And Tom Bugg had better do something good tonight.  Hes taking Billy Stretchs spot in the team who we know will give us something especially on the wide open Adelaide Oval.

I was hoping Stretch would come in for Bugg but their two different players. Bugg's more of a "get under your skin hassler", whereas Stretch gives us more run and better ball use.

If Bugg's being used for a role than fair enough.

Dont feel good about today, it's that sinking feeling I haven't felt since Roosy's first year. We need a four quarter effort today to prevent being destroyed let alone having a chance in the game.

Weid at FF, he cant play another position, at least not yet.  Doesnt have the tank, strength or agility for CHF.

His job is to fly for everything and create a contest and crumbs for Trac, Garlet, Kent etc,...  any marks or goals from him will be a bonus.

Trac reminds me a little of Brad Green

I certainly feel hassled watching Bugg play

Hogan out is a massive blow. We struggled badly enough in moving forwards efficiently when he wasn't playing, let alone when he was.

Without his option to kick to at half-forward or up on the wing, I can see a lot of turnovers around the half-forward area, which is the worst place possible to turn it over against any club, let alone Adelaide in Adelaide.

If we can break even, or win, clearances (especially centre clearances), I still think we can score enough to at the very least be competitive, but if we're relying on generating scoring shots from our defensive 50 I don't like our chances.

Good points, titan, and it will be up to our midfielders to lower their eyes and to work hard into space.  If we get the ball to the wing, hold on for too long and then just bomb it long then we are in for a night of frustration.  We will need to run our backsides off to chop off that ball out the back, but I can see us working hard for little reward and then feeling deflated when they kick a couple of cheap ones.

I can see it now. Bugg niggles all night and gets a bunch of disposals, while Adelaide score 3 goals from his errant disposal.

I'd change things up and get him to run with Laird all night as a defensive forward.  Buggy has shown that he can kick a goal or two and he keeping Laird quiet would certainly stop their run from half back.

It won't happen but it would be good if it did.

iselect Dees players executing well by hand and foot and knowing their role in every play. So basically the opposite of quarters 1, 2 and 4 last week.

This reminds me of a game I think in '98. We went to Free with a side that couldn't win

That's the way Goodwin has to Coach tonight. Be daring for the whole game

Try players doing different things (within reason of course)

Move the ball with some precision

That was against the Eagles in Perth.  We were decimated by injuries to the point we had a Cockatoo-Collins in the side.  I still remember Stephen Tingay kicking the sealer in that one, it was a ripper of a win.

As you say, we'll need something of the same to win tonight.

Wasn't his first game (he debuted in '97) but I recall that he kicked 4 goals as almost a lone hand in the forward line that day.  I think even Mark Bradly kicked two goals that day.  Sheesh.

We have nothing to lose tonight. I think a lot of so called 'experts' have ignored just how much hasn't gone our way this year. Injuries, suspensions, off field tragedy.

I hope the trip really galvanises the group and they just come out and have a red hot go. That's all I want. Desperation and a want for the hard stuff.

Go Dees!

How many clubs have 6 key forwards on their list?  It's why Pedersen was kept on the list, but as it happens all our rucks fell over too.  You can't mitigate against every possible risk on the list.

Come on Nash, you know we have experts on here who would have had the forsight

This will be one of the best wins in the last decade or more for our club if we can put it together tonight.

I hope you're right but i think we will be lucky to be within 60 points  , then again  am more than happy to be proven wrong !

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
