The rumours are getting stronger that Kurt Tippett will be at the Demons next season. Apparently we are looking at him to help Gawn and Hogan.

I would take him at the right price and length of contract.

If Sydney is all set to jettison players, it will free up cap space, so I don't like our chances of pinching Jones.

Where are the rumours getting stronger, on here?

We probably have a spot for all three. Rohan for outside pace, Tippett as a big marking target and backup ruck, Reid as another key defender. Guess it all depends how much they cost. Probably most comfortable with Rohan, least comfortable with Tippett, and neutral about Reid.

They'd obviously much rather hold onto Jones than any of the players mentioned in this thread, so I'd say you're on the money.

Jones is promising. He is an intense player. Hits the ball at full tilt. I'd be surprised if they let him go. He is on his way to becoming an impact player, and his skills are rapidly improving. I have been very impressed to see his kicking looking so sharp at times - with his errors becoming less frequent. It would be a good time to offer Jones overs (just to put some more pressure on Sydney, and also in hope of luring Jones ourselves).

An easier solution would be if we just convinced Josh Kennedy to come to us and leave the other three behind.

This^^^ The rest are damaged Goods

This, I would be interested in Reid as a key defender, judges the ball really well in the air and could play on the bigger forwards. However, his price tag is ridiculous for his output.

Would look at all of these guys for the right price. Who are we kidding on here?

What rumours? Do you mean people on DL suggesting it?

I'd leave Tippett at Sydney, just so they have to pay him $900,000 again next year and not have any money to raid other clubs ( us included)

Next they will be trying to offload Franklin, when his body doesn't last the 10year contract they gave him.

Noooooooo!!!!

Pending 'extreme vetting' I'd take Reid. Worried his body can't keep up though

Rumours spread by Tippert's manager most probably.

Jump at all three of them!

Tippett swapping with Gawn as ruck forward is mouth watering.

We need a classy speedy wingman. I'd like to see Rohan fill that void. Haven't had a gun wingman since Steven Stretch and Tingay (loved Robbie and Alan Johnson growing up)

Reid could play the extra defender we're looking for.

We need to catch up to gws and doing things like this is the only way it will happen. Or else for the next 5-8 years we're all playing for second..

2 out 3 will be on the injury list every week.

They are so over rated in particular Reid.  He is rubbish

Gary Rohan reminds me very much of Jayden Hunt.

Apart from the fact that Hunt attacks the contest like a maniac, and the fact that he got knocked T.F.O running head first into the biggest guy on the field to offer defensive pressure, hit the ground face first like he had been shot through the head, but played the following week, whereas Rohan would have feigned a tackle after shortening his steps, and then missed 6 weeks with a torn hammy.

Exactly, it's easy for players like this to appear handy and of value when you've been part of a successful TEAM for a period of time.

They're C graders and as the Swans have dropped off, they've been highlighted as the most affected.

I thought Tippett was huge in the ruck last year. We've also seen him play well in finals as a forward. He's been disappointing this year for sure though. I think well worth the risk at the right price...

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
