Great.  Sooner we get him back the better, he is a gun and will surprise a lot of MFC fans,

Not so great. Just a minor setback though fortunately. Still think he will play some senior footy this year, underrated player with plenty of upside.

We had such a good run with injuries last year, unfortunately it appears our luck has run out.

It's still early in the season, long way to go.

agree.... but these first 5 or 6 games are our big chance to cement the season

Not great but could be worse. Most are replaceable with the exception of Gawn, Hogan, and maybe Lewis

This didn't sound too good regarding Gawn:  “We’re hoping that it is only going to be 12 to 14 weeks.”

It reminds me of the Kent injury in 2015.  Had 'back tightness' early in the season, did hamstring severely in late April, had surgery and his return kept getting delayed.  We didn't see him again in 2015.

That Misson is 'hoping it will be only 12-14 weeks...'

Hmmm, I'm hoping he is just being cautious and Max makes it back in the shorter timeframe.

I feel like I add this to the thread every week, but the list is not as bad as it looks.  Hogan and Lewis are just suspensions, Hibberd is off the list entirely and we have a couple who are just a week away.

Fingers crossed these last few weeks are our hardest for the year.

Hmmmm it feels like we are only a couple more injuries away from being in serious trouble. Need to have some better luck from here.

There seems to be a bit more to the Hogan story than what we have been told so far;  See this statement from Jonesy on the MFC website:

"While Gawn's injury woes should see him back mid-season, problems affecting forward Jesse Hogan may take longer to solve.

The star forward was photographed smoking at a Perth music festival on the weekend while on leave from the club during a two-week suspension.

While he refused to go into specifics, Jones conceded the club was helping his young teammate with personal issues.

"It's been reported that Jesse has a bit going on personally, which (as a club) we're not willing to go into, (but) I think we he's ready he'll probably talk about that," Jones said.

"We don't condone (his smoking), but we'll support him through the stuff he's going through at the moment."

Is there a possibility that we won't be seeing him against Richmond and beyond(?) or is this just MFCSS kicking in?

Nope, he was back in training yesterday.

In the words of Misson - Vanders will start running towards the end of next week.

I saw him running through the rain to the tuck shop opposite Etihad on Saturday. Another instance of us supporters being given misleading truths

Gees Waggers cant take a trick.  We really need a 3rd tall defender to come back in.  Should be Hibberd next week hopefully

If we can get through unscathed this weekend and get a win I will feel good about Hogan coming back and now possibly Hibbert against Richmond. That game was my favourite last year. Love watching Hogan vs. Rance.

Aside from Gawn the injury list has mainly hit our depth players which isn't a huge issue in the short term what what it does affect is 1) what happens if our best 22 players go down/get suspended and 2) affects competition for spots as there are less players competing for a place in the senior team.

Still we've got mostly our best team out on the track, hopefully Hibberd, Brayshaw etc will put in good games for Casey to keep our current 22 on their toes.

Why is Gawn being listed as a 'knee'? Is this a club' list?

Its a tendon.  Is it the tendon that connects the hamstring to the knee or to the hips?

Hibberd has missed a lot of footy. If he ends up needing 3 or 4 rounds at Casey, it wouldn't surprise me - though it depends on what openings appear in the firsts.

Thanks in advance

Terrific composer. Hasn't done much of it in a while. Resting on his laurels I'd say.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
