Haven't lost hope on Melksham but he has shown nothing that suggests he is a part of the future. For a 100+ gamer, he hasn't provided much experience or leadership. I'd go out on a limb and say that Wagner would provide much more in the team if he was fit.

He can have a winnie, a tinnie whilst filling out the quaddie for all i care.

If hes up for playing 120 of decent footy im fine.

So far ...very much ho-hum

Hopefully compatriot Michael fares better.

The Milkshake curdled a tad.

Very good bb

Not sure I would go that far. But he has been average in the first four games.

Does he have any overdue library books?

Dud footballer, 4 yr deal a bust for MFC...

It was a terrible decision at the time and remains. Melksham isn't a great athlete, and he isn't a very skilled footballer. Should be in VFL at moment. That is his level IMO.

This offence is stupid, but far from insidious.

In regards to Melksham as a player, I'm prepared to cut him some slack following a year out of the game.  Certainly needs to lift, but he's not the only one at the moment.  He has the attributes to be a good player; he's just looking a little lost out there at the moment.

I think a lot of people had already made up the mind about Melksham when we traded him in.  He clearly has a lot of work to do to endear himself to the supporters.

it was from last year whilst under the "essendon" suspension

they were under a non contact suspension and not playing, so even if he had bet on afl (which they said he didn't) it hard to see what the fuss is

Hard to see what the fuss is?!  Serial failure to tell the truth to AFL investigations!  What next?

Does not seem very reliable and certainly has shown the same trait on the field this season.

Must be dropped surely this week

Vineytime says Melksham has a "4yr deal" - does this mean he has a 4 year contract?

If that is the case my faith in our list managers has just taken a Lloydish style dive.

That is my understanding mono. Not sure if that this is year 2 or year 1.

Holy crap people are going off over nothing... again!

He 'Misled' the AFL over his betting account last year, he didn't use it, he let someone else use it. FFS you would think that the AFL are so bloody pristine in the way they do business, with WCE drug scandal, the 'Tanking' and Essendon Drug issues, the AFL has painted themselves in a pathetic light in terms of how they have handled any of this.

What Melksham did last year in his suspended year, and how he has played for us in the first 4 weeks have absolutely no correlation.

He hasn't been great so far, and TBH there is a good chance he might get dropped for another player, but for all of the Chicken Littles out there pecking away at their keyboards, this is no more likely to cause the sky to fall than Hogan's indiscretion last week.

AFL has to fine him a large amount purely due to it being a betting infringement. Nothing more to see here...

I said it in the Oliver thread, I said it in the Hogan thread and I'll repeat it in this thread.  I hate our players being in the media for the wrong reasons, no matter how trivial the 'issue'.  Player responsibilities extend both sides of the boundary line.

This is year 2. The club signed him to 4 years knowing he would likely sit out the first one. He's best 22 at the moment despite a down game on the weekend. People have a preconceived view of him and unfortunately that probably won't change.

Seems like it's a scandal every week so far this year. Really hope the coaching staff can get a hold of this group. They seem slightly ahead of themselves!
