good as them and we have a real player

Trac??

Until Hogan's back I'm happy to have Trac prowling the forward lines and providing a presence.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
