Changes vs Crows

What

Recommended Posts

Season on the line, you would think. Cant see us coming back from 3-5 when its so close and none of the current top 8 teams look like falling away too much.

In - ANB, Stretch

Out - Bugg, JKH

Sam Jacobs will have a party, it could get very bad for us unfortunately.

This one is going to get ugly. We barely get over the line against cellar-dwellers; good luck playing against the team averaging 135 points per game (especially after they suffered an embarrassing loss -- sound familiar?)

I've decided to play the blind faith card this week and I'll be arguing that we can win this game all week.  The first way to win will be at the selection table.

In:  Stretch, Kent, Kennedy

Out:  JKH, Bugg, Hannan

Already have a feeling that Jetta will keep Betts goalless.

I have nothing against ANB and Melksham coming back in but what would it say as we have just dropped them. Probably that outside our top 12 players, it's much of a muchness

Is anyone else a bit bewildered as to why we brought in Wagner after just one game at Casey?

He isn't overly quick or tall, and is more suited to the 3rd tall, which hibberd is already playing.

I felt like we lacked run in the midfield today and think we lost at selection. Bring in Stretch instead of Wagner and we may have just got over the line.

Working out who to bring in and drop from ANB, JKH, Bugg, Melksham and Hannan is just shuffling deck chairs. These are commendable but ultimately mediocre players who lack the talent required to take us to the next level.

We're really getting exposed for the glaring deficiencies on our list. I hear a lot of raving about our depth but it's barely VFL standard.

I want the following changes:

Ins: Kent, Stretch, ANB

Out: Wagner, JKH, Bugg

We are too slow and the three players being dropped all lack leg speed and are being replaced with players with actual leg speed.

We also had too many players of a similar build in defence with Wagner in, he should only be required if a backman is out.

Final team:

B: Jetta      O Mac        Frost

HB: Hibberd    T Mac      Hunt

C:  Lewis      Viney       Jones

HF: Petracca   Hogan   Kent

F:  Garlett      Watts     Hannan

R: Pedersen   Tyson    Oliver

Int: Stretch   ANB     Vince    Salem

First thing Goody said in the post match was that there wasn't enough pressure. All the forwards are on the chopping block.

The fact is your talking about these guys being pretty mediocre which is true but we need those types. We need them to be giving 100% with massive pressure to allow the talented players to do their work. We cant have 22 stars, unfortunately today our bottom rung players did not bring what is required that means they should go out of the side. The bottom 2-3 players should be coming in and out of the side as they fluctuate in form, that how it works for every side.

We'll get massacred this week, Crows at home on the rebound, us turning ball over time and time again

JKH, Bugg, Hannan out

Kent, ANB, Stretch in

Other teams must laugh at the execution of our game-plan.

They just have to sit back, watch us handball backwards/in circles under little pressure, turn it over with a hospital handpass to a stationary target, then score against us on the rebound because our defensive zone leaves their forward line wide open (and all our defenders are concentrated within a 5 meter radius going for the mark).

Betts is going to have a field day.

players will have a crack as they have done all year, but we will seriously be outclassed this week

Pretty much.

Not to the result anyway. But we'll get back to just trying to play our brand now. And for that...

In: ANB, Weed

Out: Bugg, JKH

Weed only if he's right to go. We needed another tall leadup type. And if Lynch plays will need an extra tall as all of TMac Omac and Frost will have their hands full all day.

The Omac sooks are in fine voice yet again, and for absolutely no reason. Was pretty good today without starring with heaps of disposals. Frost was agony 1st quarter and ecstasy 3rd.

I've been defending JKH, but he's gotta go. Not quite doing enough to keep the ball in. It's a vital job in Goody's system and ANB does it better.

Bugg probably unlucky but he's had his two, and will be moved back again. Maybe also for Harmes or preferably Kent. Stretch also.

Wags will get a second game. Got lit up at one point and played it out. Looked a little off the pace, but that's how you go one game back from interrupted year.

Maybe Kennedy in too. Coach wasn't crazy about 9 shots to two or something.

Oliver was ok ,so was Viney

So Tyson might get the chop as they won't drop Jones ,even though he was scratchy early.

Gawd, so many down below minimum requirements.

we have to set up to beat the crows, we certainly didn't to beat the Hawks.  Gave them too much room and time to do their precision passes, and stood back and watched them play through us more often than not.  Stop Sloane (hard tag), fix up inside 50 transition, and bring pressure on the ball carrier and the next kick.

who to bring in?  Anyone who will give 100% for 4 quarters, prefer kick to handball, and bring pressure as a minimum.

Change the formation. 17 at the back, 1 striker. Park the bus.

Adelaide are going to walk through our shambolic defensive structure.

Essendon scored 80 odd over there, I'd be happy with that. Problem is they'll double it.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
